Choose your own criteria for what great vocals constitute. McCartney's "greatness," for instance, means many things. But if, gun to your head, you had to choose the five "best" singers on the farm this year, who would they be? Do you have the sand to respond to this challenge!?
(1) Damon Albarn (2) Nick Cave & the Bad Seeds (3) King Khan & His Shrines (4) Ty Segall (5) Ms Lauryn Hill (6) Darkside (7) Kanye (8) Janelle Monae (9) Goat (10) Meshuggah.
Aoife O'Donovan. She's one of the few artists I didn't know on the lineup; NPR did an interview w/her today. She's written for Alison Krauss and has a similar soft, lilting voice. Her normal gig is w/her hubby's band, Crooked Still.
also: Nanna Bryndís Hilmarsdóttir (OM&M) Glen Hansard Lord Huron Jim James
R Kelly is the right answer. Björk Lee Fields Father John Misty deserves an honourable mention And buddy from Alt J because he's just so unique Lady from St Vincent should be on a few lists, and David Byrne also for that matter, but that's 7. In out.

My top four favorite vocalists on this years lineup, in alphabetical order, would be Warren Haynes, Jim James, R. Kelly, Paul McCartney.
For the fifth spot I couldn't decide between Bernhoft, Nicki Bluhm, and the guys from Grizzly Bear. Local Natives and a bunch others are really good. Tough choices
You're all doing this wrong. These are not my five favorite vocalists, but they are the five best.
Solange
Obvious troll is obvious.
I haven't heard much of Stone, but what I have is kind of soft vocally. He has a flawless delivery no doubt. I just haven't heard anything that blew me away. Care to share something that might change my mind?
