Yeah I got those 3 down or listed. All great but there gotta be some other good ones. I know the Revialist make some noise and are good. There gotta be some other bands similar or more on the jam side worth checking out
I caught a bit of the Revivalists from a distance at Wanee last month and really liked what I heard. You might want to check out the Ryan Montbleau Band.
If I was strictly a fan of bands that jam, and bands that are not necessarily jam bands but still might appeal to jam fans, I'd do this:
Thursday: Just hanging near That Tent all night seems to be the best option. Friday: Trombone Shorty > Jason Isbell > Ryan Montbleau > Amadou and Miriam > John McLaughlin/Conspirator > McCartney > whatever Saturday: Preservation Hall > Portugal > Mule > end of Nas > Bjork > Mumford > Superjam > Bustle Sunday: Bluegrass Tent all day > Tom Petty

Just wander around and follow your ears when there isn't anyone playing that you absolutely have to see. Chances are you'll discover some new music that you really like.

Why not listen to a band that isn't a "Jam Band"?
I love some jam bands, but I'll never understand people that act like it's this entirely different genre.

I just don't understand why jam people refuse to listen to anything but jam bands. "I'm not into pretty lights and dubstep" as if the entire festival was dubstep with pretty lights as the headliner. Broaden your horizons.
This will die on the vine within a couple years, just like Rothbury. [/quote] It should be fun for a year or two though. I would expect some lesser known EDM to show up on the undercard. It doesn't seem like the promoters are expecting too much in the form of attendance either.

The reason there aren't any massive jamband-only/jamband-majority festivals (and the reason why Bonnaroo doesn't feature a ton of jambands anymore) is simple: they don't move tickets. The equivalent of all the kidz who would have filled Bonnaroo back in 2002 and 2003 and 2004 to take druqs and zone out to noodly guitars are now listening to EDM.
yeah, i basically made that argument in this thread.
did eff get cancelled or something? that's rothbury reincarnated to suck.

Same weekend as Hopscotch? Yea- I'll be 150 miles south of there in downtown Raleigh.
With Preservation Hall going on the What stage at 1pm on Saturday and Gov't Mule following now at 2:45...I could see those two bands having an extended jam together from 1:00pm to 4:15pm (or atleast some sort of sit in).
