Oh well. I'm not buying a ticket unless the lineup wows me.
Agreed. While I've had fun the last two years, the $$$ for VIP just isn't justified without a hetty lineup. I'd rather pay $100 more for the right lineup than save $100 and see crap. On the plus side, at least VIP didn't go up another $100 this year.
Wow. Didn't pay attention to the on sale time. Thought it was 10 a.m. and ordered one GA at about 9:45 a.m. and was pleasantly surprised they were still available. $217.50 is $40 cheaper than I paid last year. Hope to stay at a friend's beach house, but if not, we will go for that inexpensive condo 1/2 mile from the east gate. Now to score that week for vacation.

Did you tape anything from last year?
Also, with all this extra early bird, another stage, more bands, them just being really nice, talk, I'm thinking they may be selling more than 35,000 this year.

My first earlybirds. Feels good. Not going to sweat the lineup for because the fest is a proven good time at this point. Pumped for a new stage. It seems like they could take out some of the carnival crap between the street stages and the beach and have room for another stage.

I'm pretty sure 35,000 is a limit set by the city, not the organizers. It's possible that they could up it, but I seriously doubt it with all of the crap that I heard the locals were giving them about the noise and traffic.

Even with that, there's already sound bleed on the beach stages and the Letting Go/BMI stages.... they must have found someway to expand the site or did some rearranging to use the site more effectively.

Maybe they're bringing back the Boob Boom stage. It was in the parking lot at the end of the boardwalk a few years ago.

Boom Boom Room was renamed the Xbox Tent in 2012. untz stage. Boom Boom Room = Xbox Tent Surf Style Stage = Chevy Stage Grooveshark Stage = Letting Go Stage Shaka Island = BP Hangout Stage = Hangout Stage
Maybe they're just referring to the 6th stage as the already existing VIP grove stage

I totally forgot about the presale until I read your post. Just bought my ticket.
Even if the lineup is somewhat lame it's still too close to me to pass up going. Plus I love buying presale tickets for some reason.
Obviously the rate of ticket sales is slow if they extended it till Monday morning. It's an expensive commitment to throw money at without a lineup. Many people had trouble selling their tickets for face value of advanced tix price after the subpar lineup was released last year. Their fb page and craigslist was flooded with 'em. Then the thursday pre-party lineup finally came out, semi-hetty fools lost their minds because they got the Umph, and decided to do the fest anyway because they could scoop up tix at early bird price (or lower) from desperate people that had been trying to get rid of their tix for 2 months.

Hangout tweeted yesterday that they're bringing the Boom Boom tent back this year. The Xbox game tent and Dos Equis kiosk barely took up half of the parking lot and seemed like a waste of space to me. If they decide to keep them there's probably room on Beach Blvd between the Letting Go Stage and the west gate. Couldn't fit a stage there, but vendor tents would work.

But then you have the sound bleed over to BP/shaka island so they'd definitely have to alternate the schedule between those two assuming Boom Boom faces the south. I wonder if it will be a second and smaller untz stage.

If in the tweet they called it the 'boom boom tent', then I think we have to assume it will be another dj/hippity hoppity stage.

It was a pretty small venue to begin with and it did face south. I don't remember there being an issue with bleed over, even with the schedules overlapping between Boom Boom and Shaka. On the other hand, it was enclosed on three sides which help hold in the noise. Unfortunately, that also made it one of the hottest venues that year, even though their was shade from the roof. Absolutely no breeze could get in whatsoever.

Not necessarily. It wasn't all "hippity hoppity" in 2011. Drive by Truckers played Boom Boom on Sunday. That stage was pretty ecclectic. Here's a link to the lineup that year:
