Last year was my first 'Roo...
My boyfriend and I brought about $175 cash to spend collectively each day, we brought a ton of food(and it costs $4 daily for fresh cold ice in the a.m.) and he was really the only one buying food in the festival bc he eats every 2 hours on vacation... we scraped by. some things i will bring money for this year that i didn't have for last year... MY beer, merchandise, shakedown.
Personally, that gave me $320 total... but i bought all the water for 2 people and I drink gallons a day myself. refilling in centeroo can be costly. The first day my boyfriend only drank beer, and then after that his advice was drink only water and alot of it during the day and get drunk at night so you won't get dehydrated and run down.
I'm probably gonna aim around $450.00 this year for me and the bf can suffice on his own.
--The food inside Centeroo was awesome, but you're gonna have to pay festival prices. I don't think my boyfriend complained once about the food and he must have visited every food vendor, except when i wanted him to eat fried frog legs. haha
--I borrowed a tent last year from a friend, but bought the canopy for shade(which is a gigantic must)... this year the canopy is coming back and i'm buying an appropriate tent for VIP campsites.
I have a tent, clothes, cooler, pop up shade tent. ticket - $265 Ill probably bring at least a 30 rack and a bottle of whisky - $40 Other stuff that brings me closer to the hot tenn. sun - $60-80 Food to munch on in the morning and while im rocking during the day - $40 Gas to get there - $20 Ill probably bring a hookah too for when im relaxing at my tent and stuff that would be fun.
Thats $445 right there so ill probably bring another $55 to pay for food when i dont feel like going back to my tent and maybe get a poster or shirt or something. I might bring 100 just in case but unless me and my group are renting an RV (another 125 each) then I hope that I dont spend over $500 dollars total. Thats alot of money already for a college student I cant imagine spending 600 dollars like some of you are saying, just on food and souvenirs, that seems kind of crazy.

In '02 and '03 I didn't spend a penny except on party favors. I spend a little more each year though. In '04 I tried the $1 garlic grilled cheese(mmmm) and last year I actually spent about $60-$80 on food/drink just to try new stuff.
As you can tell, I try and bring most everything I need. I usually show up with $200-$300 for party favors and maybe $100 for food and misc. I need to buy a souvenir this year. 6 years and I've never even bought a bootleg T-shirt.
Yes, I know I'm a cheap #$@%.
I still regret not ever buying a souvenir for myself. In '06 someone was walking around with Bonnaroo Nation tees. Nation is my last name, but I STILL didn't buy. What a dummy.

i usually bring about 500-600 with the idea that im basically gonna spend it all, and it constitutes a minor victory if i dont. this basically amounts to around 100 a day in crazy random expenditures, plus gas for the ride down and food that we buy...generally that covers me no matter how crazy my friends and i get down there...although i did sell my sweatshirt to our neighbors the first year i was there so we could afford more goodies...lol
i am glad to see people actually bring and spend more money than i do, though i cant imagine what on (or i can, it just seems crazy to buy THAT much)

Last year I only bought a few meals. I picked out the poster I wanted, but waiting until I was home to buy it, mostly because I didn't want to deal with getting it home uncrushed. I think this year I'll spend a little more on food and maybe get a t-shirt, but maybe not. I'm okay with not buying souveniers, I just need to remember to take a lot of pictures.

This being my first roo, I've had a lot of supply costs so far. In fact, the logistics of it all is what kept me from attending previous years. But I decided that I wanted to go bad enough last Summer to start acquiring camping supplies and get ready for '08.
So far I'm in for about $400 for camping gear(tent, ez-up, air mattress, sleeping bag, chairs, cooler, fl, etc, etc), $238 for the ticket, and $180 for my share of a rental mini suv for the trip down and back. So I'm over $800 already and I haven't gotten there yet! But for gas, food, corn, and other perishables, plus the occasional tshirt I'll be bringing another $800 for the trip, which is more than I expect to need but I don't want to have any regrets due to being low on cash.
The good news is that I can deduct all of it on my taxes due to a web business I have. I just need to snap a few pics, write up an article or two and put em up on a site and I get an instant 30% discount on the backend!
I'm a big poster fan, so I am scared already! Plus if Pearl Jam is there they will have a poster...my $$ is just flying away! Have to have a T-shirt... Hoping VIP will cut food and drink costs way down since we will be close to camp and getting a drink and snacks will be easy. We are bringing plenty of alcohol and some morning food. So far the only thing I read about that is a "must" have is the Grilled Cheese, and they are pretty cheap. I will also treat it like a Disney vacation. Enjoy myself without being a tight wad, but not blowing my life out of the bank either. After all that, as long as I'm getting some $$ from the stupid government I might as well do my part and spend it.

