Whether it's your first Bonnaroo or you’re a music festival veteran, we welcome you to Inforoo.
Here you'll find info about artists, rumors, camping tips, and the infamous Roo Clues. Have a look around then create an account and join in the fun. See you at Bonnaroo!!
A major improvement would be to not invite anybody like R. Kelly, Wu Tang, NAS, Boyz Noise. Those artists DESTROYED the Bonnaroo experience this year. Hordes of "bros" and dumb pieces of shit attended the festival this year. What normally feels like a fun, good energy community was ruined. Last year the bathrooms were "clean", people were respectful, the fence was spray painted artistically, and there was pretty much NO trash on the ground.
This year the fence was covered in ghetto looking graffiti, people were very rude, and the type of people those artists brought really ruined the whole vibe/experience.
Trying to sit there and listen to Billy Idol (who was stuck in the smallest stage) tons and tons of bros walked by on their way to R Kelly and just kept dropping trash where I was sitting. Seriously every couple people who walked by would just drop a cup, bottle, or something on the ground. The people that listen to these shit artists had NO respect for other people or the festival. They really trashed the place.
#1: still need to work on the gulch between Which and What. #2: I preferred having sand under the tents. #3: Not enough workers compared to the size of the crowd, especially at the main entrance gate after Thursday. I also think some more professional staff would help. #4: Need some additional gravel around the water stations. #5: Long term hope - pave the main access roads to cut down on dust.
Put laser pointers on the "Do Not Bring" list if you are going to confiscate (read: steal) them from us. Someone took mine and when I told him it wasn't on the list, all he could say was "well it should be." I've been searched by the police a the main gate and they played with the laser and gave it back to me. I'm glad it wasn't a $300 wickedlaser, but still. And what gives with not letting people have glow sticks? Other than that, it was about as fun as the last time I went. I think it's about time they open up a secondary vehicle entrance for the general admission though.

I'm pretty sure lasers are on the list. I hope Security finds every freaking one and "steals" them. Those laser pointers are incredibly annoying and just plain stupid.

Here is what is not allowed under any circumstances (and remember we search every vehicle):
Glass containers of any kind (this includes wine bottles, drinking glasses, pickle jars and test tubes) We repeat, glass containers of any kind Weapons of any kind, even slingshots Fireworks Illegal substances Bicycles or scooters or personal motorized vehicles (including not limited to: golf carts, ATVs, motor scooters, powered skateboards and airboats). Professional photography equipment or cameras with detachable lenses longer than two (2) inches (point-and-shoots without additional lenses are fine) Pets (even really, really small ones) Glowsticks Box trucks or trailers (camping trailers are okay, but are considered RVs) Charcoal or propane, unless you have a portable grill (If you do, you may bring up to 40 lbs. of charcoal and a small container of propane) Gasoline (unless you have a generator) NOTE: Vending of any kind is not allowed. Sharing yes, selling, no. And you know the difference.

They are useful for having your friends find you in a crowd, but I agree it's a little annoying for them to be swirling around all night during a show that already has a light setup. I told the security dude to let me keep it and he could have the battery (of which I did not have extras since they are expensive lithium batteries) and they didn't really care and were quite unfriendly.

Fill in the damn ditch between What and Which. The cost of that cannot be that restrictive. It blows my mind they haven't taken care of this, when it slows everyone down so much.
Other than that, I think they did a wonderful job of planting TONS of trees, and adding more shade and picnic tables all over. The food vendors also seemed to be different and better.
Tell the volunteers at the tollbooths where family camping is. I went thru the tollbooths THREE times! THREE! The traffic was expectantly bad, but I had to endure the lines THREE times! No one knew wth they were doing. I was asked if I bought a family package (no such thing), I was told there was no family camping (until I pointed it out on the map), I was told to do u turns, talk to Big Mike, sent to Tim... For hours. I was practically in tears and wanting to go home before I ever made it to the camping area.

