I can't help but think of the possibility that they will have dueling headliners this year. I am usually horrible at gauging how popular acts are, but the top two each day seem to be about the same size. The schedule also seems like it would be too congested during the afternoon and evening. I would hate having to choose between the Pixies and the Strokes, but I'm a big boy and can make a decision. Especially, if it helps free up conflicts throughout 3 days of the fest. IDK, just a thought.
A couple of weeks ago, someone on reddit said they heard Mastodon was "headlining" (closing a stage) from a friend that knows their manager. The dueling headliners that would cause the least amount of butthurt would probably be: Strokes vs Mastodon Avetts vs Social Distortion Tame Impala vs Ryan Adams or OCMS

It is weird that Tame Impala is headlining Sunday but I wouldn't expect Beck to be added. I'd expect Hangout to have something in the contract prohibiting it. Of course, I could be wrong, but I'm definitely not getting my hopes up.
Is there a real possibility that Beck could be added?
His tickets for Charlottesville go on sale Friday. I don't want shall out for tickets if he does get added.
I'd say go ahead and buy the tickets.

I don't think thats the case though since Beck didn't add an ATL date at all

This is probably the way it's going to be. I had it that way on my initial mock.

I'm REALLY hoping we get a Panda Bear LN on Saturday. This doesn't sound unlikely to me, but perhaps there is information I'm not aware of that rules that out. I'm just taking a guess and hoping it is on Saturday because of Avett headlining that day and I'm not really crazy about Social Distortion, so I'll be able to get a huge jump start on leaving the fest and getting ready for the show and I'll actually have time to chill and not stress about rushing to the venue.

Now that Firefly's lineup is all but official, it looks like I'll be making a trip to Atlanta. I really have to applaud the festival for sticking true to its vision of a pure rock festival. Too many festivals try to be everything to everyone and it waters down the lineup. Anyone still looking to split costs for a hotel/cardboard box?

Strokes vs Mastodon Avetts (Prob would leave early to get a good start on a late night show) vs Social Distortion Tame Impala vs Ryan Adams or Tame Impala vs OCMS (This would suck. Don't want miss OCMS, but would if it conflicted with Tame Impala)

I believe he's playing in Asheville that Sat.
Damnitttt, that would've been a kick ass LN show. Thanks though! I wish I could realistically hope for a Spiritualized LN, that would be heavenly, but they're doing levitation so it can't happen. Another one that seems plausible that I'd love is Mac Demarco (and/or FIDLAR)
Btw, I'm guessing that there may be one more stage for smaller acts, whose sets will overlap with both of the other pairs of stages throughout the day. If you don't quite understand what I'm saying, I'm working on a mock schedule and will post it in a little while when I'm done.
I looked at the show schedules of the venues around town for the weekend of Shaky Knees and nobody has anything booked (Tabernacle, Variety, The Earl, 529, Centerstage complex, Drunken Unicorn, Masquerade). I hope this means a big city wide late night effort.
Agreed, this lineup is a powerhouse, they should be pumped for it and trying to one up each other on who has the better latenight shows.
Guys, I'm making a big mistake as I type this... I'm checking out the few bands that I don't know at the bottom of the lineup... I like every act I've looked up... I'm fucked

Damn fine research, dame fine. What about Terminal West?

Actually this could also be somewhat of a coincidence because who would want to book bands against SK? I was surprised Hozier was booked that night at Chastain. Doubt we'll see anything big enough for the Tab.

It'd be cool if we did though. Tabernacle would fit Pixies nicely.

Stopppppp, I can't handle that disappointment. It won't happen though because they'll play so late, they won't want to play again so soon the same night and they'll be down in Tampa for Big Guava on Friday so they can't do it Friday either.

I'm not going to be able to go to this like I originally thought, so I have two 3 day passes that I am looking to unload for a fair price. PM me if you are interested.
What happens if my tee shot lands on a bird's back and he carries it out of bounds but then is attacked by a larger bird who grabs the ball and drops it in the hole? Is that still a hole in one? 'Cause that's how I'm gonna play it.
I just want to point out how kickass the punk late show is going to be on Saturday. With Flogging Molly, Black Lips, and FIDLAR all playing Saturday. At least one of them has to be in a LN show (black lips are damn near guaranteed because they are from ATL.

It was on the Social Distortion website, still is. I could see adding Beck after his tour dates go on sale, or they had him booked and couldn't make it work on Sunday.
"Social Distortion will play the Shaky Knees Music Festival in Atlanta, GA May 8-10. Tickets are on sale January 16 at 10 AM Eastern. For more information and tickets, visit shakykneesfestival.com.
Also appearing at Shaky Knees Music Festival are the Avett Brothers, Wilco, Beck and The Pixies.
The band has additional tour dates planned in the USA and Europe this spring.
