We were sitting back on the grass, just relaxing, so we didn't really see the show much. By buddy stuck around for all of it, and got in closer. He said it was one of his favourites of the weekend. Sounds like a damn exciting show, if you ask me.
My wife wanted to see them, and I had no idea who they were.
In my opinion they had the best on stage show I saw all weekend. Playing while standing on the crowd? Climbing the stage to the top, he'll even the drummer looked freaked out.
There music wasn't bad, not my favorite stuff I heard all weekend, but the show topped all.
I saw Haim, for instance, a band I knew much better and their show was ok, but the sound was terrible.
I would like to see 21 pilots on a bigger stage. With what they did in the other tent, I couldn't imagine what they'd do on which or a later show in a bigger tent. Then again, after their stage presence last year, I would probably just be in for a let down.
There were backflips and other gymnastics in Detroit, some phenomenal light show type stuff, josh playing not only a drum held up by the crowd, but his entire drumset. VERY theatric stage presence (which a lot of people aren't into but I am). I think the only way you'd be let down is if you're expecting a show like, twice as good as last year or something. I'd safely bet you wouldn't be let down if you'd expect a show of the same caliber as last year's, especially if they got an evening show in a tent (I don't think the which would make their show any better or worse honestly)
They should get a night show, if they are returning this year.
Spastic is how I described the show I saw. In a very good way

i planned ahead and got to the other tent at around 2pm so i could get a spot for twenty one pilots. and it was well worth it. i was a fan before roo when i heard them on pandora. since then ive seen them all around the country, my favorite being vegas. contrary to some recent posts i think they have a good shot of coming back. 1. Open roo dates 2. Multiple other festival announcements 3. Increased popularity 4. Very popular 2013 roo set

Just for the record when my wife spoke to them, they were hinting but nothing was confirmed. I'll be the first to say I wish these hints turn to fruition!!!

Just won tickets to the Charlotte show on my local radio station playing 'Craigslist Price is right'
If they haven't announced by April 6th, I'll ask them about Roo then.
The Roo lineup comes out the 19th of this month, so we'll know by then lol. I think they'll be back though - anyone who was at their show last year raves about it (myself included), and I think it'd be silly for Roo not to bring them back, especially as they're gaining more and more attention (largely due to their live act).
I'm probably gonna take some flak for this, but I'm going to be seriously disappointed if this band makes it back for a second year in a row. Didn't catch em at Bonnaroo, but I saw them on their most recent tour and thought the whole thing was extremely contrived and fake. They're riding the Macklemore "white guys can rap and play some crappy music and talk about being positive and together and still be hip" wave. The stage presence was overly rehearsed, to the point where you could tell the dude knew at which point in which song he would stand on his piano and jump down and make the sixteen year old girls go crazy. And their music is total garbage. They aren't which stage or late night material, so what, they'd come back and do another 45 minute tent show? No thanks.

I know I was kidding.
I dont understand why people would go to specific band threads just to bash them. Do you just need the attention? How about putting that energy into something positive.

1. Because the fact that they rap is in anyway at all related to the color of their skin like are you kidding me. 2. They in no way have the same vibe a Macklemore at all. 3. The rest of what you said was garbage but that part really bothered me.

I'll be honest, I don't know a single one of their songs by heart. As I told my wife, who loves this band, they aren't something I'd probably have on my play list. But their live show was amazing.
Much like KISS didn't get a lot of love when young, but their stage show was legendary, I feel the same about 21 pilots

I kind of see where you're coming from. I think they're superior lyrically to Macklemore, but I also think Macklemore is the worst thing that's ever happened to hip hop

What does that even mean?
The fact that he became popular is just terrible. His music is terrible, the fact that's what people think is "good hip-hop" is terrible. There's also people that think he's the only person rapping about social issues, which is also horribly inaccurate.

So what? This all has happened before. There have been plenty worse popular rappers. As far as I'm concerned he's the only mainstream rapper to all out promote gay marriage. Brother Ali spent a verse on it in '09 and I'm sure others have but didn't have near the impact.
Who knows, maybe they end up having a positive impact along with Tech 9 in sorta convincing more up and commers to stay independent.
And when the dude from 21 Pilots raps, it is absolutely comparable in quality to Macklemore. I'd actually say his breath control and flow is worse.

Hence my response "I see where you're coming from"

I have grown to like them the more I listen to my wife play them but I can understand why someone wouldn't like that sound. Either way, I don't hear "talk about being positive and together and still be hip". Car Radio, Migraine, Ode To Sleep are just a few examples. That could've been the vibe they put out at that show though. He's admittedly not the strongest singer, but it comes off far more genuine to me when the lyrics and emotion change course from rap to singing and back within a song. If they were "riding the wave", he would just rap and milk that cow.
My friend who travels with them invited me and a friend to a show for free and to come hang out with them in April. Still said nothing about them being at Bonnaroo and I asked so I'm not sure. He may just not know but I just don't think it's going to happen.

i think this link proves an above average singing ability
