Yay! I see I don't have to type a damn thing since you all have it covered +1 on the fresh fruit, screens on tents & shizz.
I have often wondered about the industrial chemicals too but I dunno - somehow I am just covered in chiggers, which I either got in the field outside What or between This and the Comedy Tent. They have definitely used something to control the poison ivy - which used to just be rampant on the farm, growing all the way up that tree near the ditch between What/Which. Some poor kid was napping in it circa 2005, I had to wake him up and tell him to go bathe in dish soap... it's basically all over the place in rural areas in TN.
1) Our camping space was tiny and we didnt have room for our EZ Ups or any room to just hangout. Luckily, our friends two spots down were able to adjust everything and make us a little circle for our chairs. Everyone should be able to setup their tents and EZ Up. I wanted an EZ Up over my tent but our three small tents were all touching each other because we didnt have room. In fact, we had to steal some of our neighbors space to do it. That's not cool. Had it just been our car, we wouldnt have had a campsite to hang out at.
2) Have craft brews at every beer vendor. Nearly all the generic beer vendors just had generic domestic swill. I dont drink that shiz and neither do a lot of other people. Last year, I was able to get Sierra Nevada and that other brewery at every tent. This year, outside of the Brooer's Tent, I only found two selling craft brews.
3) Put a temp cell phone tower in that place. I did have far better coverage this year but my phone still drained in a few hours. I wish I could just turn my phone off the whole fest but some of us have responsibilities and need to be able to be reached. I have small children at home and need to be able to be reached 24/7 in case of an emergency.
There were mini cell towers out there. Cellular works like a radio. When you have 80000 little transmitters everywhere, your transmitter has to talk louder, because you're basically all talking in a crowded room. Just like at a party with to many folks, you're screaming to just hear the person next to you.
More towers won't help your battery life, condensed humans with phones drains your battery.
Yes, it would. They bring in a big temp tower to Kansas City, Kansas during NASCAR weekend twice a year. It is the one place in the city that I dont get good reception on normal and my battery dies quickly. They bring in that one tower along with the 100k plus extra people hogging reception yeteveryone has perfect reception and my battery wont even go down hardly at all when a day out there usually drains it. The harder your phone has to work to get reception, the more juice it uses.
Turtles are, actually quite sexy, if you think about it. I’m getting an erection just thinking about turtles. No, not a stripper named turtles, that’s not funny. Actual turtles.

We spoke to them about this last October and they said that they do not spray any kind of insecticide on the grass.
I remember reading this here, but even though they say that, there's still some industrial chemical on the grounds there. I've camped all over the country and never once gotten severe contact dermatitis; only happens on the farm. I'm sure that they're not lying, per se, but I'm also sure there are industrial chemicals on the grass and/or in the dust...it could be from off-season usage, blowover from nearby farms, or legacy from the farm's past. Either way, I will probably take a soil test kit with me next year, because I like to know these things.
I have to call bullshit on nothing being used. First, there are like no bugs at all out there. This is rural country during the summer with humidity and heat. We have similar weather in Kansas City this time of year and even with treatment, you cant get rid of them. Second, bugs quacking love me. I can spend two hours outside in the evening and be covered. I have one bug bite from 4 days out there. Three, I laid in the grass in the campground and just smelled chemical. There is no way that is runoff or old stuff from previous usage.

My first Roo and I know we got spoiled as shit in VIP more so then I thought after reading a lot of this. My only gripe was tent screens. The acts I knew I wanted to be close for I got there a few acts ahead of time. But many acts I'd of enjoyed a helluva lot more with screens.

I'm also suspicious of the lack of bugs. I believe the 'grass' is turf (sod) rolls... maybe its that the turf is treated before it arrives? If that's the case, then the Roo folks could say *they* don't spray insecticides. I'm feeling charitable I guess.
Fix the god dammed swamp bottleneck between What/Which.
It's to the point where it is just embarrassing that they have still not fixed this.
Someone is going to get hurt, possibly badly. After Macca, people were getting shoved onto the ground as people came up on it and were surprised for some reason. I guess they didnt see it before? I had a flashlight and was just staring at the ground waiting for it to come and then let the crowd in front move and just did a small run and jump over it.

Ya and updating shiz thru phones and social media is soooooo bad for my vibe.. I turned my phone on one time on Sunday to call my Dad and right back off. Update us with information from the HUGE sound systems or massive What screens or anything else. Or just tell all the volunteers at the gates to spread the word when people go thru today that there will be a surprise set. I don't know. But I know phones are the debil.

I'm a cellular rf engineer, you're speaking from a slightly less knowledgeable position. I encounter this a lot. Customers complaining about things they don't understand.
Your phone battery died because the up link noise floor had risen. For your phone to compensate, it powers up, and talks louder. More cell sits don't fix that. There were almost 100 radios added, and the sites barely blocked any calls or data.
The down link is only going to hurt your battery power, down link is for the tower to you, when you are far from the site. You were never more the 200 yards from an antenna in centroo.
I deal with this all the time. Customers who think they understand rf and cellular, but don't. Kansas speedway isn't bonnaroo. A one day event, that is 4 hours in length does not compare to 4 days

Yeah, I wanted to see some of the big comedy acts this year but it was ridiculous to even bother waiting in that line. I don't see why they don't let bigger comedians like Tosh or David Cross perform on the What like Chris Rock did a few years back. Macca sound checked on Thursday night and Tom Petty sound checked Sunday morning. They could have let those comedians on stage to do their thing during those hour long breaks. Maybe it's a crowd issue thing why they don't? Keep people moving? Keep people from camping out all day long? I don't know.
OR what they could do is just run a live stream of the comedy tent on the What stage screens instead of showing Instagram pics and quotes from famous authors. If a sound check needs to happen then they can cut in. I don't think people would mind it. But those two ideas would begin to greatly alleviate comedy tent problems in my opinion.

