So is SK really getting WIlco to play an hour set? I feel like they gotta change the layout this year with the new location and amount of bands playing
The Avett Brothers need to go play in hell, which will clear up more time for WIlco. It's only fair.
Will there be a concession stand in hell? I needs my liquor.
Alright' so I agree that they will probably make huge changes to the way scheduling is done BUT, I went ahead and came up with a possible schedule using last year's schedule as the template and I simply added one more stage that hosts mostly smaller acts throughout the day. So, here it is...

No. The first two albums are great. They're just terrible live.
I've only seen them once (at Roo) and did not think they are as terrible live as everyone makes them out to be. Granted, I was just so happy to hear their earlier material that I kind of overlooked the other songs. But thanks for your clarification. After reading this page, I thought for a minute that your nice guy pose was just a ruse for a Is this It/Room on Fire-hatred cover-up.
I wasn't there, but I watched online and I thought they were good.

I would be pretty happy with this. The Pixies playing a late night show would be perfect. Wouldn't have to worry about getting a good spot for The Strokes.

I think if the main stages are set up like last last year, I can watch the Pixies whiles waiting for The Strokes. Like I did with Ed Sharpe and Alabama Shakes last year.

My version. I put in The Bronx and John Grant and messed with the times on the smaller stages. I didn't do anything to Sunday though. Also, I named the new stage.

Hey all! Just recently checked out Shaky Knees lineup and am definitely intrigued. Been checking out the Firefly thread here for quite some time without making an account. Doing so now, because I got some questions for ya'll!
1. Will the festival likely end earlier on Sunday? If it goes until midnight that could be a problem. My plan is to drive from Pittsburgh to Charlotte on Thursday, stay at a friend's house Thursday night, drive to the festival Friday morning, stay in a hotel (please suggest to me some cheap, safe options!) Friday and Saturday night, and hopefully drive from Atlanta to Charlotte Sunday night to stay again at my friend's house before heading home Monday morning. Is this a reasonable plan? If the festival goes until midnight, we will either have to bail on Tame Impala or get another night at the hotel (not ideal).
2. With the festival being moved to a park, I assume there will be *some* shade and places to relax? For anyone familiar with the area! I went to Firefly last year and I have a bad back and appreciated being able to lounge out for certain sets.
3. With the two main stages being next to each other last year, if you wanted to be close for a certain artist, you were locked into staying at one stage and just missing the sets from the other main stage? Was the congestion really bad?
4. Was food an issue last year? I've read that people waited nearly an hour at food trucks.
5. How much was it to park every day?
6. Overall, just curious if this place has their stuff figured out with regards to operations. Firefly wasn't perfect by any means, but it seemed to function pretty well, except for massive dust problems and a need for more water stations. Shaky Knees has the best lineup I have seen this summer, which is why I'm here.

Thanks guys!
I'll answer what I can.
1. The fest most likely will end before midnight
4. Food was fine for me last year, but there should be more trucks now since AS had Moes just outside last year.
6. Shaky Knees has really good management and getting in was very easy since they had wristbands and since they don't really check bags that well

1.It will probably end at 11. It may take you forever to get out of there Sun. night, depending on where you're parked.
3. Last year the stages were side by side, you could see both stages from wherever you were. The 2 stages were only separated by a barrier and this fest is not really big enough to be congested.
4. This was the big issue. They did not have enough food trucks. Hopefully they fix that problem.

I'd guess 10pm Sunday and 11pm Fri and Sat. The city requires this IIRC. Food was a problem last year but I think they'll fix it this year. Bathrooms and water stations last year were great, all over the place. I assume they listen to complaints and fix them. Parking will be nearly impossible I'm sure. They encourage public transportation.
1. Will the festival likely end earlier on Sunday?
I would assume it ends at 11. There is an outdoor music/event curfew in Atlanta for 11 and most events tend to go until then.
2. With the festival being moved to a park, I assume there will be *some* shade and places to relax? For anyone familiar with the area! I went to Firefly last year and I have a bad back and appreciated being able to lounge out for certain sets.
There was some shade there the last time Music Midtown was there. There's no way to know how this fest will be arranged though. Wear comfy shoes and bring advil because there's a good chance some of it could be on concrete too.
3. With the two main stages being next to each other last year, if you wanted to be close for a certain artist, you were locked into staying at one stage and just missing the sets from the other main stage? Was the congestion really bad?
The congestion was not bad. But if you want to wait and be close for one artist you won't really enjoy the people on the other stage. I usually just floated back and forth somewhere in the middle without issue last year.
4. Was food an issue last year? I've read that people waited nearly an hour at food trucks.
I never had an issue with food but it sounds like others did. No way to know how it will be this year. Try to bring a Clif bar or something if you're worried about it.
5. How much was it to park every day?
There might be parking at the Civic Center but I wouldn't plan on it. Try to stay in a hotel convenient to Marta. Central Park is an easy walk to the Civic Center Marta station. Also, uber is your friend.

I've been both years and I thought the fest was very well run both times. No reason to assume it won't be even better this year.

So wait, pertaining to the Strokes vs Beck discussion yesterday... to those of you that have seen the Strokes, is it really a snoozefest? That seems to be the general consensus (and maybe you guys are just haters) but if it's the case I'd like to know not to get my hopes up.

Coming from someone who likes The Strokes more than a decent amount, don't go getting your hopes up. If there is a decent after-show that night, I'll skip them and head to that.

What is it that you hate so much about their live sets? What would you like to see them do better?
