Do any of you have any suggestions for hotels fairly near the venue?
I booked the Hotel Indigo, near the intersections of Peachtree ST NE and 3rd ST NE. It's not right next to the venue but it's within reasonable walking distance
Well now the Dead has announced their reunion in Chicago, it trumps everything for me. There is no contest between that and Shaky Knees and I cannot do both. So I am going to try to get tickets and go with Wolfman Jess and co.
As long as I get tickets, I will be selling my 3 day pass for Shaky Knees at face value.

We stayed there once. It was fine, nothing special. I'm not sure how far it is from this park, but it was way too far away from Piedmont Park, where we going to see McCartney.

I doubt the Pixies do the after show. The after shows are at a lot smaller venues (Masquerade, Vinyl, etc) and were smaller acts last year. Like Tokyo Police Club, Ghost, and Metronomy. This year Id expect Jukebox the Ghost, The Kooks, American Football and maybe DFA1979.

Man an American Football after show would be stellar

If I can find somebody to travel with I am going to do this. I'm just not really wanting to drive 6 hours by myself, I also would rather catch a ride than take my jeep. If I have to take it though so be it.
So many acts I want to see for $200.
1. The Strokes 2. Tame Impala 3. Noel Gallagher 4. TV on the Radio 5. Kaiser Chiefs 6. The Kooks 7. Old Crow Medicine Show 8. The Pixies 9. The Avett Brothers 10. Milky Chance
Does the fest do any late shows in the city? Moon Taxi put on a good show at a small music venue in Louisville during Forecastle.
thepeppers, It sounds like there are after shows around town but more like ACL where its bands from the line up, not like Forecastle where it was bands in addition to the line up. Also, a 6 hour drive a lone really isn't bad. I did that for Bonnaroo last year and will be doing it this week when I go to Chicago. It goes decently fast when you have a few good albums to listen to. But then again, I like driving, so idk. I thought you said you could take a Megabus? Do that! You could def find someone to room with, or possibly room with me if SES doesn't end up coming. She's still up in the air right now.
WE COULD CARRY ON THE TRADITION OF AWKWARDLY SHARING A BED WITH A BODY PILLOW BETWEEN US ONE STATE AT A TIME!

Yes, yes. Cover the state of Georgia this go around and maybe Lolla next? hahaha.
I will prob do Mega Bus if I can't find somebody to drive with. Not only do I love the lineup, but it works perfectly with my schedule. My last final will either be May 6th or May 7th, be a great way to celebrate being finished with the semester. It also won't interfere with any kind of internship.

I get free housing in Chicago, just sayin..
I'm assuming this means you're going, I'll see ya in Georgia!

They've had lots of bands play after parties that weren't on the lineup in the past.

I'm not 100 percent, but I am about positive I am going. I would like to find a travel buddy, and I want make sure there is not a lot of crossover with the Firefly lineup (already have multiple people wanting to make the trip for that one with me).
I didn't make any after shows last year, but I went to see Goat the first year and it was awesome! This fest has really impressed me. It was $99 the first year with almost 30 acts for two days. This year it was $125 for over 60 and 3 days.
I went to after-shows both nights last year and they were a lot of fun. They were bands that also played the festival but the night sets were way better than the day sets, especially Deer Tick
Making my playlist now and JUST noticed Flogging Molly is on the line up.... I got a chuckle out of that and I will probably be attending that show. Because who doesn't love Flogging Molly?
And, now that I've gotten my shit together I can share my 10 most anticipated acts. In no order, because I can't prioritize:
Brand New Tame Impala Avetts The Strokes Old Crow Ryan Adams Neutral Milk Hotel James Blake Panda Bear Dr. Dog ... Shit, that's already 10 and I didn't get to list ZZ Ward, TV on the Radio, Frank Turner, Mac DeMarco, Interpol, Noel Gallagher, Wilco... fuck. This is going to be a weekend of conflicts.
HOLY SHIT! MINUS THE BEAR IS ON HERE TOO!! This is what happens when you get too excited for the stuff before the middle... I'm so happy I pulled the trigger on this.
As it looks we're going to have to choose between Shaky Kneesand Bonnaroo. Almost everything that is on the SK line-up, I've seen multiple times. Bonnaroo, I have not. It's gonna come down to the tax returns and how we do on that.
Fingers crossed. I really love this line-up.

This is like 2014 all over again..........
Also, for anyone who may or may not attend the Flogging Molly show with me... I will cry. Sounds weird, but "If I Ever Leave This World Alive" has a lot of sentimental meaning to me for lots of reasons... if they play it, I will sob.
