Well, I once danced into the Wilco pit with a brew in one hand and Spicy Pie in the other, turning circles during "Jesus etc.". I'm not hoping for pit access at Paul, but Crif may very well be in the back of the What field.

You guys gonna masturbate for the entire set, or just "Hey Jude"?
(Psst. Those guys are kidding, right? Paul McCartney is playing, and they're going to head to camp to drink away those damned old contrarian blues? I don't believe them. Even if they think that Paul is overrated, they wouldn't stick around just out of curiosity or historical interest or on the off-chance their opinions might be modified? Instead, they're choosing something they could have any other night of their lives: a six-pack, a camp-chair, and solitude. I think we know who's most likely to be masturbating at that time.)
Beatles agnostics aren't "haters"; they're just tone-deaf contrarians. The "greatness" to which I'm referring has much to do with the Beatles' influence overall, and Paul's influence on pop singing, specifically. Beatles agnostics are experts in denial, but to deny that particular point is just obstinate pretense.
Well that settles it. If any one needs me Friday night I'll be drinking at camp with .
Avey has a great voice, but I'd give the nod to Panda Bear. Person Pitch has some amazing vocals. As does Daily Routine, Screens, Chores, and so many more.
He is an excellent singer, and really shines in certain areas (timing, tone, subtlety), but I think that the singers fiddler named are more technical. It very well may have to do with how rarely he over-sings, but I just think there are more technically advanced singers on the farm this year. Saying paul is more of a songwriter doesn't really say much if you think about it, seeing as he's more of a songwriter than just about anything.
if he never oversings wouldn't that make him technically better?
I really don't think the other singers over-sing as well. They probably try harder to use their advanced techniques, but they're incredible at them, so I don't really care.
Personal favorites (in no order and not limited to five): Paul McCartney Jeff Tweedy (Wilco) Bjork Chan Marshall (Cat Power) Victoria Legrand (Beach House) Amber Coffman (Dirty Projectors) Adam Stephens (Two Gallants) R. Kelly Lee Fields Michael Gira (Swans) Annie Clark (St. Vincent) Matt Berninger (The National) Glen Hansard Mariam Doumbia (Amadou & Mariam) Ed Droste and Daniel Rossen (Grizzly Bear) Jim James the Haim sisters Josh Tillman (Father John Misty)
