Yes you can do payment plan with presale, and the first payment was $60ish, and the subsequent payments were just under $40/month. And there's no penalty for doing the payment plan, which is awesome. Do. It.
Haha. I feel like I need to just to avoid the harassment I will get by certain parties otherwise.

Triple post: me and mayo got to touch Win Butler last night. He ran out into the crowd and stopped right where we were standing, what are the chances of that??
Mayo's face was priceless
Jagwar Ma was dancing right next to us during Holy Ghost.
AND after not seeing any celebrities all weekend ... We saw Alexander Skaarsgard and Jared Leto last night.

Are there payment plan tickets on the presale? How much is the initial payment on them?

I enjoyed just about everything I tuned into watch on the stream this year. Other than the whole Outkast performance (which has been discussed heavily already), were any shows disappointing for anyone who was there or watched online?
This was my second Coachella, and my first weekend 1. I'd say weekend 2 is 90% of the experience of 1. There was waaaaaaay more grass this time around, so I was able to comfortably walk barefoot around camp. The special guests were far greater in number which is always an added bonus. On the negative side of things there were more hiccups. The water stations didn't work the first 4 hours next to Gobi and there was the whole Oukast ordeal.
Neutral Milk Hotel was my top show of the weekend by far. They played a ton of material not from Aeroplane. I recognized 2-3 tracks from On Avery Island but there were a few others I'm going to track down. I hadn't seen Mangum before, and I don't think I was really prepared to sing those songs with however many thousands of people were there. Goosebumps the whole set.
Top 10 for the weekend in rough order are NMH Laura Mvula Darkside Goat Blood Orange (Dev can shred) Chromeo Queens of the Stone Age Arcade Fire James Vincent McMorrow Beck
Coolest odds and ends in definitive order Janelle Monae coming out for Tightrope. Beyonce coming out to dance during Losing You. I was against the rail and my back ached yesterday from being crushed in the surge forward. Laura Mvula's absurdly contagious smile. The giant red robot. Best. Meet up. Place. Ever.
Outkast was fine. They got cut short and Future shouldn't have been brought out. Andre's solo stuff didn't hold up against Big Boi's. I was dreaming of hearing Pink Matter as Andre's counterpart to Tightrope, that would have been perfect I think. I would have loved to hear a track with Killer Mike and I still can't believe they didn't open with Return of the G.
My flight home is delayed and I'm trapped in Dallas during a layover. Ick.

Everything else I saw seemed pretty awesome. Even Pharrell, despite him having serious trouble with his voice, put on a spectacular show.
I definitely don't mean to put any blame on the crowd at all. From my perspective (the live stream), all negative vibes came from Andre 3000. He was hassling the crowd from the start and throughout the show. He turned his back on the crowd for half the set and called them out on numerous occasions. Maybe that's not how people felt at the show...but from the live stream I was blown away while observing this.
My point is, EVEN IF the crowd was out of it or whatever...Andre can't be doing that shit.
This kinda needs to stop.
First, the crowd wasn't out of it, there were simply so many people there you couldn't actually move (and I mean that literally). I will state this again, when they kicked off with B.O.B. I thought I was at the Super Bowl or something, the roar from the crowd was chilling. They tried some stuff that didn't work (if Future turns up at Governors Ball I'm running on stage and hitting him with a steel chair WWE-style), but you cannot actually fault Dre for this. For starters, in case people forgot, the guy is a fucking weirdo. He has never actually enjoyed performing for people, which is why he literally fell off the map when the duo split. This isn't something he relishes, but it's obviously something he feels he needs to do for whatever reason. Big Boi would perform for 10 people in a bodega if they're into it, the guy is made for the stage. Dre isn't wired that way, his mannerisms and crowd interactions were never smooth like BB's. Also, his mic kept crapping out, and the mic cord seemed to be annoying him.
It was the first performance in a decade for the guy, give him a little leeway. I'm willing to bet he starts to loosen up and enjoy himself more up there, but it was obvious he was nervous or something.
I'm sorry you all weren't impressed and didn't enjoy a concert via the internet, but it was fun in person sans Future's boring shit.

