Whether it's your first Bonnaroo or you’re a music festival veteran, we welcome you to Inforoo.
Here you'll find info about artists, rumors, camping tips, and the infamous Roo Clues. Have a look around then create an account and join in the fun. See you at Bonnaroo!!
I'm not sure I see that. None of them are particularly great soul musicians. They would be better suited from any of the various studio musicians they could get from Nashville, Memphis, New Orleans, etc.
I would really like to see the Alabama Shakes at Bonnaroo this year. I would hate another potential conflict though and I understand that they play very similar sets and they just played last year. i have like 7 of their shows off of the archive.org. Britanny is such a good singer though!

1-1-12 Bassnectar NYE SHOW! 1-21-12 G. Love and Special Sauce 3-1-12 Radiohead 3-9-12 Experience Hendrix 5-15-12 Jack White @ The Ryman 6-7-12 Bonnaroo 6-19-12 Roger Waters presents "THE WALL" 7-7-12 Ringo Starr's 72nd Birthday Party Extravaganza at the Ryman
But Alabama Shakes has been touring off their debut record for over a year now...wouldn't they basically be playing the same show as last year, only probably on Which stage instead of in a tent or something?
I picked a recent setlist just to see what songs that weren't on their album were played. Out of a 17 song show these were new/not on the album:
Always Alright Making Me Itch Worryin' Blues Heavy Chevy Gospel Song Heat Lightning
There are a few bonus tracks from the first album that they seem to play live (Heavy Chevy is one of them). There's also the single Brittany released that was mentioned by someone that could be another song played.
Plus a cover or two. Maybe a guest sit-in for a song. Give them an hour and 15 minutes and it'd be a pretty different set from their Thursday night introduction.
Edit: After looking at their full setlist last year they included a good amount of the bonus tracks and new songs....so maybe then it would be a pretty similar set as the previous year.

Though I am already extremely happy about the line up...some artist and bands that I would like to see are:
Jeff Mangum of Neutral Milk Hotel Beirut The Head And The Heart (just read in an earlier post that they said they weren't coming *pout*) Devendra Banhart Iron & Wine
I too would enjoy a set from Thee Oh Sees at Roo. But if not, all is not lost. They play Sled Island in Calgary the weekend after bonnaroo, and John Dwyer is one of the main curators. FTW
Brett Dennen would be a welcome add for me. He has not toured latley and in making a record now (that will not be out by Roo). He was last with us in 09 and has grown since. No reason to think he will be added but hoping.
If Hundred Waters don't get added as an early Thursday or Cafe act I'll be shocked. They're opening for Alt-J AND The Xx during the spring. Don't let me down Cappstore
City On Down (any time now live version). Wonderful Day. Night Shift. Lay Down. 52-60. Heard The Wold is a classic. and of course CRAZY GAME OF POKER!! check out the live version of that from Any Time Now. how bout a revolution!?
O.A.R. would be a great time at roo i've yet to see them and they were the soundtrack to senior year in highschool my fingers are crossed for their addition.
they were the soundtrack to senior year in highschool
yeah... they were along with some other great shit. and kinda like how i blasted weird al in elementary/ middle school. but since i didn't have my hipster certification back then all the music i listened to back then is void and shitty now right? fuck you. i'll sing my drunken ass off if OAR is there.
and to your other comment.... mumford and black keys were there two years in a row touring the same show. for good reason... they got a shitty spot the first year and came back with a primo spot because they fit roo well, blew up, and now more people will be able to appreciate it. i was at big g during the shakes' crowded ass thursday set so i, along with thousands of others, would love ta have em back on a stage in the middle of a hot, muggy, Tennessee afternoon
plus... the more repeats, the easier conflicts are for you to decide on.

By stating that you "didn't have [your] hipster certification back then," are you implying that you have "hipster certification" now?
For the record, my comment was more a joke about how pretty much everyone who professes an enjoyment for OAR notes that they listened to OAR a lot in high school or college. It's just weird.
Getting off topic here, but how on Earth did the Black Keys have a "sh*tty spot" the "first year?" (I assume you mean 2010?) They were f*cking late night.
I would explode with happiness if Smashing Pumpkins got added. But i just dont see it happening. They are too big a name to be an addition, plus they dont really fit in with the rest of the lineup. When would they play...What stage pre-mccartney?
It looks like they will be gearing up for Europe around the time of Roo. US dates finish mid-May and they start several weeks in Europe the week after Roo. Their gear and stage setup will likely be over there by then.
Turtles are, actually quite sexy, if you think about it. I’m getting an erection just thinking about turtles. No, not a stripper named turtles, that’s not funny. Actual turtles.

This is why I didn't think the Shakes would be back so soon. I saw them play a free show in Nashville a few months back, and it was basically the same setlist as Bonnaroo (minus the Soul Rebels ending). Boys & Girls was one of my favorite albums last year, but I have no desire to hear them play the same set a 3rd time. All of their songs seem to clock in under 3 minutes so there isn't enough variation for me to check it out again. Hopefully, they'll release another solid album this year and be pre-headlining by next year
And for whoever mentioned the Black Keys, please explain how they did the same show twice. I've seen them 3 times on the farm, and all were very different from each other. Infact, the last one couldn't have been like the ones before because they only played for an hour or so.
We must be a week or so out from additions yeah? Or is this still far too soon?
I think it depends on how many sets they are going to end up doing. I seem to remember someone saying there were more bands on the initial than usual, so I would lean toward fewer sets of additions. I could be wrong on that though.
2 or 3 of these additions would round out the lineup for me..
Ellie Goulding Grace Potter and the Nocturnals Infamous StringDusters Railroad Earth Disclosure Marco Benevento JJ Grey Marc Broussard Greensky Bluegrass Soja Bloc Party Tedeschi Trucks Band Metric
