I was a little disappointed with the lack of jam bands as well and started to look elsewhere, but due to the closeness of Bonnaroo to where I live, I decided Bonnaroo was it for me. There's a lot of bands I'm really excited to see on the lineup, but a little more jam bands would make me a very happy girl!
That being said, we've got a couple rounds of additions to look forward to so hopefully Bonnaroo will pull through.
I am pumped about the headliners and there are about 20 other bands I'm excited to see I'm just saying they need to add some jambands if it's a diverse festival bc there aren't any.

Allmans & Tedesci Trucks are both back this spring killing it

I too was wondering about the lack of jambands. Checking out Conspirator now. Really hoping for Claypool's Duo de Twang and the Black Crows. Chris Robinson came out with them for a song at the Hardly Strictly Bluegrass Fest.

I'm going to Conspirator not expecting much. I've seen them a couple of times and while they can be a lot of fun - their best stuff is usually the covers. Compared to late nights last year even having them on the menu is a step up but not as much as comparing them to their primary bands.
Having them there kinda rules out tDB and that makes me a sad panda considering it sounds like they are back to playing well again.

I think that since this has been addressed by Capps in an interview (he said he didn't realize the lack of jam) that the additions will feature at least two jam friendly bands or more.
I'm predicting Grace Potter, Les Claypool or Galactic. Nothing strictly jamband though.
I love the jam bands don't get me wrong. This lineup is wonderful. The undercard is stacked. Even people I didn't even know existed before the drop are great. Three rock and roll hall of famers, zz top, sir Paul and Tom petty, freakin björk, billy freakin idol, soul super jam, Ed helms are you kidding me! Wu tang clan forget about it
its not 2004 any more. Most people that attended the first few are now most likely in their thirties married with kids and a job they cant diych or quit and stuff and can't rally get out for a four day music fest, they need to get college kids with no jobs and their parents credit card to come to pay the bills.
There is nothing wrong with the way they built this lineup. I figure its too old music leaning for the younger generation in their twenties as it is. Plenty for those of us in our thirties and over and plenty for the twenty somethings.
If you don't like the national or Mumford don't go see them. Is ok you cant see everyone anyway you wight as well not see acts you dontwant to see. Thats what I'm going to do. That's it, find something you do enjoy. I am sure their fans won't go see zz top or preservation hall or 4 demension. God for them there's plenty for every one.
Im going to spend the Mumford set resting up for Saturday night heck I am glad they have a headliner I don't like so I can get some much needed rest . Look on the bright side.
All the negativity on this board is driving me nuts. Is a music festival we are soused to have fun.

I didn't mean to sound negative about Conspirator - even though thats how it looks. I really like them and have gone out of my way to see them. That being said, I have seen them and I have found that a good strategy is to keep expectations low because they can really surprise you when they bust out and they definitely have the chops to jam, they just don't seem to have the chemistry (yet) to make that a consistent practice.
Lotus has a new album and they are sounding really tight these days. If we could pair them up in a tent with Conspirator, I feel like that would make plenty of people asking for more jam happy.
Not sure if they count as well, but would anyone consider Suckerpunch in the realm of possible additions with them reforming this year?
I feel confident Bonnaroo will add some jam bands, but with that said I feel like the festival has embraced musical diversity. There are a ton of other jam-only festivals out there that fill the jam niche now. In fact, All Good pretty much looks the same year after year at this point. Bonnaroo doesn't, which keeps me coming back.
Would at least like Tea Leaf, moe, umphreys or someone like that
No matter weather folks agree or not this years roo lacks in the jam department
Looks like the mid 80s. I'd assume it'll be pretty sunny and might get hotter than that with a few rain storms. Does that help or hurt the "jam department"?

Think of it this way. They add three of any of those bands and there aren't going to be a ton of people who suddenly decide to buy tickets. The people who want to see those bands already have their tickets to Waka or whatever.
Now if they add stuff that complements the current lineup it will convince some people who were on the fence to buy the tickets.
Now if the festival is selling on a really good pace and they expect it to sellout we will probably get nothing major in terms of adds.

I am pretty sure like usual the additions are already booked, I don't think there is a lot of last minute scrambling for "big acts" to sell more tickets. I think they just like to keep us excited and involved. Also I can not speak for everyone but I know a lot of people from Nashville that would be a lot more likely to buy a ticket if we got something like that added. My feeling is we will get a few jam adds and a few edm adds before it is all over with. I am pretty sure they have the fanbase for indie pop covered pretty well at this point.

I'm guessing 1 jam band, 2-3 EDM, 1 bluegrass, 2-3 indie pop as you call it
Considering that we already have 8 indie bands in the top 4 lines hopefully they are done with that. Usually additions in the past have fleshed out the underrepresented genres. It really depends on what arbitrary definition of jam band you are using I guess. I mean Galactic/Maceo would be a funk adds, Leftover/Yonder would arguably be bluegrass adds, etc...
Getting Leftover, Galactic, and Keller seems pretty realistic to me considering we are waiting on around ten more acts. Especially a Keller and the Traveling McCourys show which would fit nicely with the Bluegrass we already have.

I don't see Jam grass filling in the empty slot for the bluegrass tent. I expect either something Bela Fleck or something Steve Martin.
I would expect Galactic to be added.
I would probably also expect a Reggae add.
Bela is doing his Chick Corea tour this summer which I doubt we will see on the farm (it would be cool though) and the Flecktones are busy with their side projects. Steve Martin is playing Nashville 5/29 and looks to be on break though he might show up for the Superjam. Keller and the McCourys seem pretty possible plus it would add some real musical depth to the bluegrass superjam.
