Wow I hadn't heard that song yet, I like it a lot. Very restrained as far as Dr. Dog goes. Just dripping in Philly soul. There is no reason they shouldn't be back at Roo next year

I saw the announcement for the new album and felt the same way. Bring 'em back to Roo. Let them split a late night tent with someone or give them an evening tent slot or something.

I'm loving the new single.
I'll be seeing Dr. Dog for the 10th time tomorrow night!!!! They have delivered every single time I've seen them play. Always a good time, great jams, great energy. Give them a late night slot and they would tear it up, and definitely be very appreciative of the opportunity. Unfortunately I'm afraid they will get slotted similarly to P.TM

Dr. Dog's 2nd single, Broken Heart. This track is fantastic, and both singles have been pretty strong lyrically too. This is shaping up to be a great album.
Dr. Dog just announced a show in a tiny venue in NYC. Holds like 250 people max. Tix on sale at noon. I must get tickets for this.
We are excited to announce that we are playing an intimate show at Mercury Lounge on 9/3. Tickets on sale at Noon!
Good luck! I saw them at Kung Fu Necktie in Philly which is probably about 200 capacity. I think I have permanent damage to my right ear from that show, shit was loud. Good times..

Hell yea. Scored two tickets. Can't wait. Looking forward to seeing them in a small venue like this. It's not as good as Neil Young but it'll satisfy me for now

Great show last night. Had a good time and they played an awesome set. 11:15-1:00ish. There were members of Spirit Family Reunion and Diamond Doves hanging in the audience watching. Some photos from Brooklynvegan:
So my early speculation that this is an AOTY contender seems completely justified. One of the things Dr Dog has always done really well is not just make a collection of songs but make whole comprehensive albums. This is no different. The whole thing has a beautiful soul feel, mostly stemming from the bass lines. In general the songs seem more restrained than the last two albums. Less layers, more serious lyrics, and just an overall less playful vibe.
I think the production needs a serious nod. This is their first album recorded in the studio they just completed building. The production is almost as much the star of this album as the songs. The whole thing is soft and warm. It makes me feel a comfort that I don't get from the sharp, clean sound you get on most recording these days. It sounds like it was recorded in a living room with the worlds comfiest couch that just happens to also be a world class recording studio.

AOTY = Americana of the year? Otherwise I'm confused.
I'm talking my personal AOTY, I wouldn't expect you or many others to understand why this is such a fantastic album.
