in all the good charlotte talk, i forgot that i actually came here to post about how it was a bad idea to feed asparagus to several teenagers who wear diapers overnight. the smell was atrocious this morning.
Interesting trivia: asparagus scent in urine apparently attracts fish, so in the survival kits of Pacific sailors in WW2 was makeshift fishing rod, and their mre's had asparagus to help in the fish catching process.
I don't know how people who are so smart can be so fucking dumb sometimes.
I tell my students over and over and over again they cannot work more than 9 hours per day, and have to take a meal break if they're working over 5 hours...
So why the fuck does this kid turn in a time report with 13 hours logged, with no breaks?!
I can completely relate. Aside from admin staff, every job in my office requires a college degree. These people repeatedly forget basic things like taking the car that was assigned to you on a board right above the cabinet with the keys, the fact that you have to reserve a car and not just take one, you need to close bay doors that open directly onto rooms with thousands of dollars of equipment, you can't just leave toast going in a toaster and walk off, you don't hit reply all to every office wide email sent, you need to report that a toilet is overflowing and not just walk off and let it flood the bathroom and many, many other things that baffle me on a daily basis.
I work in a giant research facility; everyone there has a PhD or is working on one. Microwave popcorn has been banned throughout the entire facility because the fire alarm has been set off so many times (and don't get me started on the perpetually empty goddamn coffee pot). Also, there are lots of Asians who work there, and they love their smelly fish lunches s.
The last facility wide meeting features giving "Christmas in August" presents (though in September) and a trivia game with Christmas related questions.
Today I had some kid in my department ask if I wanted to join in the secret Santa this year.
Today is my first day back after two weeks off. I miss my couch.
No doubt! I was only off yesterday and miss mine. Good luck on the first week back, hope the couch-missing isn't too bad.
Thanks! Another half hour and I will have survived the day. I did better this morning than this afternoon, but I'm getting through it. Thank goodness this is a short week!

I overheard someone from another department say, in reference to an upcoming meeting with a problem client, "So we're going to put on our weiners and act professional?" That is the best thing I have heard in my office in quite a while.
I started my new job on Monday. I've hated it since I got it for a few reasons. One of which is that it's far from me for what it is. I work again this afternoon (as in Wednesday). I interviewed for something else that's located less than 5 mins from me and got it on the spot yesterday afternoon. I feel kinda bad, but I'm going to go in after school and turn in my two shirts and name tag to the first place. So I'm quitting without notice, 3 hours before my shift starts and after just one day on the job.... Oops. Hopefully they'll understand.

Everything is extra creepy today for some reason. My walk into work was weird. Saw way more people than I usually do at 2:45 in the morning. Now there's a bunch of weird noises in the shop happening. shit is falling down out of nowhere.

Yup. And in the future the time gap is so small just dont bother putting it on your resume.
I always figure it like this, your employer doesnt owe you beyond what they pay you for and the employee doesnt owe any loyalty beyond their last paid work day. An action could be rude, but they arent your friends.

What's your new job? I hope it's a better fit!
It's still just retail. But it's a better fit for me for sure, I'm working with people my own age, an environment I'm more comfortable in and doing things I'm more comfortable doing.. And I can get to work in like 5 mins now, which is a super added bonus.
It's annoying when someone new to a work space comes in and changes shit around. Also it sucks when they throw away something that belongs to you. Some asshole threw away my college football magazine.
