I rather enjoy Thrift Shop, but seeing this set this past weekend was pretty bad. And by "bad" I mean that it reeked of early to mid-90s-In Living Color fly girls-CHEESE. Macklemore was obsessed with the fact that they had a day set. If I heard him say one more time "you guys came to a hip-hop show at 1:45 in the afternoon!" one more time, I was going to be sick with Siggy. There was also this whole bit where he introduced a "friend from Great Britain" and he left the stage while a long, ridiculous intro played, describing this "guest" as the spawn of Lady Gaga and Ludacris, with some other big names thrown in there, and on and on and on - then Macklemore came out wearing a really horrible blond wig and a sequined cape. Then he played some persona for one song, then left the stage again and came back as Macklemore... It was confusing at best.
I was excited to see them when the lineup dropped. But now I've had my fill for the next forever.

I was a little apprehensive about this show because of all the mixed reviews I've heard/read about them live, but I had to see them. I'm so glad I did, it was such a blast. Getting into the pit was a bit crazy (insane pushing and shoving), but was worth it. Everyone standing next to me was so into it, it just made it that much better.

+1. that pit line was crazy. I was just in front of the sound booth and truly enjoyed the show. i ad some nice DD naked fake ones bouncing to the beat behind me, and from teh girls between us, I learned a bit about him that helps me respect him a bit more as a rapper. I am not a big rap fan so this was the only rap show I saw.
LOVED IT! freaking loved it. it was Loud, I jumped and bounced the whole show. I went home after maclemore because I was just done. almost skipped this one but glad I didnt. well worth it.

I could barely get out of the What field after pitting for Lee Fields for the sea of Macklemore fandom I had to part. Everyone I know who went enjoyed it. I can't picture it being any more fun than Action Bronson though.
We had a lot of fun at this one. My Roo companion is much more into Macklemore than I am, but I still found some enjoyment in there. The girl who danced all over my poor bloomin onion really enjoyed this set as well.

Really fun show. You have to go in with an open mind but they bring the energy and passion. They filled up What and everyone in the pit was having a blast. Not normally my thing but I think he is a creative songwriter for being a rapper.
"It's hard to say whether seeing Kellz backed by Jim James and his lion's mane hairdo or Billy Idol rocking out next to John Oates and his soul patch was weirder to watch. Let's just say both were beautifully bizarre sights to behold."
