Damn I wish I was at CounterPoint right now. Not only to see the Outkast set, but also to check out this new Andre hairdo in person. Glad they scheduled a stop in Georgia so early in their tour, this should be an extremely high energy set!
The CounterPoint set was greeeeeaaaatttt. If you're an Outkast fan this is must see stuff.
Ugh, can't wait until Forecastle! Did they do the same setlist as at Coachella?
Yes. I think it was the exact same 24 songs. They played all of my favorites, but if I could have added a few more songs I would have added: 1.I would have liked to hear the 2nd half of "Player's Ball" (they only did the 1st half, and the "It goes, give me ten, and I'll serve you then, now we bend/The corner in my Cadillac, my heart does not go pitty-pat for no rat/I'm leaning back my elbows out the window/Coke, rum and indo fills my body, where's the party" is one of my favorite sections ever.) 2. Git Up, Git Out (with Goodie Mob. I'm pretty sure Cee-Lo was there on the side watching anyway.) 3. Two Dope Boyz (In a Cadillac) 4. Da Art of Storytellin' (Pt. 2) 5. Idlewild Blue (Don'tchu Worry 'Bout Me) 6. Mighty O
I finally watched the Axs broadcast of Weekend 2 of Coach and was SOOOOOOO mad that it was only the last like 3 or 4 songs. I was genuinely upset about it. But, it just makes the anticipation of Forecastle that much more intense. I keep thinking that I should sell my Forecastle ticket because I'm soooo unbelieveably broke right now, but Outkast (and Beck and Flume) keep reminding me why I bought it in the first place.

OHHHH MAN, HOMETOWN SHOW! This is going to be VERY hard to pass up. I'm already seeing them twice this summer (I'm slightly crazy, yes) but I think I gotta add this show for the hat trick. Think of the guests! Killer Mike, Janelle Monae, not to mention practically the entire Dungeon Family all almost guaranteed to show up! I also applaud the organizers for putting together an awesome site with great hotel rates and fully defined ticket tiers. Hate when promoters leave you in the dark. They've already got a map and everything!

Ticketmaster for the Atlanta show this morning was a disaster. I had a ticket in my cart first on the app, then on the site, both times I got booted out when I was trying to checkout. Tried for an hour until it sold out.

I got ATL tickets! It took me less than 10 minutes so I figured it would be fine for everyone else. According to my facebook feed that is not the case.
Ticketmaster's site said that I had a "15 minute wait" for tickets. I got nowhere, and 20 minutes later, I was dialing their automated ticket phone number like a mad man.
After calling about 100 times & getting nothing but a busy signal, I finally got through & snagged a ticket. Whew.
"All in all, the creative act is not performed by the artist alone.. the spectator brings the work in contact with the external world by deciphering and interpreting its inner qualifications and thus adds his contribution to the creative act." -- Marcel Duchamp
Very excited for this show and I was lucky and snagged 2 tickets this morning for Saturday. I had to give up my CounterPoint tickets this year so I am happy that I get an ATL Outkast show.
Damn, what a shitshow! Tried for VIP tickets for both shows and came up empty handed. Now I see they are going for $800+ on StubHub. Those prices will definitely come down but I'm pretty bummed at the moment. Ah well, not ruling this out just yet! And I've still got two shows coming up over the next six weeks, so it's hard to still not be pumped!!

This whole Outkast thing ended up being a huge success. It was easily the best hip-hop show I've ever seen and I can't imagine it ever being topped.
one thing could top it for me and that would be if Jay played a setlist where he slightly tweaked RD, BP, and BA and just played them through without the few filler tracks on each. Then he could have an encore of 5-6 of the most important tracks not on those albums
Even then I'd have to be 3 back from the rail as I was for Outkast. Every person I've talked to who's been to one of their shows has been crazy about it. The weekend one coachella controversy is long in the rear-view.

