Does Shaky Knees usually announce after shows or something? I'm kind of new to this concept. Do venues close to the festival grounds have shows after the SK headliner is done?
Shaky Knees said on facebook that the late nights will be announced in March. The music venues around the city will have shows in conjunction with Shaky Knees after the headliners. I believe they offer tickets for discounted price if you have a Shaky Knees ticket, but the shows are open to the public. I've only ever gone to the late nights and not the actual festival, so somebody else may be better at explaining how to purchase late night tickets with a Shaky Knees wristband.
Where did they actually say they would announce late nights in March?

When they posted the daily schedule on facebook, somebody asked about late nights and they replied with March.

Did the late nights sell out before the hourly schedule came out? Part of what would lure me to a late night show is the appeal of avoiding conflicts during the day.

How is parking around these venues on weekends?
Not great. Maybe they'll have the Civic Center or the Yaarab Shrine lots open but there's no guarantee. Marta should definitely be your first option.
Just came here to say that I also hate the Avett bros.
And that I still have a shaky knees ticket for sale. for $175 That's me losing $34 of what I paid. sch'mon wit it. Ticket in hand. Needs money for Levitation ticket. Will trade for Levitation ticket. haha.

i am 90% now in for this. have my hotel and flight booked. i am probably just going to buy friday/sunday tickets, as saturday is not super appealing to me and it would be nice to have a day to relax and wander around downtown.
so excite! can't wait to see all of your beautiful faces.

Can probably find a 3 day for cheaper than the two one days.

So guyssss, since they haven't announced the after shows, I'd like to point out that Acid Mothers Temple is playing the Monday after Shaky Knees. So if you're local or have the extra day/money to burn, this show will surely be pretty kickass
I've never been to a bigger festival like Coachella, so I can't comment on how SK compares, but his comments about having a more intimate festival (and the future of the festival) are encouraging. This is the first year I've been able to go, but I'm hoping it won't be the last.
I read it wrong. Still, Athens is what....60 or 70 miles from Atlanta?
It's like an hour's drive. I've gone up for shows and driven back afterwards many of times.
I'll definitely be driving up for the Athens show. Seeing them at GA Theatre will be way cooler than The Fox (I do dig the Fox, I'm just not a fan of seated shows, and I'll be there in August). Signed up for Roll Call so I could make sure to get tix for Athens.
And yeah, I do the up-and-back all the time from Atlanta. Will be doing it Saturday for Gogol Bordello.

Nice! How do shows typically work at the Classic Center? I've only been there once and I could've sworn it was mostly seats. I remember the very front having a pit section but it was closed in and security only let a few people in there.

Classic Center? Their site shows its at Georgia Theatre, no? (I've never been to a show at Classic Center)

Ah, it is at the Theater. An article that I read said the Classic Center Nice! That's way cooler. Now I really want to go to that show too...
It's a little strange that a festival named after MMJ and whose founder is a stated big fan hasn't landed them yet. In prior years I wrote it off to the band's lack of touring but this year, they are on a major tour and hitting lots of festivals.

As it is now their first announced show is May 15th which is a little strange with the album dropping on the 5th, maybe one of the members has some commitments before the 15th and is unable to do shows.

I was thinking about this the other day. Are we sure that the fest is really named after the line in the MMJ song? Maybe it has nothing to do with MMJ at all. But yea, I'm shocked they haven't played this fest.