Holding you to this, because i will be there, and then i can be in the crowd and scream "I KNOW THAT GUY ANONYMOUSLY!!!!"
Would live to hear a comparison to Roo if you have the time. Coachella is definitely on the radar and the only thing that has been stopping me from going up to this point is $$$ and time.
*obligatory "I don't hate Roo" comment (foreshadowing*
I went into Coach with high hopes, and it pretty much met all of them.
The first night the shuttles were a shitshow for the white line, they completely miscalculated how many buses they'd need for that line and people were waiting until well after 3am to get ON a shuttle before an hour long ride home. I walk like most people run, so I probably surged past 5,000 stumbling molly zombies in the 10-15 minutes it took to walk over there. That was truly terrible. To their credit, I waited no more than 5 minutes the next two nights. A common theme I noticed was Coachella constantly reacted to issues and if they couldn't correct them, they'd at least try to make up for it in some other way. They didn't just go "welp...shit, hopefully things get better!"
They can definitely afford to add some bathroom spots so people stop making random corners into make-shift urinals.
Honestly, those were my only two serious complaints, and the 2nd one is more an inconvenience than something that actually upset me.
I know some people think the beer garden stuff is ridiculous, but holy shit did I love it. No huge frat bro neanderthals sloshing beer all over me at any sets was really nice.
I would need someone else to confirm, but from what I was told this year the grass wasn't as full as it usually is, and that plus the 50 mph winds in the desert turned Saturday into a dusty hellhole. I just can't imagine that Roo's sound crew on the Which would have handled a similar situation as well as the Coach folks did. During Queens set it was like standing in the inside of a vacuum while it was on, but they kept their shit together.
I was always partial to Roo's late nights, but getting a solid 6-8 hours of sleep in an actual bed wasn't exactly the worst thing ever. I did kind of miss the unopposed headliner thing, but the headliner sets were pretty much all packed anyway so I don't think it made a huge difference.
The crowd is no better or worse than Roo, just different. You have assholes, you have stupid dickheaded groups of people doing the hand-hold chain weaving through packed crowds (Sunday I just stopped being polite about that shit and broke every one in sight), you still have people who loudly talk during sets and shit like that. The crowd might be a little bit younger overall, but the overall behavior was pretty much right in line with Roo.
Next year I'm simply going to get a place much closer, possibly a group thing at a Villa or something baws like that.

As much crap as I give crazykittensmile about the beer gardens, I do think that they could be awesome.

It also really wasn't difficult to pop into one, grab a beer, do a lap, finish it in 5-10 minutes and be on your way. The only time that was a hassle was after huge sets ended, so just plan around that if you need to pound the booze. Or smuggle a plastic flask in like everyone else.

We went to FYF last year I would just pop into the garden for a beer and transfer another 2 into a container. Put it in my bag and walk out. Easy

Kind of want you to make it more clear. The narrative here changed so fucking much after Future. Everyone posting was going absolutely nuts until Andres solo stuff. Like I thought it was right on track to be on of the best hip-hop shows ever. Looked amazing to me before it lost steam. I have a problem hearing people say that their set pre-future was anything less than fantastic... unless of course, someone who was there was to say it.

Before future set foot on stage I loved every second of it. That really was a head-scratcher, it cut all their momentum. I mean, a solid portion of people were still excited, but a fraction of the people at that set knew any Future songs, and a fraction of those people actually like them. Bad gamble on their part, but really that's the only issue I had with it.

It's much, much easier to nitpick things when watching from your living room on the webcast. We're not in sensory overload like people at the fest so I'm sure certain things (Andre not giving 150%, crowd movement) stand out much more than they really should. I didn't watch the full set but heard people talking about the dead crowd so I went and found a random spot towards the end and saw people jumping up and down. I guess it all depends on what angle/section of the crowd they cut to at a particular moment.
I only watched a few shows on the webcast, but Outkast seemed better than most people were saying about it. Future Islands looked like tons of fun, and the crowd in general seemed to be enjoying themselves just like any other year. People will find reasons to bitch. Let them bitch. They most likely won't attend the festival anyway.

Thanks for the clarity. I was imagining a single tear rolling down my cheek when Big Boi was telling the crowd about how they used to walk in circles when they wrote back in the day then the final Aquemini verse resumed. I was so ecstatic with the stretch of 5 songs from that album in a row. Crazy

Can someone that was there speak to how crowded shows were. I was there in 2012 working the event and I only made it inside the venue for the last show of the second weekend. It was very packed. I tend to watch headliner sets at Roo from the way back near the vendors where I can have my space. Is this even possible at Coachella? Assuming I don't need to be in the Sahara, is there a space at the back of the stages where I can still hear and not be in a tightly packed crowd?

Yeah, how were the crowds for weekend 1? Last year weekend 2 crowds were awesome, being up front for Blur and The Stone Roses with that crowd was beyond amazing and something I'll never forget.
I'm still on the fence about what weekend to go next year.
