I'm watching the full OutKast performance for the first time and it's kind of weird wondering where it exactly went wrong. (Aside from Future getting so much time)
Both Outkast and the crowd seem so into it during the first 1/4-1/3 of the show. I mean during ATLiens the whole crowd was singing the Oh-Yea-Yer part and that's one of the oldest songs. And Andre and Big Boi both seemed on point and highly energetic for that first little bit, then it all of a sudden just fell off a cliff with both the crowd and Outkast.

Andre's bit was a little boring and he didn't sound too hot and pretty sure people just stopped giving a shit once Future finished his first song

I mean I agree with both this post and the post above it but for the first 6 or 7 songs Andre was great.

I think it went downhill when Andre kept repeating shit like "Are you alive Coachella?" and "I know you're tired, Coachella"

Totally agree, the only problem was when he got to the tunes where he had to sing. She Lives in my Lap sounded terrible and, as much as I love Prototype, it didn't sound a whole lot better.
They have a great backing band, but I still think Tame Impala should have backed them.

Can you blame him? The crowd showed no energy from the beginning. They were still as statutes when they were tearing through Da Art of Storytelling for fucks sake. Everyone should've lost it

I heard the reason no one was moving is that it was so fucking crowded you couldn't move. The polo grounds aren't really set up to have 60,000 people watching one set.
This actually makes a lot of sense. I didn't even think about the size of crowd vs festival grounds size. I bet that crowd was really uncomfortable to be in.

Even putting your hands up would've been something, they were completely still

The crowd doesn't owe the performer anything. It's great if they're energetic, but saying a performer put on a bad show because of a crowd is totally backwards.
Edit: It's really hard for me to not spam the world with my love for this set, esp. cuz EDM usually isn't my genre so my love for this is unprecedented. But this was heavenly. I'll try to restrain myself. Also paging SilentEyedStorm because I know she was interested in this as well.

Not true. Try it for yourself, next time you're giving a presentation tell everyone to look at their phone and talk, then try to give a good presentation. You won't be able to do it

Also try acting like nothing is wrong when something is going wrong with your voice at your huge reunion show at one of the biggest festivals in the world. I don't understand what people expected from him? How do you expect him to still put on a high energy show when he's losing his voice? Can you imagine how bad he felt that that was happening? I think people are overreacting, other than the Love Below section I thought he was into it and still put on good show. Maybe people just forget how weird Dre is? He's going to have weird mannerisms on stage. I've been an Outkast fan since the beginning, never saw them live and I wasn't disappointed at all in their performance.
To be fair, did you guys see how Pharrell dealt with losing his voice completely, mid-set?
Handled like a true professional.
Pharrell stopped singing and sulked for a while. Dre never quit.
I'm not mad about it, I don't even think it was that bad. I just think he's a professional, and he doesn't need us to make excuses for him. He could have chosen to play arenas where he would have received more love, but chose festivals instead.
