Seriously, who pays $300 to come to a music festival only to waste 2hrs of your day you could be seeing a show, watching a movie that you can watch at home?
They did play dark side of oz. that was trippy as hell
Which you could watch from home without paying $300 to watch it on a farm in Manchester, TN.
I dnt think it conflicted with something I wanted to see. So the state of mind I was in plus hat AND A/C! It's pretty nifty to kill time. It's an art fest too. Sorta....
I don't think another stage would work. They already have Which turned down so low you can only hear it if you are actually on the stage. Add another stage to compete with it......
What if they did get rid of it. Put the Comedy Tent where the Cinema is now, and then backed Which off into the corner where they could turn volumes back up. Seems like the "sound" is always a problem with Which. Problem solved

The Cinema tent had Steven Bernstein band doing the silent films, which was awesome! Also right after that show they had the R Kelly Trapped in the Closet sing along. Keep the cinema tent!
I won't hate, Phil. I totally agree. I poked my head in once in 2010, saw some sort of documentary about penguins or something on and said, "F that," left and never returned.
Welcome back Bonz, but I do not find it strange that your presence being requested in the Orgy thread and then you showing up, like it was the quacking Bonzai Bat Signal.

The cinema tent used to be better. There were never any lines and you could just wander in there and crash for a few minutes in the AC. But now it is much different. There are lines-I stood in line last year for Steve Bernstein and the volunteers working the tent seemed to have no idea how the process worked-and from what others have said, they aren't cool about letting you sleep in there. I don't really care for it anymore. I would support getting rid of it and putting more music there. They could even use that same set up for some musical acts that would be well suited for sitting down.

I watched the Dallas Mavericks win the NBA Championship in the cinema tent. That made its existence worthwhile for me. I also took a killer nap in the AC during Wizard of Oz/Darkside of the Moon there.
I kind of like the cinema tent. I think the problem with it has always been people going in there to sleep for hours. I'd like to see more of a big pavilion space that was all A/C with the cinema just a part of it and crowds rotated out after every show. The rest of the space could just be a place for people to crash who are wrung out from the heat and don't want to hike back to BFE to their campsite.
As far as more music venues goes, Centeroo is kind of maxed out. The bleed over as it is pretty much ruins a show if you get trapped in the back at Which or the Tent closest to it.

In my opinion its a waste of space and resources.
Bring on the hate, haters!
Phi we are not going to ever agree on this thread I lov eyou like a brother and all but seriously sometimes people just need to get out of the sun and get int the dark and cool down and pass out in a chair all slouchy like a college kid at a library. PLUS there has been music in there over the years what was it My Morning Jacket and Preservation Hall, Les Claypool did his Electric Apricot thing in there it brings in celebrities and did you not see my thread about the Jazz Orchestra being in there last year playing music to Laurel and Hardy silent movie like in the old days of Grandparents and Great Grandparents? I have never had the chance to experience a movie like that. I know skipped some music but hell I wa tired I rolled in by myself last year set up my meager campsite because my friends were rolling in with a bigger one the next day my buddy from Atlanta. And I wandered around after that trying to wade through the sea of tents to find Camp Inforoo (unsuccesfully at that I gues sit was like Shangri-La at that point and I was not in the right mind state to enter it or something I found that shit right off the bat the next day) and I just wanted to rest and recharge so I could get my second dose of Alabama Shakes for the year after that picture I got with Brittany at the Jack White Show. I owed it to her after she was nice enough to stop and take a picture with me and my lady friend to show my full support! I thought I would miss some msuic and instead i get a Jazz Orchestra! Sometimes peopel need to chill out that is what the tent is for you look around people are exhausted. people out in GA with no shade etc. that are smart enough to hit Centeroo so they do not dehydrate and get sick or worse and everyone on this board knows that is a very sore subject on this board. I say we actually need areas like this and that is what purpose they serve. Not everyone has the funds for unlimited drinks or an air-conditioned RV or VIP with little to no walking to go grab something out of the cooler. That is why the Cinema Tent is there for the 99% of us.

I think they should have a makeshift sports bar for the NBA Finals. I like the idea of putting the comedy tent there, & jacking the which stage volume up.
This will be my sixth and I've never set foot in the cinema tent but I love the idea of another place with air conditioning for people to rest. I'd like them to expand the comedy tent so you don't have to sit in the sun for hours to get a ticket.
Back when the tent had couches and shiz, it was a great refuge... screw the movies, they hardly played anything interesting anyway. In more recent years it was more of a last ditch refuge, one which you had to wait in line for and endure crummy movies. It serves a purpose, and they do have some cool things with filmmakers there... I don't think it should go anywhere, if anything maybe be expanded a tad.

As for this whole "why would you spend 300 smackeroos to go see a movie at Bonnaroo?"... why would you spend 300 dollars to eat a hot dog at bonnaroo? why would you spend 300 dollars to sleep at bonnaroo? why would you spend 300 dollars and only stay in the crowd and not try and jump on stage and make a spectacle at bonnaroo?
I mean... honestly, it just breaks down to if there's anything else happening at the given time, if you want to relax in a comfortable area during this period of time, especially if there's something interesting on a big screen. If it's between that or laying in the middle of Which Stage baking in the sun wading through some indie folk band I don't give two shizs about or sitting comfortably in a cine tent being comfortable... no contest for me.
Edit: typo city... I'm not in my right mind, this morning.

It seems that most people that are pro-Cinema Tent are simply pro resting in the AC. I agree that the place is good for some to do that, but then you aren't pro-cinema per say, you are simply pro-tent. Therefore, the tent could be kept, but used for something different. Win/win?

Something else worth noting, the last year I went, they actually had a really interesting Q&A with some people from Children's Hospital promoting the show before it debuted (the actual session had little to nothing to do with the show), and it ended up as a gag that they played on the audience... showing graphic birth footage and other surgical video, it was something else to put it lightly.
Basically, they should keep it, but not just relegate it to watching something on a screen, whether it be soccer or movies... we have the comedy tent for comedy, using the tent for other types of exhibitions like a q&a with other artists of film, music, or visual art.
