I got my waiver and faxed it in on Monday, but I have a question:
Was I supposed to receive a confirmation email stating that they received it? I thought I saw something mentioned in the email saying that I would...might have misread it.
i was emailed a copy of my signed waiver almost immediately after i faxed it. I would double check your inbox and spam folder. If it's not there they may not have recieved it.
For those of you who worked last year, when did you get your assigments? I'm not expecting them yet, but am curious as to when we might get some info.
Dude, I seriously can't concentrate on anything but bonnaroo right now. . .It's to the point where I'm poking myself in the eye with foreign objects. . . I think I just need to be sedated until Tuesday. . . . Dystopian Dream

Unless it changes from last year, you will receive a schedule at check in on Tuesday detailing your shifts and who to report to. I had a double shift on Thursday from 8am to 4pm to assist with vendor set up and last minute stuff as Centeroo opened. Another shift was listed as "open" and I started to worry about missing my final shift (and not getting my deposit back) when I didn't get a call by late Friday. Went by the Volunteer HQ and was assigned a mid-morning shift on Sunday handing out goodies to the VIP campers. Probably could have gotten away with not asking about my open shift but figured I was fortunate not having to work on Friday or Saturday.
Hey guys, what's a happenein? Been lurkin on here this year, wasn't planning on going due to financial difficulties, but was approved to volunteer so will be making my 6th straight journey to Tennessee this year. i'm doing during fest, any meet-ups going on with volunteers since we'll have a night or two w/o entertainment?

i would have done the same thing! Thanks for the info... now i wont be continuously refreshing my inbox waiting for my assigment. I'm so excited to see what I get though!
so i went to wal-mart today to buy my non-perishable bonnaroo items...think i got all the bases covered...50 beers, 5 litres of wine and a 5th of whiskey...i think that should get me through the weekend without having to spend too much money...who wants to help me drink it?
My boyfriend and I were planning on doing a mass volunteer party & beer pong tournament on Tuesday night after we get in (should be around 9 or 10ish). We also plan on having a hookah since he has a steel one.
Come meet me! We should plan a meetup, if everybody is cool we can set details
i went to wal-mart the other day and got all of my non-perishable food. it consisted of beef jekey, trail mix, triscuits and cheese, string chz, pringles, pop-tarts, protein bars, beenie weenie's, vienna sausages, dry almonds, saltines, peanut butter and crackers...i'm going to also bring in some turkey and bread. i figure i'll eat pop-tarts or protein bar for breakfast, snack, then either vienna's or beenie weenies and chips for lunch, snack, then turkey sandwich for dinner and then another late night snack...i figured all the food i got was pretty filling, so hopefully i won't have to get too much food from centeroo (aside from the meal token we get for working)...i also got 2 cases of beer and a box of wine...all of this only cost me about $120...hope that helps give you an idea

I think we may try to bring a grill this year, having scrambled eggs and ham last year for breakfast at my friend's campsite was amazing. I've never tried to cook at Roo before, so this should be interesting...
my boyfriend and I are planning on bringing/eating ALL dry goods this year to save money since we are going to 5 fests total together this summer. My boyfriend made a small alcholol stove so basically, if we can boil it or heat it up we can eat it.
We have a giant box of oatmeal for breaksfasts. For lunch and dinner we will do stuff like pasta, instant stuffing, instant mashed potatoes, canned chili, canned baked beans, mac and cheese, rice & beans, etc. To get some protein in, we will add a can of tuna, or some canned chicken.
You can really do a lot with this kind of stuff, especially if you like experimenting. One meal can be mac and cheese mixed with BBQ baked beans, another can be rice mixed with beans and salsa, another can be stuffing and potatoes mixed with canned chicken, another can be mac and cheese mixed with tuna... you get the picture.
We'll also be picking up some fresh fruit before the fest like apples, oranges and bananas, to put in our oatmeal and as a snack.
Our snacks also include a giant 4 lb bag of trailmix and 1lbs of beef jerky. We don't drink alchohol so we don't have to budget that in. I hope to spend less than $50 to feed the two of us for the week.

