Word. Abra got one of the five passes to that Naked and Famous session I mentioned. She was the only one of the five that actually showed up, so the sessions consisted of her, the band, the two recording people and two AC intern/employees.

We just dropped her off at the studio because Brunch was coming up soon. We didn't know that she was the only one until we had been at Tupelo Honey for 30 minutes.
Would be nice if they brought them back this year.

That's awesome! I was one of seven for Moby. It is one of the better memories I have from that year. Everything musically was great, just some other stuff ruined '11 a bit. I liked the extra stuff happening during the day.
So it turns out I booked a King and not a Double at Downtown Inn, so I will not have an extra bed, as I originally thought.
You will not have an extra bed, but from last years experience -- the King sized bed is big enough for 3 people if needed, and the floor room is the perfect size for a blow up mattress.

Kinda been quiet about my room because I have some friends who have been on the fence about going. But I don't think they're going to commit. Not sure what room/floor I have, but I have a two bed room at the DTI available for split. Or I can pass the reservation on if someone else with a reservation is still looking for a roommate.
So it looks like I am back into the ring for figuring out airport rides. If you have room in your car to pick me up/drop me off at an airport, or if you're flying in and renting, etc.... let me know! I am open with which airport, but I would prefer one that's Southwest friendly

Okay since we're only about 5 hours from Asheville, I'm considering driving over Friday night instead of Saturday morning. If that's the case, we'll need floor space late Friday and Saturday.
I just moved our DTI reservations to Wednesday-Sunday. Decided to take the wife to Biltmore and Curate for the anniversary. Meaning we'll be around a bit more for the weekend.
She'll find out she's taking me to Lee Ranaldo for my present before we leave.

Considering DTI is all booked up and every other hotel downtown is uber expensive... my friends and I are staying at the Super 8 by the mall 2 miles out of town. Rooms are $90 a night with AAA discount. Reviews sounded like it was the best choice between the cheaper hotels in that area.
Im guessing there are going to be a lot of other people in the same situation. Lets bring the party to the Super 8!

I think booking at a secondary hotel is a great idea at this point. I'm not sure anyone even has room in their rooms anymore, I know I don't
It's crazy because at the start we thought for sure we had way too many rooms reserved. Gotta keep this in mind for next year. Book away, even if you only have the slightest notion you are going. There's no up front cost and no cancellation fee if you cancel before the dates you've reserved.

Yep, learned this lesson the hard way in 2011... I wanted to stay at DTI so exclusively that I just outright didn't go since I couldn't get a room. Doing the whole weekend from The Mountaineer last year would have been a little bit of a hassle, for one day it was fine... but I'm much more comfortable with staying at DTI for a weekend, considering price, relative okay-ness of the room quality, and especially the location. After I stayed there when I saw Omar Rodriguez Lopez in 2011, it was pretty much solidified as where I want to stay in Asheville, every time.
Right now I'm under the assumption I'm dumping my DTI room to April and selling my ticket to Steph. And yet that could totally change and I end up at MOEMS.

I'm happy to take the room if you don't end up going. or sleep on the floor or whatever if you do. hell I will just be happy to be there and enjoy a kid-free weekend of awesome music!!!! Now I am glad that i didn't because I racked up over 3,000 dollar of checks to write and credit card bills with a week in a half. I need to overcome this hurdle before charging another big item! I'm still going, I just need to pay this all first

Huh... you're right. Weird! I was just asking you what flight times would be best to avoid littering the thread with out back and forth. I think there are only two on each day- and only one that makes sense for each day. It's paste my bedtime now, but I'll check it all out soon. Maybe tomorrow