You mean the parking Vols. Toll booths just scan you in, they don't direct traffic

No- the tollbooths. I was sent thru the east tollbooth (after they had me made me loop thru it twice, making me turn around near pod 2 snd head back to east tollbooth) then they sent me all the way down bushy branch to main st where I was told to turn around (another u turn), drive back down bushy branch (now filled with pedestrians and vendors), exiting the east tollbooth- then directed to drive to west tollbooth (get in that line) and re-enter.

Better plan the Miller stage schedule so that half the back of the crowd can't hear at Which Stage.
Lumineers was ruined for me.
As for R. Kelly etc., I LOVED the R. Kelly show. I thought he was an incredible showman. I went to the show for the novelty but ended up adoring it. Every festival that gains popularity is going to draw in some of the wrong crowd. It's just how it is.

Ok. I understand you were frustrated, but those folks telling you to turn around were Parking Vols. I should know, I was a Toll Booth vol and the only place you see us is under the canopies at the tolls

No, they weren't. I know exactly who I talked to, because I talked to seemingly every person at the east tollbooth. I told them prior to getting in the scan/search line, that i needed family camping. I talked to the "big shots" in the trailer, trust me- no one knew where to direct me. There were multiple conversations via walkie talkies before I was redirected to go thru the west tollbooth and my vehicle was searched three times.
I had an amazing time. Ill post my review later but as far as improvements the only thing I can think of is putting a half hour gap in before the headliner starts. It would allow for travel and to meet up with everyone when going to he headliners set.

Screens on all the tents. Something has to be done about the trash everywhere. Sound bleed was bad at times like r Kelly an the superjam. More ac places with actual doors that keep the cool in.
Really my biggest way gripe is the people with the pushing and trash
I missed Roo this year. I'm surprised to hear the ditch was back. I attended 2010, 2011, and 2012. The ditch was def a major issue my first two years but last year I didn't notice any water build up at all.
I sure hope next year when I return they've added screens to the tents, and I don't think they should be on or next to the stage. We all love the neon signs but that seems like a great place to hang a screen for each of the tents.

Screens at the Tent stages is all I really need. If they are opposed to screens, which they seem to be for some reason, then bacon had a great idea about raising up the land on the outskirts of the tents a bit, so people far away can still see over the main crowd. Think of the VIP Viewing mound but only a few inches and around the outside of the tents. Not sure how feasable this would be but they have to do something to make it worth seeing a band in those tents when the crowd underneath the roof is full.

I really don't mind the hip hop. R. Kelly was a) not very crowded at all and b) ended up at superjam like 10 minutes later. I don't think I would throw him into the same grouping as what some people are referring to. That being said, I didn't really enjoy Kendrick Lamar but I loved Wu-Tang. I think it's the 90s child in me.
As for things I would ask they improve, maybe just one more GA entrance to centerroo somewhere? I'm not familiar with the logistics of placing a new one somewhere but it would be a huge help. Also, and I think we all say this every year, video screens at tents and the other video screen at Which Stage

The actual volunteers weren't the problem. Contact Bonnaroo about your issue. With the exception of VIP, it shouldn't have mattered which toll you entered through. We had Access, RV, RV Companion, Groop, Family etc. come through. Sorry for your experience.

I'll second the screens at all tents. I just don't see why they're not there already. If several of the bands can afford to bring their own screens, why can't Roo break down and buy some?
Also, it would be great if they could take the number of people scheduling a show into account when deciding where to put different acts. Some groups at Which and What didn't have that many people while the smaller tent stages were overflowing at the same time. They've got the data at hand, why not put it to use?
And on that note, they should really open Which on Thursday night. It made sense to not have it open when they didn't (officially) open the camp grounds until Thursday, and there weren't many people there on Thursday night. However, since they now open the camp grounds on Wednesday, the place is packed on Thursday and with only 3 tents open and no larger stages, the place gets uncomfortably crowded for the shows later on Thursday night. Alt-J could have easily played on Which.
I don't have any big complaints, just mainly stuff stemming from the crowds, which seemed worse this year than normal. I think the farm can support that many people comfortably, they just need to manage the space they have to make things smoother and more enjoyable for everyone.
