Have they done single day tickets in the past? I'm afraid I'm only going to be able to go Saturday... Will they announce the schedule before they put single day tickets up for sale?

I'm not very familiar with Ryan Adams, Spiritualized or American Football. Where do I start?
Also, I went to college at Georgia Tech not too far from this year's location. Maybe that made me really naive but I wouldn't be too concerned with safety at this fest. Don't wander off alone down any dark streets and you should be fine. Uber is your friend. The walk from the Marta station isn't bad at all so as long as you stay somewhere close to a Marta station you'll have good access to the festival. Last year I stayed with friends in Brookhaven and took Marta from there every day and just parked my car at the station there for free.

Yes they have and they said they're going to this year too. Not sure about announcing the schedule before it though, I don't remember. If you go back on their FB from last year you may be able to find it.

American Football only have one album and one EP, so you can start with the album I guess.

This lineup is too good to pass up not to go. Have a few questions: What is the capacity for Shaky Knees and do tickets sell out fast? Since this fest is in a city do they have late shows?

Last year it was 20k even. Should be similar this year I'd think. Tickets didn't sell out IIRC or if they did it was close to the day of. The festival ended at 11 on Fri and Sat and 10 on Sun but they had aftershows at indoor venues that went pretty late I think.

Yeah they had some late shows at The Masquerade and Terminal West I think. I really want American Football or Neutral Milk Hotel late shows
Checked out Shaky Knees twitter.... it looks like last year the daily lineup came out on February 5 along with single day tickets going on sale that day as well. The actual time slotted schedule didn't come out until April.

Other people have answered your question but it's worth noting you have to buy a separate ticket to the late shows. Your wristband won't get you in. They're really more like Shaky Knees sponsored after parties. But they usually don't start until around midnight so you will be able to rage into the night if that's what you're looking for.

The initial Ryan Adams records you should check out are Heartbreaker (regarded by many to be his best record, and a top 20 all-time album for me), Cold Roses (this was recorded with his band the Cardinals. It's two discs and contains some of his very best songs including Magnolia Mountain and Let It Ride). It wouldn't hurt to also give his last release, the self-titled album a listen. Seen him twice in the past nine months and he plays a decent amount of tracks from the new record. Between his solo albums and the records he made with the Cardinals, there's a solid 12 studio albums to choose from - and that doesn't include all of the unofficial bootleg material floating around out there like the Suicide Handbook and the Elizabethtown Sessions. The only albums I'd recommend avoiding to a beginner DRA fan is Cardinology and Rock N Roll - they're good releases but his two weakest albums imo.
With Spiritualized, the obvious go to would be his album Ladies and Gentlemen We Are Floating In Space. It's a long album - close to 70 minutes - but every song is phenomenal. To me it's one of the best albums ever made. The pacing is absolutely superb, and the songwriting is pristine. Cop Shoot Cop might just be one of the best album closers of all time. In addition to checking out LAGWAFIS, check out Lazer Guided Melodies and Pure Phase, his first two albums, as well as Sweet Heart Sweet Light, his latest album

Top 10:
Spiritualized Built To Spill Neutral Milk Hotel Panda Bear Wilco Mac Demarco Matthew E. White Trombone Shorty Tame Impala
If I'm being honest I really don't care for most of the top couple lines. I'm mainly just excited to go to a great fest near my house with a bunch of people that I want to see. It's also a blessing in disguise though because I'll definitely bail for Sufjan on Friday night. Thanks yeezy for the Ryan Adams write up. I've never given him much of a chance.
Anyone have recommendations for where to begin with Mastadon? I feel like a bad Atlantan for not really listening to them. I don't really listen to much metal but I heard they've moved away from that. Should I just start with the newest stuff and work backwards?
Not SK related, but The War on Drugs just announced a show at Georgia Theatre on 4/2. Tickets on sale now. I thought some other Georgia people would like that info
Ugh, I want to buy my tickets for this, but I'm waiting for my buddy's time off to get approved, and his employer is dragging their feet about it. Already have the hotel booked, but can't pull the trigger on this yet.

If you don't like Leviathan, you're not going to like anything. Also, you can go to hell because it's a great album.

Oh my God!!!!! Posting that Mastodon video led me to a realization. With Clutch on the bill, they can play Blood And Thunder with Neil singing the breakdown. If this doesn't give sang_xcx and dreamingtree #alltheboners, I don't know what will.

Like Yeezy said, for spiritualized, start with Ladies and Gentleman (their third album) and then listen to their first two records (pure phase and lazer guided melodies.) Ladies and Gentleman is an absolutely amazing album. I just hope he plays at least a few songs off of it at shaky knees

I was way ahead of you on that one. I thought of that almost immediately.

Well now the Dead has announced their reunion in Chicago, it trumps everything for me. There is no contest between that and Shaky Knees and I cannot do both. So I am going to try to get tickets and go with Wolfman Jess and co.
As long as I get tickets, I will be selling my 3 day pass for Shaky Knees at face value.

I believe I speak for everyone when I say this makes me hate The Dead even more now.

Haha! I went to many Dead shows when Jerry was alive and there is NOTHING like a dead show for me. A dead show with Trey from Phish, will be a once in a lifetime thing. I cannot miss it!!

Thanks dude. I will keep you posted on whether or not I am headed to hell.
Do any of you have any suggestions for hotels fairly near the venue?
I booked the Hotel Indigo, near the intersections of Peachtree ST NE and 3rd ST NE. It's not right next to the venue but it's within reasonable walking distance
