Dude, I seriously can't concentrate on anything but bonnaroo right now. . .It's to the point where I'm poking myself in the eye with foreign objects. . . I think I just need to be sedated until Tuesday. . . . Dystopian Dream

I'm making a chex mix today and doing laundry....almost finished packing! Monday will consist of playing with my pup and sleeping!!! I've been outside doing yard work today, boy was it hot! Hope there is more cloud cover this coming week!

a few last minute questions are they going to give out maps and show schedules or should I print all that out before I go? and how long is the orientation, is it an all day thing or an hour or two? will any vendors be open for us or are we pretty much trapped in the volunteer camp area?, can we walk the farm and get familiar before the crowds?

Print out the map and directions from the confirmation e-mail and print off a schedule from the website. There's a small book that is given out with artist bios, maps, and a schedule but it's likely you won't be able to get one until Thursday.
Last year, orientation was held in the comedy tent and was about an hour long. Best part was walking to it through Centeroo seeing all the green grass. Amazing how much of it was gone by Sunday.
I would think getting into Centeroo before Noon Thursday would be easy since a number of pre-fest volunteers will be working Wednesday. May be asked which supervisor you report to if someone notices you wandering around but probably won't.
i've been really sick the past few days with a terribleeeee sore throat and today it's feeling a lot better, which is making me a lot more excited for b'rooo!!!

This is a terrible first post, but here goes: For those that have volunteered before, are the DTF agents out searching us, too? I won't be carrying anything illegal in, but I don't want to have my car (and all the stuff I've put effort into packing) torn apart.
I just got an email from clean vibes saying I'm a trash talker.
"Hello Trash Talker!
We hope you are preparing for fun-filled days in the TN sun. Please review the attached information which will be posted at each Trash Talker Waste Reclamation Station throughout the Venue, Centeroo, and select areas throughout the Bonnaroo festival grounds. We will have more info for you on site but this will get you started. You will be supplied with your schedule, station map, and Trash Talker t-shirt after the orientation on Wednesday. Please try to save any questions until the orientation as opposed to responding to this email address, thank you! We hope you are as excited as we are to get out there and talk some trash! See you at orientation!"
Anybody else get this position? BTW, I'm during fest.

Last year they didn't search any volunteer vehicles that I know of! We just drove right it!

Thanks for the reply! Good to know I won't have to pack all my stuff back in; I had a hard enough time with that already

I haven't gotten that email, but I thought that trash talker was the only thing left to volunteer for when I applied. But I forgot to put "clean vibes" on the application and I think I'd read you were supposed to to get Clean Vibes. All I no for sure is that I got my final approval and will be checking in tomorrow.

Alright, I got an email and apparently I'm part of the group working the info booth. I'm actually pretty excited about that, it's a good shift, in the shade, close to centeroo and it will be fun (we get to decorate the tent and everything)
Anyway, if you need me come see me at the info tent, otherwise I will be at camp with a big tie-dye sheet and a red and grey flag with triangles on it (fraternity flag).
Car's packed, clothes are packed, all that's left is the cooler and we're set! SEE YOU GUYS TOMORROW NIGHT!
this is my first bonnaroo. AND i was the only one of my friends to volunteer. so they wont be here till a few days after me. meaning i have to try and set up a tent. alone. FML. ill be the awkward kid ill-prepared and cursing.
Sitting here at bonnaroo all set up in volunteer camping! Drinkin a well earned cold one! I'm real close to the walk out exit in my little rv! Stop by and say hello!

I'm back and at work. Only for a few hours so it's not to bad.
Prefest was awesome.
To bad about the mix up with during fest. It sucks that all those people got a free ride and the showers and the t-shirt and a meal or two while some of us that actually worked were not so lucky. I hope that everybody had fun.
To all the during festers: I'm not THE Karen. I was just working volunteer check in. I had so many people ready to yell at me. I was glad I was behind the fence.
Brad Painter is the greatest Bonnaroo Staff member. Kai and James were great roomates and our tree was the best. Camille and Bryce were my favorite. Jersey was fun and adorable
Best quote from the first night was "I rode in on the boss for 19 hours and now I'm pregnant." Which was actually "I'm pregnant and my BUS here was 19 hours."
Wow, I got really lucky this year. I got one 6 hour shift as a ticket scanner and I didn't even have to scan tix because my booth was closed. It seemed they had too many During shift volunteers. I didn't get a staff shirt, but still, I can't complain.
So did anyone hit up the party bus? ahha it was in the additional camping after the showers, a full size school bus.

I WILL NOT volunteer again next year, not after what happened to us this year.
I'm sorry, but having your volunteers come in and check in on Tuesday night only to be told they had to sleep in the Walmart parking lot is UNACCEPTABLE. In fact, it was a breach of our contract which clearly stated that we would be provided with a place to stay on Tuesday night (we weren't).
We had to sleep in our car the first night, waited 5 hours in line the next day (after some dumb woman tried to move the lines and screwed everything up), and then got assigned 20 hours (WTF?!).
Then, on Wednesday, I tried to leave to get my inhaler that my doc called in to the Manchester Walmart (which I missed getting that morning because of the 5 hour wait in the check-in line). The volunteer staff told me that we were "on lockdown" and that we couldn't leave to go anywhere. When I told them that it was a prescription that I needed, they said "you can walk to walmart, the staff shuttles aren't running til tomorrow morning," which was a LIE. The staff shuttles ran all night Wednesday night.
On top of that, there weren't enough showers, enough camping space, or enough parking. Needless to say, if I did my job the way the volunteer coordinators did theirs, I would have been fired a long time ago. It was ridiculous.
