When I volunteered I asked off of work as if I were pre fest. I told my boss that in the event I didn't get the position that I would work a few more days until I had to be down there.
From WET's Facebook (commented by them): "unless you are chosen for pre-fest, you will be working during the festival and will need to be there to check in on Tuesday, June 7th. We will be notifying pre-festers next week." - April 14 at 11:43am
Alright, so pre-festers get their email some time this week. Exciting news!

I don't remember hearing about one, but that doesn't mean there isn't one. Your best bet with this may be to get in touch with another volunteer who's flying in but renting a car, and see if you can hitch a ride with him / her
Though I already have a ticket, I've been debating signing up to be a volunteer. I'd likely just sell my existing ticket to a friend and use that as my deposit.
Really, though, is it worth it? I'd like to do post-festival work, though I don't know how quickly that would fill up. Seems like a nice way to help out, get a free ticket, and make a new experience.
Or, I guess it could be 2-4 extra days in miserable heat doing menial and likely difficult tasks. :/

From what I could gather, post-fest work was not hard to get. For me personally, I think it'd be pretty hard and I'd rather do during fest I think, but that's just my opinion. From what I've heard, every last cigarette butt is picked up by the post-festers.... effing ridiculous
Ergh, that's what I was afraid of. I'm not against working hard for a free ticket, but I also don't want to be absolutely miserable. Any previous post-festers who can attest to whether or not it's worth doing?

I AM PREFEST!!!!
Congratulations! You have been accepted to be a pre-festival volunteer at Bonnaroo!
If you are unable to work pre-festival, please be sure to let us know ASAP, so that we can open your pre-festival position to another volunteer and schedule you to work during the festival.
We will be emailing you in the coming weeks with more details about working at Bonnaroo. Please keep in mind that by working pre-festival you are required to work more hours than those working during the weekend, being that you will not be missing any music! Each Pre-Festival Volunteer will complete (3) shifts of 12 hours each (or equivalent hours). There is a designated camping area for Pre-Festival WET members.
Pre-Festival Volunteers are required to check in and be onsite by Sunday, June 5th from 12pm-4pm.
Thank you,
-the Work Exchange Team

Do you think pre-fest emails are still being sent? Because I made sure I submitted my application and deposit right after they were made available and I haven't received anything.

I'd email / call them (ask where prefest camps, too!)
If you look at a map from last year it has the volunteer camp marked on it. That's where the pre-fest vols camped at for the past few years.
It's right behind the family camp and POD 7.
That looks like two different places? I see Family Camp and Pod 7 (just North of the tower), but where volunteers have camped is way off to the south east of Centeroo...

I called them up and they said they had a few pre-fest spots left so they sent me one! In my excitement I forgot to ask where volunteers would be camping this year haha, sorry. I'm so happy right now! Karma to the kind lady who let me do pre-fest.
Thanks travelinbeat! I went ahead and emailed WET to ask where volunteers would be camping this year and this was their response. "No map yet, but it's in the Back 60 where volunteers camped last year." I hope that answers everyone's questions.

That's still pretty confusing actually--- as best as I can gather, there were at least two or three radically different places where volunteers camped last year.... I guess we'll just wait and see!

Glad to hear we'll be located in the Back 60 again. It is somewhat removed from Centeroo (out in BFE) but the field is completely flat which makes setting up camp easier. The walk in is long (20 min) if the side entrance to the What Stage field is not open. Taxis are easy to catch from out there since they are operated from the same area. Hopefully the Microsoft shuttle bus will be running again. They were offering selling $10 passes good for 5 rides to Centeroo.
The area marked as BFE in the photo above. This is where Pod 1 is located. The medical helicopter also operates from here. When the gates for patrons open Wednesday, they will fill this section first.

Honestly, as far as BFE goes, the area in the top-right hand corner really isn't that bad. I helped park cars there Wednesday night / Thursday morning in 2009, and it was only maybe a 20-25 minute walk to Centeroo. I would much rather be camped there than most of the area along the bottom or left-hand side of that picture. Plus, when you know you're camped in that one corner, it really limits your chances of getting lost on the way to your tent.