So does anybody know when the Volunteers will start getting there on Tuesday? I don't know what the official time is b/c the boyfriend and I are coming in late that night.
I think I'm bringing a couple bottles of wine and a hookah (they don't search volunteers). That way we can party on the first two nights!
As far as food goes, it will probably be turkey sandwiches and chips for us. Unless we get a grill, and I'm not sure how to make one without an open fire....any suggestions?
I'm pretty sure those two foot tall charcoal grills are allowed. Last year, Target sold little one shot use grills. They were an aluminum pan with charcoal already inside and a metal grill that sat on top. They were about the size of a 9x13 cake pan. I haven't seen them yet this year, but I'm sure you could make something similar, probably with dollar store materials. It would probably be wise to set it on something up off the grass, at least while the coals are burning down.
I'm planning on reaching Walmart Monday night so I can be there early Tuesday so I can set up and relax! I'm planning on bringing some stuff for sandwiches and perishables which should last until the vendor open up. Dry goods including energy bars, trail mix, granola will do the rest. I brought stuff to cook last year and didn't so I'm planning easier this year.
I'm definitely up for a get together of the inforoo volunteers!

last year it said small grills were allowed on the FAQ (i checked cause i was thinking about bringing one) but at the gate, the guy who was searching the cars next to us had a whole pile of them.
I havn't looked at the FAQ so i dont know if anything has changed, but as of last year, you were allowed to bring small grills... whether they alllowed them in at the gate, that was a different story! If they don't search the volunteers, that shouldn't be an issue.
Our stove is actually made from a cat food container LOL. my boyfriend made it and cooks on it all the time. He is using it for all his meals at summer camp fest right now.
also, does anyone know what the deal is with showing ID when you get to orientation? I was reading older threads and someone said something about needing to show them your SS card and license. I knew about the drivers license, but didnt know about the SS card. I'm not sure if they still do it this way... if so my boyfriend is gonna have to go digging around for his asap. Anyone who volunteered last year know?

That sounds like fun Bama, it'll be nice to meet you. Don't know about the hookah though. I quit smoking tobacco a few years ago.

They asked for my license when checking in last year and that was the only time I had to show my ID during the festival. Once they give you the volunteer bracelet, you are good to go. Oh, and just to make sure you know, volunteers don't have to wait in line to enter Centeroo. Just walk up to the adjacent exit and flash the bracelet. Security will likely search your bag but it is nice to bypass the zoo at the entrance and save about 15 minutes of waiting.

Security was kind of a pain in the ass about this last year though...we did have to wait in line a couple of times. They said that technically we had to wait in line with everyone else. We took to wearing our staff shirts and just telling security that we were on our way to a shift, and that took care of that.

^^ Yeah, I emailed Karen because I will be coming in late (straight after I get off work) and she said that it was okay as long as we were there by midnight. I don't know if this is for everyone or just us though.
thanks for the info, everyone! sorry to be annoying, but I have another question....
are we going to be able to cut through to get into centeroo since we'll be camping in BFE? I've read a couple different things... some people say volunteers can cut through VIP, others have said you have to go all the way around for like a 45 minute walk. My boyfriend was thinking we should move out of volunteer camping on thursday morning if that's the case, but id rather stay!
Hey guys, I'm back again from last year, and this year I'm volunteering! I'm excited, but am wondering a couple things..
In the past, have you guys been able to work with the people that you put in your "request to work with" or whatever it was in the application? I would like to have the same shift times as my girlfriend, that way we can have a great time together.
Also, do they care if the staff camps in Tent Only? I would much rather that due to the closeness and I enjoyed Tent Only last year. What would happen if my friend, who is also volunteering, left his car in the Staff camping and camped in Tent Only?

I was never able to cut through the VIP area last year. That said, they did set up an "path" to Centeroo that led to the left side of the What Stage field. It saved quite a bit of time in walking since it would take about 30 min to walk the long route around VIP camping to the main entrance. Not sure if they will set it up again this year if the VIP area expanded though.
I love this thread, volunteering, and beer pong tournaments! Volunteer camping sounds like a blast. I wonder if leaving for Tent only is even worth it...
I think I can cover food till Wednesday- does anyone know when that bus will stop going into town? I'd like to restock on my almonds and turkey for the festival! Although, due to desirable circumstances, I'm never really that hungry during the fest.
