I've been the past three years and thoroughly enjoyed myself. But I don't know if I'll be making the trip this year (if I do, I won't be attending the day Kelly plays.) The fact of the matter is they booked a pedophile. Who likes to piss on people. And trick people into paying money so they can bask in his presence. He's a piece of shiz and a waste of a headliner.
I just hope that someone will hit him with a cup of piss while he's on stage.
Honestly, that sounds like the fault is on the club and the promoter. They booked him for an appearance. He appeared and took the money. Would it have been that much better if he performed for 10-15 minutes? Because based on those quotes from the Ziggy's guy, they didn't expect more than a few songs anyway. It sounds like people purchased tickets expecting a concert. The club should have made it clear that it was just an appearance.
Pitchfork surely hired him to perform, not appear. He will be headlining a festival in his hometown, I doubt he phones that in.
As for the pedobear thing...yeah, I have issues with that. But I still watch Polanski films, so it feels hypocritical to rip on a musician just because I can see his face when he's performing. Awful people can make worthwhile shiz.
Yeah, I've noticed lately that I really don't know what I'm talking about half the time. That said, I still think it's shitty that anyone would charge fans just to bask in their presence.
I may or may not be doing Pitchfork. Too early to tell. Depends on the rest of the lineup/my financial situation.

Probably. Last year, Flying Lotus, Atlas Sound, Sleigh Bells, Real Estate, Cloud Nothings, & Lower Dens were at both festivals. They are not that far away from one another. A band could be at one festival and then hop a quick flight to the other one no prob. P4K & Forecastle have a little bit of a different vibe in terms of crowds and what type of bands they go after so I wouldn't see a ton of overlapping but a decent amount. Hopefully P4k makes another announcement soon!
Is there any idea when they'll be letting go of some more artists? Now with 2 of the 3 headliners at Roo I need to see some more. Horn, I may be willing to take that 3 day. If you haven't gotten rid of it by the time more artists are announced, let me know.
I'm actually pretty bummed that 2/3 of what Pitchfork released is on the Roo lineup. I mean that in a "we need more bands now" sort of way. Without some partial they are gonna start to loose people, imo.

Ever since I started paying attention, which admittedly was like 2-3 years ago, the initial lineup release was always like the last day of February or within the first couple days of March. I don't know if them announcing the headliners way earlier will change that, but if they stick with Fridays I'll bet on March 1st for a big chunk of artist announcements.

Yep. Pitchfork's undercard is going to have to be incredible and unique for them to not lose a fukton people that are going to do Roo instead (Or Roo and Lolla instead of Roo and Pitchfork).

I'm waffling, but there's no way I sell my ticket before seeing Roo's schedule. It's a safety net in case Bjork has a horrible conflict. And as much as I want to see R. Kelly, I don't see how he doesn't conflict with at least 2 other acts I'd like to see at Roo.

Actually when I wrote that, I forgot Belle & Sebastian had announced summer dates as well. They are playing Bunberry Festival. All 3 of the acts they have announced have been announced elsewhere.
I know, gron. It's just moving so slow. I'm praying for tomorrow, but you're probably right. March 1st makes sense.

With all due respect, don't all of the Bonnaroo headliners (the top 10 acts) have festivals announced elsewhere (with the exception of Paul McCartney & The National). The Good with P4k is if you are real big fan of the three headliners, you won't have to worry with their set overlapping with anyone, which is always an issue at Bonnaroo. The Beastie Boys/David Bryne overlapping probably being the worst example i can think of. But I to am getting interested in who will be the next batch of acts. Bummed that the Melt Festival is the same weekend and they took away so many of the great electronic artists. But hopefully tomorrow, P4k will surprise us with some solid acts!

If anyone is interested in going to Pitchfork and does not yet have tickets I am selling mine for face value. I was going to go but have decided I'm going to Hangout Music Fest in May and can't afford two trips...

Well, Ireland's Longitude festival will be going on that same weekend and they have announced their initial lineup. It includes such bands as Local Natives, Alunageorge, & TEED will not be present in Chicago this July.
Hopefully a few more bands will released on Friday (if not sooner).

Right on, GL. ATL is the hubz of the worldz you know. I can generally get a plane ticket to chicago for around $79-99 one way if I wait it out for the Delta deals. When are y'all flying? I can keep my eyes peeled for that flight when I buy.

Cool! Im a Delta girl, it's ridiculously cheap when you live at their HQ. So we WILL see you there! I'm at Chico's house too, so we'll all be rooooooomiessss. Or floooooriesss, since I imagine that Chico does not live in a 5 room mansion.

That carpet will once again be my melting pot tomorrow.
Gentlemen, if you'd like to know how I get the ladies buy my book, The Chico Method. Then buy this carpet. One of the two will work for you. I'm guessing the later.
