Probably close to Sasquatch were the average age was maybe 19.
Are there hotel options as Sasquatch? I think at Coach all the old people just stay in hotels.
Kind of, they are just a bit further away. But ya, there are pretty much no old people at Sasquatch at all and pretty much all of them are just chaperoning their 14 year old daughter who loves Mumford

My friends got a good deal at the Homewood Suites La Quinta by the Tennis Gardens. Generally, just look at the shuttle map and shoot for something nearby.
Glad I'll be returning to the desert! The fact that this was my first fest makes it a special thing for me when I return. While it was nice having a hotel for MOEMS, I am of the belief that if there is camping, you don't get the full experience of the fest unless you camp...it's a festival, rough it for a few days.
I really haven't seen any rumors of who is supposed to be there, but Coachella usually brings a solid lineup year after year, so I'm not worried in the least as to who ends up on the lineup. That being said, doesn't mean I don't have my own wishlist.
Honestly though, first weekend has all of the grass and all of the artist collaborations.
Any hotel will do, really. You'll only be there with your eyes closed if you're doing it right!
I see, well, I guess my game plan will be to first try for camping weekend 1. If I don't get through, I'll go for weekend 2 with the hotel. Again, thanks for the heads up, I imagine it's not too difficult getting from Palm Springs airport to Indio?

I'm honestly not sure what the airport to festival options are, since I drive in. If you're doing car camping, you'll need to have a car. If you're doing the hotel it should be easy to get a cab to your hotel and then take the festival shuttle from Palm Springs to the fest each day.

. So I either need to rent a car, or hitch a ride to camp it the 1st week. 10-4
Either weekend is fine imo. I went weekend two in 2012 and although the Dre set had already been spoiled for me, John Forgerty showed up to do a Levon tribute with The Black Keys (which didn't happen the previous weekend).
The celebrities come out for weekend 1, but if the music is what's important to you then you aren't missing much. The artists still give it their all.

I only brought it up because the news got me quite excited - especially since Primavera and Coachella usually share a few headliners/sub-headliners.
Also re: the camping/hotel situation: Camping is a must at Coachella, at least one time. There really is nothing else like waking up to the majestic mountains in the distance and glorious blue skies all around you. It's as pristine as camping can be, and like Chareth Cutestory said, there's an abundance of very interesting and unique sources of entertainment throughout the camping grounds. You also usually wake up to the headliners sound checking - cool perk.
plus I would assume that it's easier to sleep as you don't run the risk of having some jackass bumping wub wubs next to your tent all night.
That's the biggest luxury for me, as I always seem to camp next to the noisiest muthaf*ckas in the place. Also that sand storm last year made sleep nearly impossible for me.
But yes, the camping at Coachella is more convenient/clean/lush/pleasant/manageable than at Bonnaroo.
If you are going the hotel/shuttle route it is 100% worth it to rent a locker (which is located inside the fest, unlike roo) and stash warm clothes/change of shoes/ponchos/etc... so you're not lugging all that sh*t around all day.
I am looking into going to Coachella this year for the first time. Any advice or info on the how hard it is to get tickets and camping passes? I'd assume camping passes would sell out fairly quickly because of the amount they release.
Just reserved a car from the Palm Springs airport for weekend 1. 200$ Canadian for 4 days, not as outrageous as I thought. Also reserved a room at the Economy inn for 750$ for the 3 bright of weekend 2. Both no cancelation fees. So I'm set until tickets go on sale, hoping to get weekend one and camp after reading the last few posts, but the gf will be happy if we get weekend 2 with the hotel. Ready to roll the dice on this one.
