There may be lots of people unhappy with Kanye West's return. I've already asked you this, but do you use this kind of logic in all of life's situations? "Well, lots of people feel this way, so it must be addressed!" There does exist the possibility that loads of people are being illogical and barrelheaded at the same time, you do understand that, correct?
Where did I say "so it must be addressed"?
It was a suggestion, that's all. I even predicated it with "This is highly unlikely".
But to answer your question - yes, assuming that by "addressed" you mean discussed. When a significant number of people are dissatisfied, I think it warrants a conversation (not necessarily action).
To answer Horn's question - yes, I have considered (and gone) to other festivals. I will enjoy Lockn', thanks. Last year was fantastic and their strategy of nonstop music was brilliant. I'm not going to let one crappy headliner prevent me from enjoying something that I love. If I truly hated the lineup I would go to another festival, but Jack White alone is enough to bring me back to the farm.

Righto. But multiple times now youve cited all the people who are unhappy as evidence that things should change. Has it not occurred to you that all those people might be insane? For instance, if you see a poll where 28% of Americans think that Obama is a Kenyan spy who should be impeached, do you say "we need to address this," or do you say "yes, at least one-quarter of the populace is nuts?" I'm just baffled by your continual reliance on a census of an obviously biased and irrational cross-section.
Emoney serves more of a purpose than any of you, especially Nate, whose incessant, garbled ramblings are so mindless and pointless that I get depressed just seeing them.

Your comment highlights the fundamental difference between our viewpoints. You perceive the anti-Kanye sentiments to be biased and irrational, I do not.
Up until this point, Kanye West has demonstrated nothing but disrespect towards the festival and I do not think he is worthy of an invitation back to Bonnaroo. I can completely understand if you disagree with me, but I don't think my feelings are irrational.

I think the issue is that you don't see holding a grudge for some perceived disrespect towards an ethereal, non-corporeal entity such as a "festival" as irrational and insane, whereas I do. If this was your festival or Kanye West disrespected you personally in some manner, I might understand. At its core, the dispute was between Kanye West and the festival, whom he felt shared blame for his fiasco. In fact, I don't recall him being anything but respectful to the fans, though I cannot say the same for the ones who stayed around merely to throw bottles at his stage. This should have been a simple "performer and festival have a falling out, don't communicate for a few years" thing, but the fans who took it personally, as if Kanye's anger (righteous or not) at a corporate entity which exists solely for the purpose of making money had anything to do with them, are the ones who have escalated it.

Wait, do you think Bonnaroo had NOTHING to do with 2008's mess? Seriously? That's your final answer?
As for your other post (I'm not quoting both):
An inforoo poll? That's your scientific measure of the 80,000+ people who will attend a music festival? Didn't that poll get less than 100 votes? Great sample size.
In 2012 the campsites were full of people skipping RHCP. You honestly think Kanye is the first headliner that a solid portion of the festival would skip? Think again.
I'd also like you to prove that the vocal portion of Roo attendees on FB equate to a "majority" of the music festival attendees. You can't, but I know you'll try to explain it as such.
A few tent shows? No. Stop it, that's ridiculous. HE. IS. A. MAW.FUCKIN'. HEADLINER. They aren't bringing him back for a redemption show only to have him play to a crowd the same size a mid-day afternoon set would get. Adjust your sights accordingly. You speak of alternatives, and it's making my brain hurt. Was there an alternative during Kings of Leon? No. I dislike that band considerably, but did I pout? Did I suggest not letting them have an unopposed set to appease me? No. I shut up, took a nap, and enjoyed the late nights. Until you can explain why the mouthbreathers that are all over the FB page deserve special treatment, I will continue to tell you how ridiculous of a suggestion it is. They're not better than any other group of people who dislike a band, they get to deal with it the same as those groups.
Do you still attend Bonnaroo? On a yearly basis? You haven't noticed the crowd shifting from Wooks and hippies to teenagers and college kids? They're targeting those groups because they sell out the festival. I'm sorry Bonnaroo is a business, but it is and the "Bonnaroovians" don't sell out the festival on their own. They're not the only demographic or attendee that gets to be taken into consideration.
You can either watch Kanye, or you can not, but stop suggesting it's "fair" to make him be an opposed headliner just because a bunch of salty little kids can't handle a headliner they don't like.

I think he is a huge d-bag, but he is going to absolutely kill it. I don't understand any of the hate at all. Chill in the back with a brew, go look around, nap for the evening, fuck in your tent.
If you boo an artist, ever, you are a douche. Art is made to be just "there", its optional to partake in and enjoy.
There will probably at least be a cafe act playing, maybe even a good one. A lot of people found something better to do during Kings of Leon, which was the last real big uproar around here that I can remember.
I was at the set by The Bakerton Group (really good set) during KOL.
I'm not a Kanye fan and will skip his set, but this is far from the first headline that I have skipped. My worry over this is some idiot(s) will try to throw stuff on the stage.

