That park appears to actually be a good deal smaller than the space they had at Atlantic Station. Nowhere that I can see they could have the side by side stages. Interesting and potentially disappointing

Not sure about that. It says 17 acres, Music Midtown used to be held there. Anyone know how big the space at AS was?
FWIW, I heard the headliners were Ryan Adams, Beck and Liam Gallagher's High Flying Birds.
also I think you mean Noel Gallagher
Yea, you're right. A friend heard it from a friend who works in the business. Not a 100% source. He did tell me the headliners last year, but he also said Beck last year...

That actually is the park for the old Music Midtown when it was at its peak. The stages will spill into the Civic Center parking lots. Not sure about side by side, but there is room for plenty of stages and people.

I heard Beck was booked last year but cancelled which is why Alabama Shakes was late and a little strange. I don't wanna trust him though because I wanna be in denial about those headliners. Please God just allow Noel to play Don't Look Back In Anger

yeah, I really enjoyed the instant stop/start of the side by side stages...was it like that in year 1?
Thanks for posting this. I, too, was going to wait for the lineup like bacon since I thought there was only going to be a $15 price increase ($199 to $215). But when you said early bird was $125, I couldn't pass that up - got my 3-day pass! Looking forward to the lineup announcement on Wednesday!

Anyone from Atlanta that could compare Central Park and Atlantic Station? Just from looking at Google Earth the one positive I can see about Central Park -- TREES!
They're completely different. AS is all pavement, Central Park is an actual park.
Well, I had figured that part out. I was wondering about sizewise, ease of getting there (last year I only had to deal with traffic for about mile on 85/75), parking (last year I was able to park on-street for free about five blocks away), nearby stores (really liked the fact that there was a grocery store within walking distance of the fest site last year).
Also wondering if there are any decent hotels nearby? Saw a Red Roof Inn across the street that has really cheap rates but also has a 1.5 star rating on tripadvisor.

I don't know the area very well. Looks like it's about a mile from MARTA North Ave Station. Also looks like there's a Publix right there too. Looks like lots of other stuff around too.

I have a hotel booked near Atlantic Station... Although that venue was not ideal, it was laid out pretty well and walking distance to stuff which was nice. Hoping the new place has hotels nearby. I really don't want to deal with the Marta, or having to drive anywhere
I stayed at the Hyatt downtown and they had a shuttle that would take you anywhere or pick you up free of charge (gave you a phone # to call for pickup). It was great, no-one else at the hotel used it and although it was a little further away, I saved tons of $$$ vs taxis over the weekend and had my personal shuttle whenever I needed it.

Really you could stay anywhere that is close to a Marta station. Central Park is an easy walk from Civic Center Marta station. There might not be many great options around that part of O4W.

Update from the Georgia Theatre has Diamond Rugs playing the 40 watt in Athens Friday 5/8. I think we can assume Diamond Rugs, or at the very least Deer Tick, on Saturday or Sunday at Shaky.
