I would be interested to see what type of filters the mods came up with for each individual drug. Se of the past filters for sexual organs have been rather creative such as fish taco and fleshy banana.

I love the more humorous nature of the current word filters, but given the nature of the way the new word filter works, the * substitution may make things much easier on the mods in the case of parts of words being filtered. For example, "*ss*ssinated" while goofy looking is much easier to decipher than "buttbuttinated". Likewise, "Emily D*ckinson" is much easier to figure out than "Emily Weenieinson". Changing it to make it easier to read would make adding all the vast myriad of combinations a much lower priority for mods.
That's from 2009. Also, that thread points out that at the time of it's posting there was one person in charge of Inforoo so things sorta went the way he wanted. I never had work block a site because of the words on it but apparently it was an issue for some at some point. Either way, the word filter is not going anywhere. We can discuss revisions though

I, for one, am completely against censorship. If people are talking about dr*gs, it doesn't mean they are using or distributing them. I could very well be speaking of the horrible pills the doctor gave me to help me sleep but end up giving me the shizs every morning. CONTEXT CONTEXT CONTEXT! It really seems more 8th grade, to me, to be censoring my explanation of a given situation. Now, if people are obviously speaking of using or distributing dr*gs, yes, lets kick them out. Why bothering censoring them if they can just turn around and do it again. Lets just skip step one, and kick them out.
Now, as for gratuitous swearing for the sake of using colorful language... If I am quoting someone, I will not censor what they say. I will convey an exact message. It does no justice to the author/speaker for their words to be mangled. Also- sometimes I need to make a point, and some may call it juvenile, but swearing definitely conveys a tone much better (and in a less 8th grade fashion) than any emoticon.
As is censoring: Correct names for genitalia NO NO WORD!!! (especially when most of these words aren't censored- weed, pot, marijuana, cocain, coke, LSD, lucy, acid, heroin, Special K, peyote, mushrooms, fungus, MDMA, molly, 2C series, bath salts {I ain't no zombie}, K-2, meth)
Those are just the ones I've run up against. Just saying.

I could care less about the filter. If anything, I applaud it because it lets me get onto the site at work. Theres really no need to talk about no nos on a board thats mods dont want to be associated with such a talk. Just use "corn" and we'll get it ya doobieheads. Yea i agree a few of the filters are a lil juvenile but ill sacrifice not being able to type the word p*nis for the hours this forum saves me on bordum a day.
Can we please have a word filter for "F*ck Kanye," preferably something that tags Flanz and I and alerts us to the thread.
Hold the f*cking phone. I was getting in arguments about Kanye West when you were still talking about the best new recipe for brown sugar rhubarb pie over in the "Pastries and Sweet Treats" subforum over on the Food & Wine boards. I'm appalled and offended that I wasn't included there.

I mean, I'm not saying I use these terms all the time. Shoot- I haven't touched any dr*gs in years (thanks work!). And I don't think I have ever needed to speak of any sort of genitalia on this board... All I'm saying is changing a word around doesn't change what is being said. I mean, does saying "I'm gonna pack a fat bowl of corn" really throw anyone off? If a post is made that is clearly against rules, I don't understand why we don't just delete said post and ban the member.
With that- I know the mods have their hands full with this, but I just find some of these rules silly. Then again, I'm not a mod, I don't know exactly what you guys are having to put up with. I'm just making my own observation and sharing the thoughts stemming from it. Please don't get your feelings hurt over this, because I really do appreciate the work done to keep the forum active and alive.
Also, I didn't intend to just have a free-for-all to post the names for all MY favorite drogas... that list would be really short- Claritin. I was simply making a point. And now I'm done. Thank you for your consideration.

It's a fantastic idea, but we can't leave Juggs, the patriarch of the Kanye defense team, out of there.
We better hurry up & change it to something else cause if we don't people will probably say it all the time in a derogatory way because we're all 14 & that's the only way to solve the (completely nonexistent) problem.
