I feel like Japandroids played Lincoln Hall with Ty Segall a day or two before as a Pitchfork promoted pre party. I could be wrong though.
That could be. I dont remember last year specifically, but a lot of bands would play that week at Pritzker Pavilion in years past. I know Fleet Foxes did and a few others.
Seems like METZ may be out, but luckily I live in Chicago and can go see them anyways. ;D
So the announcement of Beyoncé playing the Wednesday before, has led a few of us to throw caution to the wind and hit that up. If anyone is interested in going, PM me.
All guesses as to who's playing the P4K stage at Primavera Sound. There was some overlap last year, I'm sure there will be this year.
Also, Fiona Apple as a HL, perhaps? I'm just throwing stuff out there.
Tame Impala Death Grips Wild Nothing Jessie Ware Solange Local Natives Disclosure How to Dress Well Metz Daphni Mac DeMarco Matthew E. White Melody's Echo Chamber King Tuff Merchandise Foxygen FIDLAR Daughn Gibson
Really good list. But Disclosure is out. They leaked on their website a few weeks back that they will be at Lollapalooza this year which makes it so they wont be at P4k (they have since taken that down).
These are some other thoughts I had about possible bands for P4k this year (besides the before mentioned Knife & Belle & Sebastian possibilities):
Possible Headliners:
The National - debuted a bunch of new songs at ATP show, headlining BK arena in June, could have a new album they are ready to promote this summer. They have headlined P4k before in 2009. Frank Ocean - Got pretty big this year, might be big enough to headline. Grizzly Bear- Definitely at that level. No chicago dates so far this year. Unless they get picked up by Lolla. My Bloody Valentine - New album (supposed) to come out this year. P4k darlings. Godspeed roll. The Postal Service - longshot, might be more of a lolla act. Blur. Longshot as well but do have an open slot and have set date in Norway right around lolla.
Late afternoon/early evening bands possible for a mainstage:
Bat For lashes - new critical album. to tour off. Might be more of a lolla act. Yo La Tengo - New album/Pfork Darlings Tame Impala - Critically acclaimed new album, played lolla last year. Miguel (might be a lolla act) Crystal Castles (might be more a lolla act) Converge - Could get that Guided by Voices/Superchunk spot. New album got rave reviews. Mt Eerie Menomena Death Grips - i think that's a safe bet Swans.
Possible smaller up and comers for stage 3:
DIIV Hundred Waters Parquet Courts
Hip Hop acts: Action Bronson Joey Bad@$$ Earl Sweatshirt
Electronic Acts:
TNGHT Four Tet John Talabot Andy Stott
It looks like Converge & John Talabot are out. Converge are playing a festival in Denmark that weekend and John Talabot will be in Chicago right after Sasquatch.
This wolf was tickled to hear that the headliners at this year's Pitchfork Music Festival will be Belle & Sebastian, Bjork, and R. Kelly. Pitchfork will soon announce the rest of the lineup, but before that happens, Gossip Wolf has some more guesses: Australian psych-rockers Tame Impala, Toronto "Noh-wave" troupe Yamantaka//Sonic Titan, New Jersey rippers Screaming Females, and beloved 90s alt-rock band the Breeders. Oh, and a dark-horse pick that's mostly wishful thinking: postmetal progenitors Neurosis.

This is a strong possibility if Bonnaroo's lineup underwhelms me. Whatever fest I do I have to fly, and my brother lives in Chicago now... Also, Beyonce.
I know you folks have said that they do a "sponsored show" before the fest. Is this something they typically do? I'd love a shot at killing some conflicts before the fest.

Ty Segall and Japandroids did I think the Thursday before the weekend last year, but I'm not sure about other years.
There are aftershows every night of the fest as well, but you might've already known that. And if I'm remembering correctly Tanlines and Father John Misty each had one even though they weren't at the fest. Then again FJM's might've not been official given his whole bashing of Pitchfork thing, but he definitely played Saturday night somewhere.
