I just got word from my boss that I was approved fof 36 hours of paid time off from 6/11-6/17 which will cover the ticket and then some. Is anyone else getting paid to go to Roo?
the only way we can take time off at my job is to use PTO (paid time off), which is accrued at a certain rate per pay period. believe me, there are so many times that I would prefer to have more time and just not get paid!! I never have enough PTO for all the things I want to do

Yep, I'm getting paid, so to speak and I'll also deduct lot's of my travel expenses because I'll visit a customer or two on the way up and on the way back.
The concept of paid vacation is still crazy to me. This will be my first Roo that I'll be using vacation days for, and I couldn't be more excited!
Also, my schedule rotation fell in the most perfect possible spot during Roo weekend, so I managed to get two weeks off while only using six vacation days. Very pumped about some fully-paid post-Roo comedown time. Gonna find me a spot next to a lake and CHILL!
I have been at my job for a long time 12 yr +. I have accrued more vacation than I can reasonably take a year and still accomplish my job. The bad thing is I do not get paid for the unused time so each year there is a week or more of unused paid vacation that goes poof and disappears. 1st world problems. Not complaining really but it always makes me sad.
I can relate. I have been here for 14 years and 4 months and have accrued 5 weeks a year. I NEVER take 5 weeks in a year and the leftover vaca rolls over to the next year to be used within the first month. I NEVER use the rollover and always end up with extra left at the end of the year.
I am sitting on 5 weeks right now and roo will be the first vacation time I have taken off all year.
Kind of a double edged sword, but no complaints! It's there if I need it, even if I can't take it when I want to.
My office gets every other Friday off (paid) between April and October, and Roo Friday is one if those days. I'm using banked time for the other 4 days,, so I will still come back to a full pay, without using any of my vacation time.
Roo is definitely worth using vacation time, but I'm pretty glad I don't have to use any.

I work for myself so I'll be paid while on The Farm. My company will also be paying for my gas as well as a few other expenses that I can easily fit in under the radar.

Itll be my first paid vacation from work ever. So with them paying me to attend Bonnaroo, plus the check I get for working Bonnaroo, it looks like in all reality im looking to profit quite a bit for going to do a bunch of no nos in a field and send a few thousand cars through a tollbooth.

I get paid for 40 hours a week, and generally work close to 50, and in certain months (august, december, january, april) I generally work closer to 60 hours a week- damn students. The only compensation I get for working overtime, is the ability to claim overtime compensation hours. That said, i'm going into Roo with about 7 weeks of paid time off (vacation and sick times included). I will only be taking 7 days (the week of Roo, and 2 days after). So yea, my paycheck won't suffer from Roo, but it's not like I'm getting paid to listen to music.

I remember my first Roo was my first time taking PTO. That, along with having seemingly infinite cash to take out of the ATM, blew my mind. I need to remember that feeling more often...too often I find myself taking my job and its benefits for granted. My current job allows me 27 days of PTO per year not including holidays, and they roll over up to 240 hours. Just 4 years ago I was making sandwiches at Quizno's for less than $7 an hour part time.
Anyways, I remember asking myself a lot "where do all these people work?". It's hard to imagine that the majority of Roo'ers have careers with a salary...I love it though, such an eclectic crowd
You guys are cute with your "careers" and "steady jobs."
yes, the whole 40-hr work week thing is super adorable
I currently work roughly 70 hours a week between two jobs, but neither of them give paid vacation. Yay restaurants. That said not all are bad; my first 'Roo in '07 I was workin' so much at a corporate restaurant that after my paid vacay to 'Roo then a week at the Outer Banks in NC my vacay time doubled while I was on vacation. Damn I miss that shit.

I think most people who have never been would be surprised by the makeup of festival goers. there are so many people who think that everyone at roo is a "dirty hippie on druqs". everyone at work calls me a hippie for going. well, and for my "crazy" liberal views. I just laugh, I gave up trying to explain awhile ago