Snagged two tix for sat in ATL! took me about 30mins of clicking from 930-10....but done and done. So happy I'm gonna catch this tour. And in the 'A' no less. Haven't been able to wipe the smile off all day!
The downside? I'd had at least hoped for the golden tier of the lawn but it quickly became apparent that wasn't happening so had to go GA to assure tix. and even then went to buying the two one at a time to get em to go through, but that worked like a champ! Curious to see how the secondary market prices go on the 2nd tier and VIP tix. Might upgrade if they aren't too crazy.
Just got home from Summerfest. Gary Clark Jr. Opened for Outkast and he was amazing. Damn that guy can play, now I can't wait for Lock'N fest to see him collab with the likes of these greats, Trucks and Cline. it'll be must see for the fans of guitar geniuses.
As for Outkast, holy fucking shit! That was one hell of a show and the crowd was incredible. They kept talking about how the energy there was one of the highest they've ever played for. I'm always skeptical of this for obvious reasons. That made me start to check out the crowd during performance and everybody was up dancing and it was packed. Half of the audience knew every song verbatim, it was crazy loud. Too bad Roo missed out on them, they could've easily been the best show of Roo if they were there.
I've been a fan of these guys since the beginning and after seeing them live I like them even more. The entire show was great but there was a point where Andre left the stage for a few songs and Big Boi did Kryptonite, holy shit, the crowd was so hype for that shit it was unreal. The Roots at Bonnaroo in '07 was my favorite hip hop show but I think this surpassed it.
Cool interview, thanks sang_xcx. I particularly thought this part was interesting
When you started the tour, was it difficult to be onstage after so long?
Yeah, I think people could see it at Coachella, the very first show. It was foreign. My head wasn’t there. I kind of fluffed through rehearsals. A few hours before the Coachella show, I get a message that Prince and Paul McCartney are going to be there. My spirit is not right, and idols are standing side-stage, so as the show started, I’m bummed. This is horrible. In my mind I was already gone to my hotel room halfway through. So Prince called a couple days after. It was my first time actually talking to Prince. He said: “When you come back, people want to be wowed. And what’s the best way to wow people? Just give them the hits.”
I’m explaining to him that I really didn’t want to do it. He said: “I’ve been there. I’ve tried to do other things. After you give them the hits, then you can do whatever.”
Prince told you to boss up, so you bossed up.
He broke it down like this: “You’re a grown man. You’re either going to do it or you’re not.’
On tour, you’ve been wearing full bodysuits, wigs, sunglasses. Is that a person who’s hiding?
It’s always easier to play characters. They actually got André Benjamin the first night [at Coachella], and I clearly saw they don’t want André Benjamin. He loves what he’s done, but I hate cages, and sometimes nostalgia is a cage.
It's interesting how Andre basically admitted the whole first show fiasco was on him.
Then I remembered all this bullshit you were slinging at the time about it all being the Coachella crowd's fault:
Also I kind of don't want to see Janelle Monae at roo now. Was just doing it mostly out of convenience while waiting for Kanye, but still.
You can just as easily celebrate a group of fans without putting down another.
Obviously she and probably all of Outkast's camp was disappointed with Coach. They were probably starting to doubt things till this Counterpoint crowd showed them that people are indeed excited to see them.
So if their show was better, how's that on the audience?
She said the CP crowd was way better. The performers and also someone that was there with the performers(Janelle) and someone that went to both shows (Mayo) can surely notice that? The crowd being more into it is going to make a better show. I didn't say it, she did.
So when I see a band live, and they say thank you Cleveland, you really rocked hard, we thought Cincinatti rocked hard last night but you rocked way harder, they're not just telling me what I want to hear?
No, this isn't the same situation. There was previous discussion here about how the Coachella shows were lacking something and that the crowd seemed dead. I watched both Coachella shows, Outkast never gave any props at all to that crowd. This show they did several times. Then Janelle said what she said and that made it obvious to me that they had issues with that crowd. Of course playing at home had a lot to do with it. Counterpoint probably should have been their first show back, but I'm glad they had Coachella as a warm up.

Looks like I was wrong. I thought it had to be the crowd because Outkast started the show hyped. Dre is pretty good at faking it, because they've been putting on great shows.
