Did anyone get an email from WET today? I heard that we were supposed to get word about our prefest applications today (the 11th) but I didn't hear anything.... just a little concerned, and hoping that I'm not the only one who didn't get an email
I'm pretty sure they just didn't do it today... seems kind of fast.
I went through last year's posts and it seems they let people know what time period they got right before the day you could cancel without penalty, but who knows. I'm hoping they'll give more notice this time after having better organization. They even extended the deadline last year cause they were running late on notifications, it seems. This year's deadline is May 1st as of now.
I just asked on the WET facebook, so hopefully they can get back to me if there's an estimated date of notification.

1st time going to Bonnaroo-1st time volunteering. I've been to many day and weekend festivals, but this will be my first time camping. I've been lurking for quite a while here, picking up some great info. My Coleman tent and Camelbak will be delivered tomorrow, along with sturdier tent stakes. You guys are freakin' great! I would be lost if not for reading all these posts on what to bring. I'm one of the "older" 'rooers, wondering if anyone over the age of 40 will be there?
I put Tollbooth as my volunteering choice. To those that have done it before (or those who know), how have you handled moving your camp once your duties are over? I know they say you can move but your vehicle has to stay put.
Is tollbooth camping in BFE? Do people just STAY in that camping area?
How in heaven's name would you pack up all your crap and move it to another campground without a car?
Sweety ^^ look at the date of the person you quoted.
That's from last year.
Haha, I knew someone was going to question that. I know it's from last year but I thought it would be helpful to know what they were reassigned as if they didn't get pre-fest. I'm not crazy, I promise.
wondering if anyone over the age of 40 will be there?
Absolutely! I'd put the average age somewhere in the late 20's or early 30's, but I saw people of all ages there, from kids to real oldtimers! Just be sure you hit up Buffalo Springfield to be sure that you find some peers XD. (Don't know what's so funny about that though, I'll be at that show for sure!!)

I'll be at that one, but the ONE band I can't wait for is.....The Black Keys!

I'll be at daboatofem as long as they don't conflict. And don't worry BigDinAL, there will be plenty of old guys like me there. Not volunteering (at least for work) but you won't feel "out of place". Welcome to your first Roo. It won't be your last.
Alright, I just saw a post on the WET forums by "Gweny" saying she is a pre-fest volunteer at bonnaroo. It's probably a false alarm but no one has received an email for pre-fest yet, right?

I have not.
Maybe this person is just assuming that her preference will be honored?
For those that went last year, I heard some saying you camped in Volunteer camping like usual but I read on here that someone else camped closer...near the What stage I think. Did they move it? I haven't volunteered since 2009, and we only camped in the Volunteer camping spot.

Yep. Volunteer Camping was in a different location last year vs. 2009. It was closer to the What Stage field but further away from Centeroo in the area way off to the left when facing the What Stage. The walk in was not bad when you could cross the field over to the other stages but that entrance was not always open.

I read somewhere on here about volunteers being able to enter through a different, less crowded gate to get into Centeroo. This guy had named it the "red trail" (he said he made that up).

Is that true?
D
That's the entrance I mentioned in my post but it's not open 24 hours a day like the main one. It's not restricted to only volunteers. I would guess that it is open from Noon to Midnight (or till shortly after the last show on the What Stage wraps up) but don't bank on that.
So, I was curious this year when it said all the volunteers had to be ready a day early. Last year when I volunteered we had to be there on Wednesday. This year when I applied it said I should be available by Tuesday for check in. Just got an e-mail from Bonnaroo and apparently the gates are opening at 7:00 PM on Wednesday this year. Do you think that means we will all have to be there on Tuesday this year?
I would imagine that you would have to be there on Tuesday. That will give you time to settle in and make it to your shifts. Some of which are now going to be on Wednesday evening.
I was thinking about volunteering for other fests that clean vibes is a part of as a way to get in free. I mean a little work and helping out for a free show sounds like a good deal to me. What I was wondering is how much of a hassle is it to fly to the event and try to get all your stuff to the campgrounds?
I would think you have to pack really light because you dont want to be carrying all that stuff to and from the airport. How worth it is volunteering?
I am not the only one still waiting on an acceptance letter from WET?
An acceptance letter? Everyone should have received their acceptance emails by now. What we are waiting on now is the assignment email that tells us what volunteering position we will have.
Right. I think that's what she meant. Knowing what our assignment is...and soon hopefully so we can have enough time to think it over, ask off work, work out rides, etc. before May 1st.
From WET's Facebook (commented by them): "unless you are chosen for pre-fest, you will be working during the festival and will need to be there to check in on Tuesday, June 7th. We will be notifying pre-festers next week." - April 14 at 11:43am