Why do you keep misconstruing my arguments and attributing things to me that I didn't say?
I never exonerated AC/Superfly of culpability. I said Kanye has shown disrespect towards the festival - I'm not going to drag out the quotes from his 2008 rant, but I'm sure you know what I'm referring to.
An inforoo poll? That's your scientific measure of the 80,000+ people who will attend a music festival? Didn't that poll get less than 100 votes? Great sample size.
No - obviously that poll is flawed. I was simply highlighting that as one of several examples of the fact that a significant portion of the Bonnaroo population appears to be opposed to Kanye West as a Bonnaroo headliner.
I'll reiterate that the poll is flawed, but since you brought up margin of error:
That poll received more than 100 votes. 226 people voted in that poll. If we assume the population is the Bonnaroo crowd (80,000), then the margin of error would be around 6.5%.
I'd also like you to prove that the vocal portion of Roo attendees on FB equate to a "majority" of the music festival attendees. You can't, but I know you'll try to explain it as such.
Here you go again - when did I say majority? I'll wait.
In 2012 the campsites were full of people skipping RHCP. You honestly think Kanye is the first headliner that a solid portion of the festival would skip? Think again.
No, I wasn't arguing that a lot of people were going to skip his show. I was arguing that unlike Kings of Leon, Dave Matthews, RHCP, etc. people are actually demonstrating vehemence over Kanye. I don't think people were planning on protesting Kings of Leon.
Yes, I still attend Bonnaroo. Of course I've noticed the shift in demographics. You're right about this.
You can either watch Kanye, or you can not, but stop suggesting it's "fair" to make him be an opposed headliner just because a bunch of salty little kids can't handle a headliner they don't like.
Again you used quotes here, but when did I say "fair"? I said it would be a good way to appease people. You don't think they need to be appeased, I get it.
Okay, got it. I'll be sure to show you the same amount of respect that you show me from now on.
Why do I think Kanye West should be "forced to eat an opposed set"?
Because I think it has the potential to turn a negative into a positive.
You might not agree with their sentiments, but it is apparent that their are a lot of people unhappy with Kanye West's return to Bonnaroo. Facebook is one example, but there are plenty of people here who feel that way as well. There was a recent poll question about his show and 23% of inforoosters replied "Fuck Kanye". We obviously aren't dealing with the typical "controversial" headliner; this is someone who has a prior relationship with the festival and obviously stirs-up a lot of vehemence from a significant portion of the Bonnaroo fanbase. Running a few tent shows during Kanye's show would do a lot more good than harm. It would give all the people planning protests and other silly gestures an alternative, hopefully mitigating anything that might have actually come to fruition. Moreover, as I mentioned, I think the gesture alone would go a long way with silencing the detractors. Hell, they could even make it a jambandtacular so that most Kanye fans won't feel like their missing anything. In fact, if they just booked Robert Randolph for a two-hour tent show during Kanye's set, I would shut the hell up right now.
Seriously though, has it ever occurred to you to, you know, just go to A DIFFERENT FESTIVAL? You're pining of a Bonnaroo of jambands and no Kanye, and guess what, that Bonnaroo doesn't exist anymore. Phil Lesh ain't walking through that door. Bob Weir ain't walking through that door. It's over, move on. Enjoy Lockin.
I'm sorry, but what the hell are you talking about? Kanye West grew up in the suburbs, his family had plenty of money. He isn't one of the "ghetto" stories like so many other rappers. He had more than enough money to go to a pretty high end art school, and then flunked his way out (or as he claims, "decided he was finished"). The point is, he did have it easy all along. His parents divorced when he was young (which I'm sure isn't easy, but it happens to millions of kids in the suburbs), but his family was still relatively affluent. This isn't Biggie, who really did grow up on the streets and in relative poverty. This is Kanye West, a man who has completely rearranged his image to fit what he thinks people want him to be.
You really have been acting like this for 6 years. What a wanker.
@foxandhound making a strong play for one of next year's TIN nominations.

I'm getting ridiculously excited for the Kanye set. It's already getting so much attention that, knowing Kanye, he will deliver in epic fucking fashion just to show everybody what a tremendous live performer he is. Everybody post their ideal Kanye setlists! Here's mine:
1. On Sight 2. Black Skinhead 3. All of the Lights 4. Monster 5. Good Morning 6. I'm In It 7. No Church in the Wild (with Frank Ocean) 8. Gold Digger 9. Through the Wire 10. Slow Jamz 11. The New Workout Plan 12. Heard 'Em Say 13. N****s in Paris 14. Dark Fantasy 15. I Am A God 16. Hold My Liquor 17. Power 18. Runaway (with Pusha T) 19. Heartless 20. Love Lockdown 21. Encore:
30. Jesus Walks 31. Diamonds from Sierra Leone 32. New Slaves 33. Stronger
(and for the record, I'm not expecting these guest appearances at all, just daydreaming about if they actually happened…also I made it heavy on College Dropout tracks since it seems like that's what he's been doing)
If he ends with stronger how can all of bonnaroo not go insane. seriously? People HAVE to stop hating to enjoy some Daft Punk. It would be so fucking funny, if people that were skipping Kanye skipped like fucking Daft Punk showing up for Stronger. (don't worry i know this won't happen), but how hilariously amazing would that be. Would be such sweet justice.

This guy REALLY hated me tweeting some positive stuff about Kanye on inforoo's twitter. It's so funny to me about how people are now upset that "corporate bonnaroo is all about the money". All because I posted a few positive tweets and told people not to organize a "group to moon Kanye West" lol. Bahahahahahah so ridiculous.
Batteries!? This is crazy. I can't imagine going to Roo where one of your main goals of the weekend is to trash a headlining set. I'll stick with conflicts being my only negative thoughts, even those are positive because they are can't lose decisions.
