Yeah I think I'm the only one here going to the wharf lol. After msg I'm looking forward to an undersold show. Will phish deliver a standard tour opening run or will they rip shit up for an 80% full venue? Nobody knows!

if casual gossip with Mountain Brook dads in my Uber is any indicator, I think a ton of people went to Huntsville this weekend to check out the new venue and see Panic instead

Everytime phish starts playing a bluegrass song I hope it's My Minds Got A Mind of It's Own. Saw my first one last night since 2003.
Overall another creative and loose show. Type 2 Sigma Oasis to open was awesome. 2nd set had a bit of an identity crisis but still was great. Weird hearing MoMA Dance late in a 2nd set, but I always love WTU? and If I Could was just lovely, usually I don't care about that song.
Encore was fucking awesome. Miami was charming as hell then Izabella bust out. Guessing treys daughter was at the show.
Really impressive and fun run. Forget how great a venue The Wharf is. The energy level from the crowd is decent but doesn't match an MSG or ATL crowd, I imagine there are a fair amount of people in attendance just there to see what this Phish thing is all about. Which is fine!
Just found out yesterday my niece got a ticket to the show tonight, her first show! Super excited for her.
Email from the venue says doors 5 and show 630 so I guess that’ll be 7. Gonna get over early today to get a good spot up top. Cannot wait for two nights of Phish. About to hit the road around 11. Hope everybody drives safe if anybodys going from out of town.
Still super spun. But show was great , venue was sick. Highlights : 2001 and meat
looking at venue pictures it looks freaking awesome, like there isn't a bad seat in the house. almost looks like if you took dicks and cut it in half but also made it taller so everyone is closer.
Sunday Wharf Review: type 2 character zero to open was awesome. was excited to hear Mike's Song next, and the song itself was a good version, but I'm personally not a fan of the big ass Mike's Groove. call me a traditionalist but i like my mike's groove to be three songs, and the middle song should be either IAH or Simple. also there is no way around it, Winterqueen is just a bummer to hear live. Phish has plenty of slower songs I enjoy hearing live and can fit well within a set, but Winterqueen never ever works, it's just not a good song.
Set 2 opens with The Landlady which is crazy, never thought I'd be able to cross that one off my list. The Tweezer that followed was the jam of the weekend, that was the peak of the set and the rest was just OK. still plenty of fun just nothing as crazy as what came before it.
overall the weekend greatly exceeded my expectations, but musically and experience-wise. got to spend all day at the beach and see phish at night. the wharf is a great venue with great sound. some of the sets might have been uneven but like i said i'd rather have the band out there taking risks and getting high rewards then doing a color-by-numbers early 3.0 type set.
also hilarious to see all the reviews from fans realizing OB cops weren't out for their blood. a friend of mine talked with a couple of cops before the show and the cops said the phish crowd was great, they didn't have to do anything, as opposed to the country shows full of super drunk aggressive people they normally have to deal with.
We got to the show right around 5 and got into section 315 (center stage) about 5 rows up. Sound was incredible and even though they didn’t have the whole lighting rig , the lights still packed a big punch. The only downfall was the early start time , but they made up for it during set 2 and the encore. So excited for tonight. I wanted to hear Slave to Traffic light during the 5 shows we will see them this summer and I got it last night. A Prince Caspian would be tight tonight being that we are at the beach.
A possible thunder storm , which didn’t end up happening, delayed entry for about 25 minutes. So we stayed at the hotel until they posted gates were open. This lead to us being about 15-20 rows up, still in the center. The few rows back did not make a difference. The sound was still rocking , it was super loud both nights. The rig again was blasting away. It was a super small venue , 11,000 people.
I got a double Prince Caspian , which was amazing for me. It’s def one of my top 5 fav Phish songs. Got my first Suzy which was an awesome note to go out on. By far my favorite song of the night was Knuckle Bone Broth Avenue. Egg In A Hole was also a sweet transition from Simple > Caspian > Egg in a Hole > Caspian. I didn’t know until after the show that both of those songs are from the Sci-Fi Solider Halloween Set. So I guess I’ll need to listen to that set soon.
I’d have to say night one was more rocking but both shows were great. I don’t know if they could play a bad set, or even a meh set. Night two vids below.
Can’t wait for summer tour. Have Raleigh and both Merriweather shows. First MWPP show will be show 10 for my gf and I, not much but fun to hit double digis

Still v tired from my brothers bachelor party last night but considering snagging a last minute ticket for tonight. How have the first two nights been?

Did you go? I really liked night one. I'm definitely more into the rock side of things than the funky chill stuff and they went hard 2nd set of Friday.

Nah I was pretty wiped. Looks like it was a solid setlist though! I'll get my jam fix at Goose next week I'm sure

PHISH, SATURDAY 06/24/2000 LAKEWOOD AMPHITHEATRE Atlanta, GA SET 1: The Moma Dance > Runaway Jim, Bouncing Around the Room > Tweezer, Strange Design, Cavern
SET 2: Birds of a Feather, Bug, My Sweet One[1], Run Like an Antelope, Frankie Says, Carini, The Squirming Coil, Prince Caspian
ENCORE: Guyute, The Inlaw Josie Wales, Driver, Tweezer Reprise
[1] Botched. Band intros from Trey, extended solos from Fish, Mike, and Page.
Tweezer included an I Know You Rider tease, a Silent in the Morning tease from Mike, and a Fire (Ohio Players) tease from Trey. My Sweet One was botched, which led to band introductions from Trey and extended solos from Fish, Mike, and Page. Trey explained that My Sweet One and Dog Faced Boy were both written about the same person by Fish and that one was at the beginning of the relationship and the other at the end, finally asking the crowd "can you guess which?" Mike "bantered" a bit and showed off his fight bell. During the banter after My Sweet One, Page teased "Charge!" twice.

My first shows, twenty years ago today! I was 18 years old and had just graduated high school. I've probably told this story a hundred times, but around this time in my life I was just starting to get into Phish and trance music. The weekend before my first Phish shows I went to my first "rave". It was at a water park in bumfuck Alabama and it was a hot mess. The Phish shows were way more fun and significantly more impactful/emotional. And not saying the Phish shows were a clean time for the whole family, but it was a hell of a lot more wholesome than a water park with pale sketchy people stumbling around puking into bushes.
I kind of picked my scene that summer and went with it for the next few years. I never completely abandoned electronic music but it was in the background for a while, wasn't until a few years ago that I discovered techno and fell in love with an entire "underground" dance music scene I was completely unaware of. Happy to be a part of both cultures now, although I think I'll always feel a little bit more like a tourist at a dance show.
As far as the Phish shows themselves, they are objectively good shows. I haven't heard "Contact" or "Jesus Just Left Chicago" since that first show. I probably recognized like 40% of the songs? I wasn't aware of what was a jam and what was a new song a lot of the times. 4 song encore night two was incredible. I didn't know Tweezer reprise was a thing and was just excited they were "playing Tweezer again".

22 years ago today.
I just heard Contact for the first time driving home from Roo listening to Phish radio the whole way home. I loved it.