Also, after spending my first time in BFE, I think a free shuttle going from to the arches to pod 11 would be a good idea. Maybe every half hour or something, depending on the size of the shuttle?
I know the walk sucked for me, but I saw some bigger people who were having a horrible time with that walk, plus the added heat makes it unbearable. They shouldn't be forced to pay for a cab.

Absolutely, my number one complaint as well. My phone is light years away from smart, and I had one charge to last me the entire weekend. I managed to make it last until midway through Petty, but that's only because I wasn't doing anything but meeting up with people. There should be at least some area of Centeroo where you can find out about all set changes, cancellations, and the like. My brother didn't find out DIIV wasn't playing until, well, they weren't playing. I'm sure there were people waiting for Mumford who suddenly saw Jack Johnson and had no idea what was going on.

Let me bring in beer! I have no problem with drugs and such, and would probably do them myself if i didn't need to be tested regularly. It's just annoying to see the guy next to me get through bag check with mollie and an ounce, but a 6 pack of Diesel is out of the question. I understand this will probably never change because they make tons of money off of selling $10 beers inside, but it's still a complaint i have.

Most of my thoughts are the obvious ones, so you guys have covered them well by now: fix the ditch, the sound at Which, use Which on Thursday, etc. Amending the camping situation with regards to carpoolers is another must.
But let's talk about something really important - WHERE THE HELL WERE THE SAMOSAS? Seriously, does anyone know why Samosaman was absent from the farm? We need to figure this out! Because I mean, if it was an issue of the vendor fees being too high, I am pretty sure Inforoo would have helped out a bit with that.
Oh yeah, one more idea...how bout having a food collection area at the pods on Sunday and Monday? Yet again I packed too much food and I would've loved to give it away to someone who wanted it (my neighbors didn't but I'm sure someone would've). I know they collect and donate abandoned tents and gear, so maybe they could do the same with dry goods, water, etc.
I would really like to highlight how great an idea this is, and I hope it is repeated the next year

I'd like to see a little bit of lighting around the water stations so I can actually see what I'm doing at night. Little LED lights would be easy to add in and give direct light so the rest of the area stays dark. I also went to a concert where the porta potties had grated floors. Really helped with the cleanliness on the floor and I bet it gives slightly better ventilation.
elrooster, that wasn't always mud. I love me some good clean mud. Nothing wrong with it. Often it was raw sewage overflowing from the portos. The little streams flowing from under the toilets by the ditch between stages do not leak water. But you go ahead and have fun stomping around in the "mud" or whatever you want to call it.
I had samosas they were being sold near the platters BBQ closer to the which stage
That was not Samosaman, though - there was an Indian food vendor selling samosas among other things, but Samosaman samosas are not traditional Indian samosas, which is what makes them so spectacular. I can get "normal" samosas anywhere, but I can't get Samosaman samosas anywhere other than Bonnaroo. (And that salsa!)
(Guys, I just said the word samosas so many times.)
runs off six D batteries and fits into my small over the shoulder bag. I bought mine for $25 (Target) and bought 8 D batteries for another $11. for $36 my phone was charged all weekend and I barely put the fresh batteries in sunday morning. I brought mine into centeroo with me twice and could charge all day. most of the time I charged while at camp and left it there during the day.

Ok with that I am done with this conversation.
I see your point and respect your opinion man.
I respect your opinion too reading that last sentence it seems like I was kinda rude. sorry about that.
1. Clean the portos. It's not fun to need to go at 4am and they are literally overflowing. That just makes people go outside in places they shouldn't. Roo usually has the cleanest ones out of any festival I go to and they were so bad this year.
2. either make the tents larger or add some screens. All 5ft of me can never see what's going on in there.

I too was annoyed by the lack of Samosaman samosas. Like the arepa shortage a few years ago, I hope it's short-lived.
The only good part about the beer/corn dog stand in the middle of the Which Stage field is that it created great billowy smoke for when The xx was doing their laser light show thingy. Other than that it needs to go.
I agree with everyone on "The Ditch" and screens on the tents. I'm still not a fan of the "?" instead of "WHICH" on Which Stage, but it doesn't really matter. I know that the Jack Johnson replacement was announced via Radio Bonnaroo and the Bonnaroo Beacon, but were any other acts announced similarly?

The info blackout really does kind of suck. I can't ever find the Beacon and no way is Twitter or FB ever in a million years going to load on my AT&T phone at Bonnaroo.

I'm puzzled at how the Guide encourages us to leave the outside world outside, and yet we're also encouraged to link our wristbands up to social media, check Twitter updates, etc. Personally I only used my phone to meet up with friends at shows and call my dad on Father's Day.

USE THE RFID TECHNOLOGY! -Allow us to pick 1 comedy show per day, and our RFID wristband can be registered to allow us entry. -Similarly let us go to the What stage pit lines and reserve entry via RFID starting at 8am. That way we don't have to miss a day of Bonnaroo just to be able to see one act!
You have the technology. This stuff should be easy. And using the scanners it would allow for the capacity control to be down to a science, and for stand-by lines to be used efficiently.

My biggest complaint is one that I'm sure will never be answered, and I kinda understand why, but it still frustrates me: please tell us what insecticide you spray the farm with. So many of us are allergic, and I feel like knowing what I'm dealing with would make it somehow more manageable. Maybe I could get a prophylactic shot or something. That said, the solution for me is probably to go RV next year and just not spend so much time on the ground.
I'm trying to figure out how to better handle allergies next year - can you describe the symptoms you think could be related to insecticide? I had not considered that as an option.
