Sorry kiddo - we've got 4 of us trekking down in a Mitsubishi Mirage and a Honda Civic hatchback... it's already gonna be tight trying to squeeze all our stuff in.

anyone from the Roanoke area? i think i'm leaving early Thursday morning. mapquest says it is about 7 hours. that puts us there on Thursday afternoon. as a first-time Roo-er, i don't know how the trip will be but i dont anticiapte any problems.
Hey guys coming from Charlottesville, VA will be leaving at 2-3 am Thursday morning.
2004 got there at 2 am Thursday morning from Bushy Branch Rd. Ended up in BFE camp gleek all the way in the furthest right hand corner. Didn't get in and set up untill sunrise.
2005 left many hours later and got there at 7:30 am. Came in from the 24 entrance and watched in agony for an hour and a half as we rolled across the bridge into BFE only to arrive in camp Dr No the exact same fricking camp as 2004.
2006 we should be getting there at about noon and I will not end up in BFE again. I will not cross that bridge. If I see it coming I will fake a seizure or whatever and pull the car over.
BFE or not the roo is a great time and I cannot wait.
Coming from Harrisburg, PA. I'm hoping I can make it to the site early early morn Friday. I hope to leave after lunch sometime Thursday. It sucks arriving so late, but I have to work.
This is my first 'Roo. What will traffic to be like say 1-2am on Friday morn? If things get hairy and I am forced to leave later, what can I expect for a 8-10am arrival in Manchester.
(I had this in its own thread, but I dont think anyone saw it there...and I was hoping maybe someone could help me out with a ride if I can somehow meet you somewhere on the way, or if anyones passing through central VA) I had 200 dollars saved for bus tickets to and from the roo via greyhound, but last night my ex-girlfriend and best friend accidentally ODed on vicodin(shes prescribed it for her back). So now she has a 4000 dollar hospital bill. Meaning I gave her my Roo money. So now, I have no way to get to there. If anyone is passing anywhere remotely near Richmond, Virginia please send me an email, IM, PM, or reply here. Orrrr if anyone can figure out how I can get 110 dollars within the next 3 days(after that the bus ticket price goes up to 175 dollars), feel free to hit me up with ideas as well.
Thank you very much,(And hopefully I'll see you there)
I will be leaving Wednesday night somewhere between 6-8. I live in Harford County and need to pick up someone from PerryHall.
I'll be driving a VW Touareg. (an SUV with Xenons). Wouldn't mind meeting a few people to caravan down with but if too late might be able to move the time up depending on when we pack and get off work that day.

Last year, 12 hours almost on the dot from leaving til getting to our campsite from Columbia MD. We were lucky not to run into any rush-hour traffic at all near home, and no traffic at all until this random bit about an hour before Manchester. 80-90mph the whole way, stopping every three or four hours maybe.
I'm just south of Annapolis. Gonna drive to a relative's house near Roanoke, VA, on Wednesday and then take off super-early Thursday. Maybe. Does that sound reasonable to get in at a good time to get good camping?
Whoever it was who's leaving Roanoke early a.m.--how long will the Roanoke-Manchester trip take? Wanna convoy?
Thanks for the travel advice, y'all--I'd never have known about that weird little alternate route.

As all the threads about arrival times seem to come to a consensus on, it's kind of a crapshoot as to how good your spot will be, no matter when you get there. Some people who get there super early (as in, before the grounds officially open) sometimes get stuck way out in BFE, while others get really close. Last year I arrived at about midnight Thursday and my spot wasn't that bad, maybe 10 minutes' walk to Centeroo.
When they come to take you down When they bring that wagon round When they come to call on you and drag your poor body down Just one thing I ask of you, just one thing for me Please forget you know my name, my darling sugaree Shake it, shake it sugaree, just dont tell them that you know me