This year I plan on being in the $500- and up range.
We went so broke last year with the car messing up on the way, we did bonnaroo on a budget and didn't really eat much.. except party favors.
But I want to bring some food, like breakfast and snack-type stuff, but I plan this year on getting atleast one good meal a day in Centeroo, and buying all kinds of fun stuff.
I'm riding with a couple of friends, so gas there and back shouldn't be too bad.. hopefully I'll have some money left over so when I get back home I'm not completely broke!
But that's the biggest thing people forget... money for life after bonnaroo! lol, so i'm gonna make sure I have enough left at home to get me through with gas and stuff..

This year im hoping to have 400-600 with me, but who knows what will happen between now and then.
Last year I was pretty strapped for cash, took much food etc with me and had about 100, still had a blast just wished I had more flexibility with spending money. Especially with gas so much higher this year......

If we count gas and all the stuff before roo then my budget jumps up about $500, but if it is just what I bring to roo, for roo it is no more than $200
I went with $350 last year and was doing pretty well until I got into the falafels. I had a whole campsite full of grub and somehow managed to drop some ridiculous amount of money on falafels. At one point I was just buying whole rounds of falafels-"Give everyone a falafel on me!" My Canadian counterparts from 07 have already started trying to predict at which point this year I'm going to come unhinged and start buying falafels like The End Is Near.

I've got to make sure I'm hanging around when you go on your falafel binge.
I'm in school and I don't REALLY work so I live on a budget but my parents bought my roo ticket for my birthday. I'm going on a cruise in May and I actually just now realized that I needed money for both. Maybe I need a job or else I'll take out a student loan or something and pay it back when I'm 60.

Falafels have been the downfall of many a good man
^^^They seem fairly innocuous but they are treacherous little bastards. I've yet to figure out a way to avoid some sort of a falafel related debacle this year. Any ideas would be much appreciated.
the first year i spent about 8 dollar plus another 15 on a sweater last year i think i spent about 40 because i was with a friend. i bring a lot of food and water and its too hot for me to be intestested in anything other than that. i think you shoud plan to bring a little more money than you think you will need. if you like to buy beer at the fest then i would think you would need 250 at least! you dont want to think about money while you are there.
I hope to be able to bring about $600 for 2 people. I'd like to be able to bring some of it back home too. I have all my camping gear so at least that is out of the way.

Bonnaroo is my gift to myself each year - so I splurge...
I usually go home with enough parting gifts to last a fews months... Its like the duty free stores - gotta get the good stuff there while its cheap and available...

hahah! "give everyone a falafel on me!"
i think $250 is a good amount though... with all the money going to the ticket, transportation, supplies, and whatnot im already gonna be broke as a joke.
Just to give hope to the frugal-minded like myself, I spent about $25 on food before entering and $40 on food once inside, and that $40 on food once inside was pure indulgence (I'm a sucker for soft-serve ice cream and late night pizza). Bonnaroo can be done very cheaply. Oh, and if you love well water like I do...save yourself some money and don't buy more bottled water than you need while waiting in line to get in.
You know... I think that's just another part of the experience. Go in with your money and help those in need, like me! I know the karma that comes of sharing with others is great, but someone has to receive the gifts willingly. And I am willing to help all. Honestly, I like to support the artists around camp and within CenterRoo. There is so much love to share through their expressions. I try not to put a dollar amount just enjoy the time there and worry about finding more money later.

Karma to you! I wish their were more people in this world who thought like that.

I have no idea what would be the right amount of money to take with us to The Roo, but i gererally spend an absolute fortune at festivals!!
With the Pound being so fucking amazing, i'm basically doubling what ever English money i save which is just brilliant. I'm going to Washington, DC for a few days before and after and was lookin at bringing about $1,500 for the whole trip.x
My wife and I went VIP last year, then budgeted $100 a day for the two of us to buy bottled water, a beer or two, a few cokes, and a bit of festival food.
We bought most of our drinks from the VIP tent (w00t for 1/3 off) and ate most of our meals there, too, but still had to indulge in the really great festival food that was everywhere.
We stayed within 10% of our budget, IIRC, and had a really great time. We might budget a bit more this time around, since the VIP food was mediocre next to the stuff in Centeroo.
