Whether it's your first Bonnaroo or you’re a music festival veteran, we welcome you to Inforoo.
Here you'll find info about artists, rumors, camping tips, and the infamous Roo Clues. Have a look around then create an account and join in the fun. See you at Bonnaroo!!
My one qualm about parts of the campgrounds at Bonnaroo. There was a group near us (the one that had the party tent with the door) and every night when I came back around sunrise, they would be blasting music. Fortunately, we were far enough away that we couldn't hear it, but I would've been pissed had we camped next to them. For me, it's a respect thing.
This. I was camped very close to "Camp Blackout" last year and can attest to the late and loud nature of their partying. Maybe I'm getting old, but I prefer my campground to be quiet at night.
You're not seriously complaining are you? I watched parts of Outkast last night from my phone over 3G. Live. For FREE. I'm amazed they don't charge for the stream. Phish charges like $40 for a 3 day stream of them playing. I'd gladly pay $50 for a weekend stream of Coachella. And it would certainly not glitch. But I would have paid $50...... with Coachella consistently selling out they certainly could charge is all I mean.
PS: Ditto on Girl Talk
I'm not complaining in a sense that I was angry. I was legitimately asking if anyone has had any issues or I it was just me. If it's just me it just means I need to do something about my internet connection. I greatly appreciate the free stream every year, as we all do. But I would never pay for a concert stream unless I got to download it and keep it. Only because I generally watch some live then watch the replay later or something because I have other shit going on and can't just sit in front of my computer all weekend long.
And yes. Girl Talk was amazing. Probably my favorite of the 4 shows I watched this morning (Ellie Goulding, Broken Bells, Girl Talk, & Outkast)
Does anyone have a particular suggestion about which hotel to stay in? I'm already sold on going back next year but I'm sure as shit done camping. Ideally it'd be one where it's manageable to shuttle in for the noon sets as well as one I can book on the sooner side of things as I'd like to do this... today. Oh god I just need to know I'm going to be back next year, last weekend might have been my best festival experience ever.
I'm stealing the idea from someone in here and booking a pair weekends in advance. That way I can get it a littler cheaper, secure a good hotel before the dates are released, and cancel (no fee ideally) the weekend that isn't W1. I'm guessing W1 is 10-12, but booking 17-couldn't hurt if there's no fee for cancelling.

What are your numbers referencing in your last sentence?
I thought they were AWESOME! I have to be honest... I had no idea who they were. When the set started I turned the couple next to me and I was like "Is that the guy from the Shins?" I thought his voice was incredible and the live performance really blew me away. The weather was perfect, it was the first nighttime set. Lighting was incredible, and I was just overall impressed. Whoever that Shins guy is, he has a really powerful voice and I would definitely see them again.

Also, how do people feel about W1 vs W2?
Weekend 1 for sure.
Weekend 2 is like watching some other kid play with your toys a week before Christmas. No surprises!

Um I think my tenth overnight festival was also the best one I've ever attended. What a weekend. Was stoked to see some inforoosters, bummed I missed some others. I am without words right now. This shit was crazy beyond belief. I am so grateful to have experienced this. Three days out, and my mind is on complete overload.
In no particular order...
Highlights: Outkast (Hooooootiiiiieeeee hooooooooooooooooooooo) GOAT (! Holy sheez. Must see at Bonnaroo. This blew me away) HAIM (I have 100% stayed away from the hype of this band. Never heard any of their songs, but saw this show and it totally blew me away.) The Replacements (Loved it, but there was NOBODY there. And nobody wanted to start a pit. A bunch of grampas leaning on their canes and young kinds sleeping.) Broken Bells (A welcome surprise.) Future Islands (Where did these guys come from?!?!??! Holy crap! So fun. Dancey.) Warpaint (I had to text my friend: 'they remind me of Radiohead') PIXIES!!!!! (I melted.) Pharrell (Le duh.) Arcade Fire (That was one for the history books.)
Dissapointments: Flatbush Zombies (Just... Meh.) Julian Casablancas (Super sloppy. He was drunk? Mixing was terrible, sound was way saturated. Couldn't understand a word he said. Kind of gave me a headache.) Muse (He was sick, so he was botching alot of sustained notes and relying a lot on the crowd. The crowd didn't know the words so the songs were choppy. The theatrical aspect of the tour bored me and I hate the techno crap. Why didn't I go to fucking Nas?) Lana Del Rey (What was I thinking?)
Luckily... this is a Bothchella for me. MUST sees for next week that I didn't catch Wk1: QOTSA Nas Neutral Milk Hotel Outkast (again) Girl Talk Chromeo
One of these years, I would hope Weekend Two is going to have the "big one" in terms of special guests or surprises.... and then everyone's opinion will change. It always bothers me that demand for Wk1 is so high and everyone always sees Wk2 as just "festival sloppy seconds." They are both really fun times, I hate how one has to be better than the other.

