Oh yeah...and they did have the best lineup of the year, IMO. I had a blast in Austin. Unfortunately, my friend that we stayed with is moving back here next week and I won't have a free place to stay next year if I decide to go. If they get Kind Diamond, I am going though. No ifs, ands, or buts.

Definitely closer to downtown with its free aftershows and good eats. I would recommend the Extended Stay on Sixth and Guadalupe or the fantastic Austin Motel on South Congress. The Austin Motel only starts taking reservations like a month or two in advance and sells out quick. If you want to splurge, The San Jose on SoCo is a hipsters paradise complete with a library off music to sample from during your stay.
Early bird tix go on sale at 10am CST today. No brainer for you locals within a couple hours away. Unfortunately, I am going to have to wait until I know the Bear Creek dates and see the lineup for this.
Have you seen a price? I can only find the "30% off" in my email and online.
Yeah, we won't find out till they go on sale. I have a hunch, but it depends on whether or not they raise ticket prices (everyone else is doing it). This year the full price was $150, so that would make early birds $105. plus fees of course.
Voodoo will have bigger names on the top line, but FFF8 will be the most stacked lineup of 2013 just like it was this year because they don't blow their load on over-rated headliners.

FFF will be easier to find accommodations for for sure since there is not nearly as many out of town visitors. You can find good deals on airbnb or one of the hostels in town. It's really hard to book since they only take reservations a month in advance, but Austin Motel is a great place to stay. The Extended Stay Downton on Guadalupe and Sixth is reasonably priced and puts you in the middle of all of the free aftershows downtown. You won't see as many current popular acts at FFF and I have a feeling ACL will have a stellar lineup this year. That being said, FFF has been one of my top festival experiences and probably my favorite of the city fests.
With ACL split which fest do you think it's easier to find lodging accommodations?
FFFFest, no question. It doesn't attract near the amount of people that ACL does. FFFFest is always a solid lineup, missed last year, but been to 3 of them total. I'd imagine that FFFFest attracts more locals, you're more likely to get people traveling from out of town/state for ACL.
