I haven't seen a thread for this, so I figured I would start it up. Anybody go last year or plan on going this year? The lineup is suppose to drop around the same time bonnaroo's does.
Very familiar with Cincinnati, make trips every summer to go watch the Reds, and been to a few Bengal games as well. I also went up for oktoberfest two years ago. I doubt I will go to this festival... especially since the Reds will not be in town. Who knows that lineup may surprise me.

I was supposed to go this year (just for weezer (quack the haters)) but ended up not being able to. That said, depending on the line up, I might make it down for av day or too. Line up dependent of course.

I would have liked to caught Jane's Addiction but the rest of the lineup didn't hold much for me. They also could benefit by scheduling on a weekend different from Forecastle but I suppose if they hope to make a name for themselves going after the most obvious competition head to head isn't a bad way to do so. Unfortunately they really need to step up their game for it to be a successful tactic.
What happens if my tee shot lands on a bird's back and he carries it out of bounds but then is attacked by a larger bird who grabs the ball and drops it in the hole? Is that still a hole in one? 'Cause that's how I'm gonna play it.
Very interesting read actually. That promoter answered the questions very honestly. Was a good behind the scenes look at not just this festival, but festival booking, stage placement, etc in general. I grew up in Cincy (live in Indy now) and went to Forecastle last year. But I'm still interested in this lineup and am hoping my hometown festival does well again this year.

Not terrible. I like The National. But it's a little bland. Not enough diversity. fun. is a nice get for them though, people will turn out for them for sure.
Not happy that they got Black Joe. How many crossovers were there between forecastle and Bunbury last year?
I think that only Lower Dens was the only band to play both festivals last year. I can't recall for sure. I am pretty sure that forecastle makes band sign agreements that they won't play within so many 100 miles for at least 3 months before or after the date of the festival.
Wonder how the Dave Matthews Band show at Riverbend on the 12th will affect the crowd for fun
Yeah that what I was thinking. I follow the Riverbend on twitter, and when I saw that I thought it was the same day as Bunbury. You would think they have some kind of deal worked out.
I don't think it was much of a lineup...not enough for me to make the trip at least.
The price is right and I'll probably do Sunday. Even though The National is at Bonnaroo I can deal with seeing them twice and it may take some conflict pressure off my Bonnaroo schedule. Main determining factor is to see what Forecastle brings out in two weeks when they announce.

I went to Forecastle last year and had a blast, but this year I can't get off work on Friday and Monday and Cincy is much closer for me. At least that's my reasoning. ...
Bunbury was a great time last year. It was pretty small as it was a first year fest but the different stages offered awesome backgrounds and cool setups. Parking was not an issues. Being from Cincinnati we cabbed it for the most part but one of our buddies drove their car and parked it all day so we could leave and go drink some beers, eat, etc. THey had no issues getting a spot in the AM. ALOT of people parked in Newport and simply came across the purple people eater bridge and into the festival. I think people want to link this into similar to Forecastle and other festivals but I think they are going after a different crowd. I am excited to see what they do with this festival this year as they have talked about fixing someone of te issues they had last year (BTW it ran incredibly smooth last years with relatively little complaints). They are expanding their local and microbrew options, they are moving around some of the stages to get ride of some of the sound issues they had last year, adding a VIP option, and they are adding more food vendors. When we went last year, we were able to easily walk in and out. No real waits to get in and the crowds were overbearing. I was able to get close to every band I wanted to see and it made for an awesome experience. I would recommend anyone around this area to check it out for aleast one of the days. A few of the bands also did gigs at some of the bars around town for after shows etc which was a lot of fun.
Besides being from the area, a big high point for me is that kids 10 and under are free. It's like a 'festival in training' program for my kids. To them Bonnaroo is for the grown ups and Bunbury is for the kids. My son was 11 last year...but he's small so it wasn't an issue, this year, I'll have to pay for him but my 9 year old is still free. So if anyone has come across and discount codes - let me know!!

I had a great time at Bunbury yesterday. Considering it's only their second year, they've really got lots on offer for attendees and the setup/layout works really well also. I went to forecastle last year but frankly have been underwhelmed with where AC has been taking that one since they've become involved. I have been attending forecastle annually since 2006 (except 2010 when I went to pitchfork instead) but considering how much the ticket prices increased have since the buyout I can't say I've personally been finding enough value in the lineups. Glad to know I have a second option in Bunbury and will definitely consider them in the future as well.

Lol at the top 2. I will give them credit for putting the festival weekend during a home series for the Reds. I was actually thinking about coming up that weekend since Saturday was a bobblehead night for the Reds. If The Flaming Lips is playing Sunday night then I may get a day pass on Sunday, especially if Young the Giant or Fitz and the Tantrum is playing before.
They're saying another headliner will be announced.