Outkast could have different guests and not have Future.

If I lived closer, I would. Talk about conflict busting. You could have two separate festivals, if you wanted.
I live about 1.5 hours from the polo grounds (maybe 2?). I intended to do this last year. Too much real life got in the way and I had to limit myself to just one.
CKS mentioned I prefer weekend 2.... I do.
For these reasons: 1. Smaller crowds. 2. Improved logistics (all mistakes are made weekend 1 and staff gets the hang of it by weekend 2) 3. Improved sound quality (see reasoning for #2) 4. Easier to get tickets 5. You get to watch the webstream to help bust conflicts 6. You get an extra week to think about the schedule and bust your conflicts 7. LESS COACHELLA HIPSTER ELITISTS!
Ok so here's my theory on why Weekend 2 has less festival elitists. As much as LA rocks and the people here are awesome... Coachella draws the such "omg I'm here just to be here." crowd. People will buy weekend 1 because in their mind for some reason they think Weekend 2 is just sloppy seconds. People actually had signs and banners that said "F!ck weekend 2!!!". LOL. Laughable.
I've done Weekend One one year, and done Weekend Two the other. While I wish I could goto both, Weekend 2 will remain my sh!t.
Future will be in Florida, so I'm already calling it: W2 Outkast>>>>>>W1 Outkast.
Probably so, as that was the weakest part of their show by far. And zero guests would be better than Future. But still, that is one show out of how many? Would take a lot more to change my mind.

Nope. Still not conceding that Wk1 is better than Wk2, I still stand by all of those points. I am going to have a great time this weekend and enjoy all the benefits of weekend two that are mentioned above. I just hate how people's attitude are just "Wk1 > Wk2, no question." Great times are going to be had by all, at both weeks.

Also, considering the delay of Outkast's start time... I didn't see mentioned in this thread... but that there was a problem with the cube set up and that's what delayed it back to 11:30.
We were there waiting for the show to start and they were having a hard time fixating a giant red cloth over the cube. Something I assume would be part of a fun "reveal" for the two of them. The wind was crazy and the crew just couldn't get the damn thing to stick in place. After multiple attempts they decided to scrap the red-cloth notion because it just couldn’t work. Then, they began to recalibrate the video screens. We sat through about 20 minutes of some program director trying to figure out the proper calibration. When all that was said and done, they turned on the fog machines and the bright lights and got underway. So I blame the wind, and Outkasts people for thinking it was a great idea to use a huge giant size red linen cloth as a stage effect during 66 mph winds.
Sorry if someone did mention this already, sorry about that. I kinda sped red through the 12 pages I missed while I was at the fest.

I was super annoyed at Outkast's start time. They sent out that alert that they would be starting 30 minutes earlier because they had so much goodness in store for us. So we left The Knife earlier than we wanted to...and then sat around for the full 30 minutes until they started at their initially scheduled time. Boo.
They knew they'd have to cut some shiz down, so why did they not adjust their plan better? Killer Mike getting a cameo instead of a guest spot was made even more lame because Future was on stage for what felt like foreverrrrr earlier in the set. It put a damper on what was mostly a fun show.
So yes, Outkast's show will be better next weekend. It can't not be.

Not sure if this has already been posted but Coachella just released the Weekend 2 set times and OutKast is now coming on at 11:05. Looking like they are getting a 2 hour set hopefully. Redemption time.
I am beyond glad that I gambled sticking it out for the Knife. Once I was there I knew I couldn't leave early.
Yeah, Phi, how shitty do you feel now?
Not too bad. I had a feeling Outkast would open with my favorite track, BOB, and they did, and I was there to witness it.
Also, I'd like for my first The Knife show to be something other than what they're doing now. I still got to listen to it till Outkast went on. But had I known they would start so late I definitely would have seen the first few songs in person.

I almost forgot to paraphrase mayonaise's giggle-snort-worthy commentary on the overwhelming fashion trend of tiiiiiiight/shortttttt cut offs this year:
"I like having something between my vagina and the world"
Haven't read through the last 20ish pages due to still being on vacation, and today being my first day back at work. I'll prob catch up with this thread a little later tonite. Anywho, don't really know if it's possible, but if I were to wire someone who's going to Weekend 2 some money by Friday, would someone please help me purchase some posters? I purchased two of the 2014 lineup posters, and they gave them to me all rolled up. When I got home last nite, I realized they gave me one 2014 and one from the Paul McCartney year...pretty bumbed about that. However, the one I'm really wanting is the signed Emek print...all sold out by the time I finally made it to the Boutique. I would gladly wire the money by Friday, send extra for shipping to my location, and also include a little extra for the effort. It would really make my day if someone could make this happen for me!
