You know, I was just about to start a new thread- asking for opinions on which festival I should see this September... Lockn or Hopscotch... with all the announcements this week, being topped off with Petty today... yea, I'm headed to Virginia this year.

I'm in. I about lost my shiz in lecture when I got the email update.
Question about the ticket prices, what are my chances of getting this current tier price level in June? I am for sure going, already have a buddy or two committed and its close to me...so I don't want pay a higher price, but I am doing Study Abroad in two weeks so finances are a little tight until I get back and working.
Rolling Stones twitter just stated that the headliners are Tom Petty, Wilco, Willie, and Phil Lesh. They also said that Phil Lesh will do an interlocking set with Ratdog and after the two will combine to play another set. Can't link on my phone.
Loving this day-by-day breakdown. I was worried that I couldn't make it due to difficulties getting the Thursday and Friday off, but with Petty and Wilco on the weekend, it may still be worth it. I guess they only did single day tickets a couple weeks before the festival last year eh?

I'm assuming the shakedown stage and triangle stage are the late night stages someone mentioned earlier?
edit: holy shit balls bob weir and Phil lesh playing together! I literally can't wait for this fest. Soooo excited. Not sure how it could get any better than this!
Wow, haven't taken a serious look at this fest yet, but I think it's safe to say they have my money!! I haven't gone through the whole thread, but is there a group of yall that make up a big camp or something of the sort?

I brought up the idea of creating a version of camp inforoo for Lockn a page or two back. I really want to set up something like that. Maybe once we have a better idea of who is going we can try to organize.

Im intrigued especially now that MOEMS isnt happening
Has anyone done VIP or the upper tier camping passes. Just wondering if they are worth it
It seems like the camping is really nice, but I am a little interested in this as well. I am a little hesitant to put 700 towards VIP for this with some of the stories about how everything went last year, but granted it was their first year.
I'm PRAYING for single day tickets, because I really want to make this work but I know I can't make Thursday and probably Friday.
For those who went last year, what was the crowd like in terms of size? I worry that two stages right next to each other means a huge mass of people that's hard to navigate. I just want a decent view and some space to groove! VIP is very tempting if it comes with a pit up front...

From the pics from last year- I can see a distinct pit, but I also see VIP signs... Can someone who went last year tell me if the pit is VIP only? Is there a pit for GA?
Crowd size was not that bad honestly. We would head to the next stage when there was about 15 mins left in the show and be able to get decent seats. We didn't move after SCI last year and got front row for zach brown incident. Good thing is both speakers are wired the same and have screens so if you in front of the one that doesn't have a band you still get the same sound (less drums and non mic'd instruments). I loved the setup.

Pit is first come first serve. There might have been a section albeit it was very small.

It's about 20,000 to 30,000 people. It's awesome sitting in front of an empty stage and getting blasted by the speakers. Really isn't any bad spots. I had assumed that they pits off to the sides were VIP only, but I could be wrong about that, but they didn't seem to give a much better view than just walking up as close as you can. There are some small structures around that people started standing on which blocked our view.

I about lost it when I saw that. I know it's not going to happen, but if they did actually add neil at this point, this would be me:

Man, I'm unbelievably pumped for this. I feel like the festival would go broke if they added another headliner, but I gotta say I love the way they are staggering this lineup announcement. Just seems to get more and more awesome.
QUESTION - did anyone do hotel+shuttle instead of camping last year? If so, how was it??
just wanted to throw this out there. we're running a pretty active community of lockn enthusiasts on a separate board. and questions you have are probably already answered or there is someone there who can. all are welcome. i would love to see some of you guys over there! lockn.proboards.com
