I too, used to get upset when I heard music that I didn't like... then I grew up and realized that I was literally (used correctly) getting mad over some sounds that people had recorded that I didn't agree with and thought "what the quack does it matter, it's quacking entertainment". I still will catch myself getting a little angry sometimes with a "HOW DO PEOPLE LISTEN TO THIS SH*T??", then realize I'm being an a-hole and go about my day not listening to it. It's actually a lot easier than people make it out to be.

I have no issues with people listening to Macklemore, or JB, or Lil' Wayne. The thing that bothers me is when people ONLY listen to that stuff and call it the best music in the world and make faces at anything with a musical instrument in it. It feels like I'm in a different world when I talk to people like that. It's nice to hear an upbeat song about drinking right before you go out or something like that, but some people drive me crazy.

Well, I can legally get plastered at a bar, do something highly illegal, and get full sentencing for it. I guess that qualifies me as an adult. I sort of have a life, most of it happens on the weekends. I do have a job, but most of the posts that I make happen at said job. I have a loving family with a girlfriend and two children that we found near a dumpster that suspiciously look a lot like cats. I am not a doctor, but I can make you feel safe when I hold you at night.

I admit, I had not heard of these guys until the lineup dropped and when I looked them up the first thing I watched was "Thrift Store" like many others. I don't listen to the radio and I'm not sure they are even getting air time on the local stations. I though the song was pretty catchy actually. Not the best stuff I've ever heard but they seem to have an ear for pop tunes with great hooks and an appeal that suits most urban-challenged youths. I personally believe Bonnaroo has strayed from some of the best hip hop acts (J5, Blackalicious, Lyrics Born) that have played in the past and continue to perform in favor of more popular touring rappers like A$AP, Lil' Wayne and Kendrick Lamar. I think M+RL, though they can get raunchy at times, are more on the positive tip like the first acts I mentioned, with colorful lyrics and less-serious subject matter that make for a pretty fun party. They are very low on my priorities list but I would think it could be a fun way to spice up a Sunday afternoon - which can VERY easily turn into nap-time snoozefest in the right sonic environment.

I'm gonna admit that a few times through this post, I felt a bit offended.
It sounds like a few people believe that because I'm a fan of Macklemore & Ryan Lewis or A$AP Rocky, that my taste is rooted in hip hop, which is not the case at all.
Either way, I'm just as excited for Macklemore & A$AP as I am for Paul McCartney, Mumford & Sons, Grizzly Bear, The Lumineers. Bonnaroo 2013 will be a great time, ignorance aside.

Macklemore has a few albums/mixtapes that are "underground" as you may put it. I personally enjoy The Language of My World better that The Heist. The weenie Song and Bush Song, I find hilarious. Fake ID and Remember High School remind me about my younger days/ makes me wonder what the rest of the people in my growing up are doing today. Off The Heist? Same Love (pro gay song).
When I was at church they taught me something else If you preach hate at the service those words aren't anointed That holy water that you soak in has been poisoned When everyone else is more comfortable remaining voiceless Rather than fighting for humans that have had their rights stolen I might not be the same, but that's not important No freedom till we're equal, damn right I support it
I personally, "streetbum87" get frisson every time I listen to this song.
The man is spreading a powerful message of equality, which is something we all can believe in. Neon Cathedral talks about his fight with alcohol/NO NO WORD!!! addiction. Make the Money and Jimmy Iovine is about doing the music you love and not selling out, which inforoo, IMO should love. And to me, White Walls and Cowboy Boots are just plain fun.
This thread was created in the wrong fashion. But now created, needs to change course and be left to those who are excited for them. Will I be front row? No. But I will be there, pending they aren't against a "must see", because IMO, they are a decent artist/group.

Kendrick Lamar's recent album, good kid m.A.A.d city, is one of the best hip-hop albums of the past decade.

I don't like Macklemore all that much, but that shouldn't exclude me from a discussion about him. I can see how you could see it that way, but it's far from the truth. I've listened to his popular songs, recommended songs, and a his entire newest album. I just don't like his style and I think he has far too many "filler" lines and songs. He's got talent, but I think he's trying to hard to chase success. I agree, he does send a positive message, and for that, I respect him. Not many people have the guts to do that who are also chasing success. It just comes off to strong in his songs. Ryan Lewis makes a killer beat though. I have to give him that.
