A new major festival has popped up on the radar. The Interlocken Festival—which is being co-promoted by H.O.R.D.E. co-founder and longtime Blues Traveler manager Dave Frey—will take place at Oak Ridge Farm in Arrington, VA September 5-8. The event’s website has just gone live, and there appears to be a Facebook page as well.
A number of details about Interlocken Festival were revealed in a post on the event’s Facebook page, which reads:
“When something ends, another begins”... Interlocken’s two main stages will feature full (2-hour) sets and run seamlessly from one into another without breaks between performances, giving the audience a unique and singular experience. This passing of the baton will ensure that music on the two main states will be continuous or “interlocked” throughout the weekend.
The town of Arrington in Nelson County, VA, is 35 miles south of Charlottesville on Highway 29, at the foot of the Blue Ridge Mountains. The area is known for its local wineries, some dating back to Thomas Jefferson’s day, along with craft breweries and two new hard cider distilleries.
Oak Ridge is a 4,800 acre private estate, originally deeded to two Bristol merchants by the King of England. The concert area will feature food and vendor villages, maintaining an emphasis on locally sourced, sustainable fare. In addition to on-site camping options, we will offer packages at Charlottesville & Lynchburg hotels, local B&Bs, and the neighboring ski resort, Wintergreen Mountain Resort.“
The Nelson County Times also reports that the Interlocken Festival is in its fourth month of planning, and is expected to draw 30,000 fans or more. According to the paper, the event’s promoters are far into the permitting process, and are working with the state’s Depart of Transportation to set up a traffic plan.
This was announced today and is a pretty strong contender for my fall schedule.

NEIL YOUNG & CRAZY HORSE, FURTHUR, ZAC BROWN, THE STRING CHEESE INCIDENT, THE BLACK CROWES, AND MORE TO BE ANNOUNCED SOON!
The whole locally sourced food and sustainability thing mixed with really great artists is right up my alley. Plus, first year fests are always special. I'm really looking forward to getting more info in this (and tracking flight prices)
I would love to make this work. It's only a 8 hour drive, so if I can get another New Englander on board, it's feasible.. Then there's the whole vacation day thing..
Welcome back Bonz, but I do not find it strange that your presence being requested in the Orgy thread and then you showing up, like it was the quacking Bonzai Bat Signal.
Looks like they will indeed be doing single days. On their Facebook, they posted a map of the grounds, and there were two entrances -- one "camping" entrance and one "day" entrance.

That doesn't mean they're selling day passes...that means it's an entrance for people who aren't camping.
It looks like we will be getting a Widespread Panic announcement at some point. There was a pic on the artist page of the site over the weekend. Of course its gone now, and I didn't take a screenshot.
I'm usually not drawn to festivals that lean toward Jam, but this is actually sounding like it's going to be a really well run, really enjoyable festival. Depending on the full lineup, I may go to this. The drive isn't terrible either (bonzai, carpool, yes?). My interest is piqued.

I'm totally down to carpool if we both decide we want to make this happen!
I just stalked their FB page to see if I can find out more about the ticket price and this is what I found:
Person 1: You have responded about volunteering, could you please respond regarding ticket prices?
Person 2: Wolfscream, they have responded in a past post about ticket prices. They said more bands and ticket pricing will be released before the presale and early-bird release.
They posted..."Hey guys, we are thrilled with all of your positive feedback around the festival! We are really excited too! To answer a few of your questions re bands and ticket prices, more bands and ticket package and price info will be announced before tickets go on sale."
