Does this mean that we need to have our picks by Thursday? I haven't even thought about it yet. I still need to figure out what we're even doing here. haha

You have to have your pick for thursday's game in by Thursday. The other games you can wait until the days they are played.
This isn't so much of a fantasy league as just picking who will win. I couldn't do a full fantasy league as I don't really follow football, but I can make a 50/50 guess!

Does it really matter? The longer you wait to sign up, the more of a disadvantage it is for you.
patoirish - there is no deadline to add someone to the league. They will be behind in total possible points, but if someone wants to join late they can, no problem
krissyjo - only after that specific game has started and the picks are locked in will it show who pick who to win, so you can't just copy someone elses picks and that kinda stuff

pretty sure the rule is you have to have your pick in 30 mins before the game starts. and only some games are on thursday. don't think they are till 7pm, so you should be fine.
Your picks are due in 5 minutes before kickoff of that game.
Yeah, even if you miss the Thursday game (which someone will surely do) you can still make all your other picks. Ditto if you get so wasted Saturday night that you miss your early Sunday picks. You can still make your late Sunday and Monday picks.
Don't know if this is a strategy thing or not, but do you guys usually pick all of the games at once, or wait to see how the season pans out?
Once you make a pick, can you change it before the cutoff, or is it locked?
Also, I noticed the tie breaker things at the bottom... is there a deadline for those?

In this case, it is probably best to wait. Since we are picking against the spread and the spread can change up until game time.
You can change your picks as many times as yous want before the cutoff.
The tie breakers are pretty unnecessary for our purposes. They are for the tie-breakers for the individual weeks, and since we don't give out any kind of prizes for individual weeks, there really is no need to fill them out. You can if you want to though. I'm sure the deadline for them is the same as for the picks of those games.
This does bring up an interesting question though Mike D. What happens in the event of a tie at the end of Week 17? What are the tie breakers?
You can only pick one week at a time. I recommend making all of your weeks picks before the Thursday game just in case something happens and you can't log on over the weekend or just flat out forget.
You can change your pick up until the cutoff for that particular game - 5 minutes before that game. Change as many times as you want before the cutoff time.
Tiebreakers are due in 5 minutes before the first game of the week. If you miss the tiebreakers, no big deal, you will not loose out on any points.
I will say this again to those who aren't too familiar with this league - When you log on Mon/Tue/Wed/Thur to make your Thursday's game picks, go ahead and put in a pick for every game and the tiebreakers!! Life happens, people forget, this way you at least have your picks in and any guess is better than no guess!!
This is me thinking on the fly . . . Season ending tiebreaker - if needed:
I will say it goes to whoever had the highest number of correct games in a given week. Lets say a two way tie at the end - player A's best single week had 14 correct picks in week 2 and player B's best single week was 15 correct in week 15 - player B will win the tiebreaker.
If both players still tie we will go to whoever won the most number of weeks overall (overall - not just between the two players weeks compared to each other, but weeks that player led/tied for the lead in the league).
If both players still tie, we will pick random numbers between 1-17 and the first player to have more correct picks that week than the other will win.
If both players still tie we will go into a sudden death pickem each week of the playoffs.
If both players still tie, well fuck it, I am out of ideas, fight to the death!!!
