Whether it's your first Bonnaroo or you’re a music festival veteran, we welcome you to Inforoo.
Here you'll find info about artists, rumors, camping tips, and the infamous Roo Clues. Have a look around then create an account and join in the fun. See you at Bonnaroo!!
Lurker turned poster here... So my gf and I didn't get prefest as we had hoped and are on artist hospitality during show. First, like Jeff I was wondering if anyone has information about this croo?
Second, this is a big roo for me because I'm planning on proposing while there. Naturally I want to be able to spend the majority of the weekend with my gf celebrating, not working. Which is why I was hoping prefest would work out. Since it didn't, I'm wondering how hard it would be to transfer to cleanup crew. Does any one know anything about this or the process? We don't mind staying later or more work, just trying to avoid missing shows we want the weekend I propose...
just email them and tell them your story.. they are usually super cool and, at least in the past, more flexible than WET was.
If nothing else ask if you can be put on a list to get prefest if someone were to cancel or whatever...
i think if you tell them your story, and they believe you, they will help you out..i think you have a pretty sweet Croo though, sounds fun anyway
Just got my assignment! During-fest Roll Like a Rock Star C'roo! I **really** hope this means I can drive folks around in a golf cart!! For some really odd reason I've always wanted to do that!!
Oh, and I'm Andrea!
I assisted with setting up Roll Like a Rock Star last year before everyone arrived on Thursday. The buses uses are super nice and stocked with food that is ordered by the patrons in advance. I'd say it's likely you meet a sports figure or celebrity that is treating their friends/family to the Bonnaroo experience.
I figured the Roll Like a Rock Star folks would most likely be folks with plenty of disposable income or industry types, but based on my experience the last time, I didn't think I'd actually see too many (was mostly behind the scenes when I did hospitality before).
Watchin' a stretch of road, miles of light explode. Driftin' off a thing I'd never done before. Watchin' a crowd roll in. Out go the lights it begins. A feelin' in my bones I've never felt before...

Still holding on to my golf cart dream.
You did hospitality before? What did you do? A lot of us are wondering

I was officially assigned to the Cinema Tent (and shared a moment with some folks who were premiering a certain long-awaited film that year--I'll tell you that story when we get to the farm but a friend of mine was working VIP Hospitality, so I tagged along quite a bit over there. Basically he was responsible for making sure bars were stocked and VIPs were happy--which meant running a lot of errands. He did meet quite a few musicians and other celebrities, but for the most part was kept at arm's length.
Another thought: In regard to the list of volunteers--what if we just had a Google Spreadsheet that we kept updated? I'd be happy to get it started.

I'm also jealous of everyone who's said that they got assigned to artist hospitality...that's the one I wanted
Same here! When I paid my deposit today, I asked if there were any spots still open & they said Artist Hospitality was full but if any openings came up, they would email and let us know.

The database sounds like a good idea! I'm also willing to exchange numbers with other volunteers, especially those going solo, if they want to communicate beforehand and once we get on the farm.

[Updated: 3/27/13, 8pm Eastern] We may make a separate thread for this or find a way to post this list in the beginning of this whole thread, on Page 1. Will let you know if/once any changes will occur. In the meantime, just look for the most recent list and hopefully I can keep it updated daily and accurately.

