My sis and I will be leaving NOVA early on Wed AM and have reservations at the Holiday Inn Express in Manchester (still had rooms as of a week or 2 ago.) We thought it might be cool if some other people had a similar plan and wanted to caravan. Plus 2 cars equals more camping space. Reply here or you can send me a message, I'll check both.

how long does it take from richmond going down 85?
i went 64>81 last year leaving from norfolk.
this year i will be leaving from richmond.
In 2004 I went 58 to I-85 toI-40 In 05 and 06 I went 64-81-40 About 12 hours either way with stops and traffic. But I heard there is gonna be road work on 81 so I am going to avoid that and go Rt58 to 85 this year.
i think i might try the 85 route this time. having to go thru richmond both ways this year, i can avoid 58 all together even on the way home to norfolk.
I cant really give an accurate time on travel b/c we stopped a lot and got side tracked.Plus i was following last year. but i believe anywhere from 12 to 14 hours . thanks for heads up on traffic and that AAA post.
my ticket is being mailed to my ex's house we were supposed to go together but i'm going with my best friend instead ;D i thought she was gonna bail but she came through!!! yay bonnaroo!!!!

Not sure yet prob going to hotel it or sleep in the car?
I'm not sure if this is the proper place for this question but, is there a place to sleep in a car legally? I haven't been able to think of any location where it would be and I'd like to avoid being harassed by the police (not the band).

I'm not aware of it being illegal to sleep in your car, unless of course you're on the road or on the shoulder or something. Pull over to a rest stop, or a McDonald's parking lot, nap for a while, and it'll be fine I'm sure. My dad lived out of his car for a few years, and any time a cop ever came up to him was to check and make sure he wasn't dead or suffocating inside the car or something bad like that.
If all else fails, go to a bar, have one drink, then get back in the car, throw your keys in the backseat, and sleep. They can't say you were doing anything wrong by not driving with alcohol in your blood, and there's not really any way for them to prove that you weren't drunk/over the limit when you got in the car.
Hola all- leaving from Roanoke by 2pm Wednesday, have an RV but also reservations at the Holiday Inn that Wednesday night (free ice, one last perfect sleep and we're VIP so we can wake up and exchange tickets).
