and the guy who I gave the Sunday ticket to with the promise that he would send me what he could hasn't even sent me a thank you note much less a dime. No reaponse to my emails from anyone I complained to about the whole incident. I know you guys don't want ti hear any more about this so I won't post again. Just hurt and angry about the whole thing. Those are not positive emotions so I am going to disappear for awhile till I can come back as the zen you know
Maybe I'm just an ignorant fuck, but I sat through the entirety of American Football's set. I tried to get it, I really did. But it sounded god awful.
what didn't you like about it?
I think it may have been because I've never heard them before prior to this performance. I couldn't really figure out what sound they were going for and the vocals were unappealing to me. Maybe if I'd given some albums a listen before seeing them live...who knows. Maybe it just isn't for me. I"m probably going to try to give their self-titled album a listen before I decide I don't like them, though.
so what were people's conclusions on good hotels? (assuming it's the same place next year, which is maybe a big assumption since it's moved every year)

Yeah, Mike isn't a great singer but it's more about the lyrics and how accurately he describes his feelings. His voice is more of a statement because he just sounds like an average guy and it just adds on to how relatable he is.
Welcome back Bonz, but I do not find it strange that your presence being requested in the Orgy thread and then you showing up, like it was the quacking Bonzai Bat Signal.

Red Roof Inn in Midtown is not a bad option. Far from the "Ritz" as they say...but within a 7 min walk to Central Park, and you have BK and DQ within a 3 min walk of the hotel. Not to mention it is fairly cheap compared to the rest of the options.

Right on. I'll keep that in mind when I give their self-titled a listen. Maybe live isn't the best way to experience their music for the first time.
I got an email from Shaky thanking me for attending. You're welcome?
You should actually attend next year.
I totally agree. And how things are working out in my life, I probably could have done it this year after all. Sold my Coachella ticket, unavailable for Wanee, and now I am going to be starting a new position at work where I will be required to work the weekend of Mountain Jam, so I am selling that ticket as well. That's a lot of extra funds/vacation days. I could have totally swung Shaky after all... Le sigh.

I wish you could have been there, it was such a great group of people and you would put it over the top.Next year!

We stayed at the Hyatt Place on Peachtree and I would recommend it. Easy 10-15 minute walk to the festival entrance. The room was very quiet in terms of outside noise, though the AC was a bit loud. Free breakfast though we were never up early enough to use it. There is a decent brewpub next door (Max Lager's) - we ate lunch there Friday and Saturday.

Don't give me access to free booze. It doesn't end well. To be fair, Doug G made a valiant effort to get me to put my shoes on. I just thought he was worried about me stepping on a rock.

Top Sets
1. The Bronx (Not even close. Crazy how it worked out. Since Neutral Milk Hotel was announced they were to be one of my can't miss sets, my girlfriend felt the same about Interpol. Saturday, after seeing Mariachi El Bronx, my girlfriend decided that she'd like to see The Bronx, especially considering the fact that they were playing at the only shaded stage. There were maybe 10 people under the tent with about 30 minutes before they hit the stage, she joined the 10, and I took off for NMH. Standing there, in the sun I decided I'd much rather see The Bronx with her than NMH alone. The songs that make up On Avery Island and In the Aeroplane Over the Sea exists perfectly as they are, I was interested to see if The Bronx would go all out for a small crowd. Long story short, I decided to forgo what might be my last chance to finally see NMH to check out The Bronx, and it ended up being one of my top five shows of all time.
2. The Strokes
3. Metz (We also went to the in store show at Criminal Records. Would have liked to have seen Matthew E. White, but the opportunity to experience a pretty unique set from a band that had killed it a day prior, seemed to good to pass up.

I'm suddenly terrified to ever go near your feet again.

Like I'm going to get any attention with bacon and itrainmonkeys around.

We stayed at the Hilton downtown. The walk was super easy, the rooms were clean, and the staff was wonderful. Didn't really enjoy downtown Atlanta a great deal. Went to the Metz in store show at Criminal Records in Little Five Points, and really dug the area. Can definitely recommend checking out the bar Elmyr this time next year.