1) dsh123: If you can't get pre-show, in my opinion, you have 2 options aside from being on the waiting list. You can either cancel and get your refund back (minus a $25 cancellation fee, and as noted above the $25 app fee is non-refundable, but you get back $275) and apply to Clean Vibes post-fest cleanup, assuming it's still available...OR, if available, you could switch to Parking and at least be done by Friday evening. Parking has 2 shifts (one 12-hour and one 6-hour) and it's guaranteed done by Friday night.
2) The spreadsheet list instead of in here: Totally agree the list I keep posting takes up a lot of space. I was tempted in getting it worked out with a mod to put the list on the 1st page in here (already been asked about), but this seems a little nicer, if everyone's ok with not seeing it directly on inforoo. I don't know why I didn't think of using something outside of regular posts... I don't use Google Docs enough, I guess. DystopianDream: Andrea, are you the only 1 that can edit it? Are you ok taking this over or want me to keep at it? I think there may be a way to make it open for anyone to edit, but right now I can't add to it.
3) I'm tempted to have another list of important dates for volunteering info for each year, like the "Important Bonnaroo Related Dates" thread. It could be nice to know around when apps are open, etc. That may be an alternate option of what to put on the first page, I think.
4) Andrea, totally didnt catch how your name is in your screen name. Clever! Looking at the Google Doc just now and how you capitalized it made me realize it, hehe
I think you can add another sheet to the google spreadsheet, might be good to have all important dates there so all of the information is together?
That's possible. Hmm...I wouldn't want Andrea being obligated to watch out in future years in case she doesn't volunteer at some point, though. I think if there's a way to add another volunteer or 2 that are most likely to return each year and/or keep it open to any of us to edit, it may help make sure it can be used for a long while. We could have a new spreadsheet each year of Croo's and then a page with all the dates. Though, I do wonder if that is even appealing to anyone, especially with the shift away from WET now sort of jumbling things up a bit. I'm willing to dig through and find previous year's info, or just start fresh with this year.
I think there's a way to add emails/names to a list of who can see/edit the doc, but I'd want to be cautious with where I put my phone number online, just to be safe. I'm willing to put my phone # on the list, but don't want anyone in the world seeing it. I get enough spam calls on my cell even though I'm not on the Do Not Call list. :-P I guess if it's too complicated, I can deal with it, but figured I'd throw that out there.
Haha thanks for all the info guys, really friendly people on here I can't wait for Bonnaroo! I also have two friends named ryan and mike who have also been assigned during show croo for artist and hospitality, between toddd and amber from recent posts, and me and my two friends we may already know a decent portion of our croo haha. See everyone at the Roo!
It's really only two "d"s in Todd. Although one of them is silent. Not sure which.

Phone number excahnge is a great idea. Like all of you I'm leary of giving mine out over a publi forum, but I'll PM it. I'll also try not to drunk-text anyone

Playing around with the table feature...and this is what I came up with. I'm thinking it's not the best, especially since it still takes up a bit of room on the thread. Hopefully we'll get the whole Google Doc worked out and updated though...
How about we put it into an excel and add as an attachment? Just an idea. Not sure if it'll work lol
Hmm...that could be possible too. So many options...
We could post links to Google doc to either update ourselves when finding out our C'roo or have 1 person keep updated, attach/link to an updated pic of a table with the info maybe, or post a link (or attach) an Excel spreadsheet.
*shrug* Andrea (dystopiandream) already made a nice Google Doc though, with spots for phone #s and Facebook urls and stuff. If everyone's ok with that and we work out who's editing and how, then we could just stick with that.

The database looks great! I agree though, I'd rather not give mine out on here but I'll message it to anyone who's also volunteering. I wonder if theres a way to do a lockable/password protected master list in here? I could just do one myself and then PM it to everyone, as long as you all don't mind getting another message every time someone new gets added. I probably will drunk text you though, fair warning

I love a drunk text, been known to send a few of my own. If you catch me sober at Roo' it's because I'm working or just woke-up.
Here's some pics of the Pod 1 camping area from 2010. I figured these would give first timers an idea of what to expect. We're restricted to a rectangular box marked on the ground to park our vehicle, set up a tent, ez-up (if you have one).
Open fields on Sunday
Volunteer camp (before the during fest vols arrive)
Volunteer camp (after the during fest vols arrive)
Thursday morning after the gates open late Wednesday night
Last year we had a food truck across the road from camp. I'm hoping we get more this go around...

Hey Guys I have just found out that I will be joining the Catering & Hospitality Croo for the during show shift! This is my first time going to Bonnaroo and since the rest of my buddies can’t take any more time off work I’ll be doing it solo. Any words of wisdom on what to bring? (And what not to bring for that matter)

If my friend didnt bail out, she would be so incredibly jealous of you. She wanted to do catering more than anything (she wants to do event catering when done with school). My first Roo too & going solo as well.

Good to here that I am not the only one going solo for there first time. I think It will be easy to make new friends and learn the do's and dont's going through the Volunteer Program. I just hope I dont get stuck working when my favorite bands are playing.
Kinda looks like heaven And it reminds me that I need to buy a tent. Anyone know where I can get a good solid tent for next to nothing? I never camp so I'm having a hard time spending good money on a tent.
