They don't play anywhere south of Atlanta on it either and are in the southeast a half month before. I bet ole Zizzy lan gives em a private beach cabana for a week beforehand. Coacheller and Jazz Fest too, huh?
There's never been a headliner play Jazzfest and Hangout has there? Wonder what the biggest band to play both in the same year is.

Forgot about Jazzfest. That's for sure. Still don't see them playing a one-off for Hangout in the middle of their month off, but dream on you crazy cats.

Matt Cameron is not touring with Soundgarden for their 2014 tour dates. So, if Soundgarden plays, no Matt, unless they book both PJ and Soundgarden maybe on the same weekend..... hmmmm....
U2 - Pearl Jam (W/ Temple of the Dog mini-set) - Soundgarden - Blur Zac Brown Band - SCI (2 Sets) - Vampire Weekend
On an unrelated note, this should call for a full Temple of the Dog tour, but I digress.
New to this forum, but I pretty much check this thing daily to see any updates for this festival. It's been the best weekend of the last 2 years.
Probably asking for too much but my semi-realistic hope for headliners...
Friday- Muse Saturday- Eminem Sunday- Pearl Jam
This is from just going off the recent trend of artists with new albums/rumors. I'm not even a huge fan of Muse but it looks like they put on a crazy show so I'd be down for seeing them. I hated the headliners last year but probably had more fun than 2012 because of how good the undercard was. Hopefully with the raised prices, added stages, and overall criticism of the headliners last year, they'll step it up a bit.

I mean, this is really nit-picking in a mock lineup that has U2 headlining, but you need to get Blur out of there. It's not happening.
Blur is an inside joke from the Hangout 2012 thread.

Wait, bring me up to speed here - why are Blur so unlikely? They are doing Big Day Out here in January, so it doesn't seem completely out of the realm of possibility that they might add some US dates.
But yes, getting both U2 & Pearl Jam would require some serious suspension of disbelief even for Bonnaroo or Coachella; getting either for quacking Hangout just isn't happening.
Here are the top four lines of each Hangout so far. The 2011 lineup is light years above all the other lineups combined in my opinion. But Dave Matthews is a pretty expensive headliner these days, and Paul Simon was a huge get, so I don't think that it's out of the question to think that Hangout can pull another great lineup out. Take the new production company and the money that seems to have always been there, new stages, more bands & more sunscreen and there is reason to be optimistic.

Hangout puts together decent enough lineups, but the lineups are more or less composed of acts that are in the middle of touring heavily. It's generally a mish-mash of the acts that appear all over the country and at every other festival that year.
DAFT PUNK ONE-OFF SHOW ON SOME BEACH IN ALABAMER! LOCK.

As opposed to what? I'm not aware of the festival that is full of non-touring bands.
The HO can book anyone that would play any other festival. Someone said Pearl Jam would be a pipe dream?...why?...silly. U2 is the band unlikely to play any festival. They're simply too big. Their last tour they wkere playing to 80k-100k people a night in the U.S....the only chance would be a 'green' tour
I feel like we had more solid rumors around this time last year. Could just be me. It's still 6 months away but I need to be back on that damn beach. When the weather turns to shit here in Chicago, it just makes me want this fest more.

...as opposed to fests like Coachella and Bonnaroo and ACL which, while booking a handful of shared "festival whore" bands (bands which are at every f*cking festival, examples from the past year include Of Monsters & Men, Grizzly Bear, the XX, Local Natives, etc.) also book a handful of acts more or less unique to that fest, acts which may not be easy to catch at your local amphitheatre or at any other festival you may choose to attend. It's more of a regional event than a national one, which is fine - it's closer in spirit to Governor's Ball or something like that. I don't think Pearl Jam is out of the question for Hangout, by the way - I actually think they'd fit perfectly as Hangout's "big" headliner.
Got you. Paul Simon plays one fest, the Hangout, and that is not a 'get'.. But the two largest mainstream festivals are rich with bands you can only see there so they are cool places to be.be.

I think your picks are very realistic.
I also think Arcade Fire will play second Saturday Jazzfest.

I highly doubt Eminem will be there. Doesn't really fit the past demo.

Paul Simon played 80 shows in the U.S. that year. You could see him everywhere. And I'm not judging the "coolness" of the fests - though I'm sorry you're insecure about your chosen venue for musical enjoyment. I'm merely making the very factual statement that Hangout, like many other fests, is a mid-tier/mid-size festival which doesn't necessarily have the same draw as it's bigger brothers.
Man, I am jealous! I'm stuck going to all these second rate festivals that just cater to lousy touring bands. But, you go to the top-tier fests where the best bands play their one live show of the year!

11 of 12 headliners( Dave Matthews- has lived in America for years) and top lines dominated by American born acts, there is no reason to think the top acts this year wouldn't be American born as well. The Eagles- euro tour starts may 22nd- feel like they will be in euro a week early to do press but possible. Pearl Jam- new album, arguably the "best" get with a current album. Jack Johnson- like it or not he carries wait, albums sell and he did a good enough job at 'Roo Bruce Springsteen- why not?! The Killers- greatest hits, would work on the beach. Zac Brown Band- not pulling for this one, seen them too much in Nashville. Sound garden- not sure if they carry enough weight. Enough for me though. No hippity hop or timberlake! HMF doesn't have that demo. But I wouldn't be opposed to eminem. Prince- not happening but I would pee myself! Metallica- yes please, pipe dream!
Anyway, I say look inside of America unless we see some evidence that says otherwise.
Guess as of now- top few lines- Pearl Jam- Bruuuce!- Zac Brown Jack Johnson- Avetts- MMJ - Chevy closers Vampire Weekend- QotSA- Jeff Tweedy/older band/ person type- main stage sub headliners. Mix in a diverse undercard of indie, hip hop, jam, and pop acts like capital cities, fitz and the tantrums. And you have a fest that will sell very well. Just my humble opinion.
May Tycho May Phoenix June Rooo July MMJ and Margo Price August Queen with Adam Lambert August Roger Waters (Bucket list #1) August Spoon and Portugal the man Sept Depeche Mode Sept Pilgrimage Fest

I think Hangout is capable of booking anyone they want to. It's hard to overlook the evidence that last year, they had Macca. He was coming, and then Roo paid just enough to keep him exclusive for them and Outside Lands. While I think Hangout is not entirely on the level of those fests in terms of name recognition and size, it is quickly becoming a prestigious festival to play. We have no clue who is going to play outside of Amos Lee and most likely the Flaming Lips; everything right now is speculation.
So I know people talked about it previously, but what effects are we looking at for the switch in who is actually planning out the fest? In terms of type of artists we could be looking at? More mainstream? Certain genre's being eliminated? Or does that mean absolutely nothing and it's gonna be more of the same as last year?
