Whether it's your first Bonnaroo or you’re a music festival veteran, we welcome you to Inforoo.
Here you'll find info about artists, rumors, camping tips, and the infamous Roo Clues. Have a look around then create an account and join in the fun. See you at Bonnaroo!!
Welcome back Bonz, but I do not find it strange that your presence being requested in the Orgy thread and then you showing up, like it was the quacking Bonzai Bat Signal.
Tweedy was announced to this, right? I've been trying to keep up but I lost track a few weeks ago. Most of his dates had already come out by the time time his tour was announced. I noticed Newport tacked on to it and thought about you guys.
Sorry if this has been known.
Yep, Tweedy was announced back at the beginning of April for Sunday. He will definitely be up there with Mavis.
See yall at Milk Carton Kids!! Didn't do any of the aftershows last year, but couldn't pass up this one. I may join yall for Saturday too, but I am not totally sure about the Heartbreaker Banquet yet. I never listened to Deer Tick until a few weeks ago so if there is a Saturday show for that I will likely check it out, given other QCers are and I can pitch in for a ride.
Last year were there two shows each night or just one??
edit for another question mahg33ta or itrainmonkeys - Were they back to back (where you could go to both) or at the same time, different places where you have to pick one or the other?

Mike D - the times overlap: Pickens is a little earlier and Deer Tick runs late into the night. I did both last year on Friday, but cut out early on Dawes and missed the openers for Deer Tick.
but more generally, yes - you can't lose with these shows. Great stuff w/ lots of special guests in tiny venues. I know some are grumbling about price but these are special special shows (plus the charity angle). I saw Jackson Browne in a 300 person venue for goodness sake.

My only grumbling is that the prices literally doubled each year without much of a difference in the shows. It was a shock to see the increase.
Apparently, according to this link they were $10 tickets in 2011. Then in 2012 they were bumped up to $20 and in 2013 they were doubled again. That's annoying no matter how you view it. I still have a great time and don't think much about the money once I'm there in front of the band but it's definitely something that surprised me.
2011 = $10 a show 2012 = $20 a show 2013 = $50 a show
Here's hoping they don't go beyond that price this year.
Ouch I didn't realize they had increased that much. I guess that's what happens now that they sell out instantly. I guess I need to save some more money before those are announced
I'm torn, becuase all of the shows look great. But none of the shows have jumped out as a must-attend for me this year. I was really holding out for one night of Dawes.
I'm leaning towards Watkins Family Hour, but I'd ideally do an after show that Saturday night (Friday night would ideally be spent relaxing after a long road trip; Sunday night will be spent resting to get ready for another long road trip). +1 and I have decided that we must really do at least 1 night in Newport (although, it could just be a stop in a bar on the waterfront).
However, Heartbreaker Banquet may be my solution to missing bands I really want to see on that Saturday due to too many great bookings. I wish they would have announced acts as well.

I was kind of thinking that but I am unsure if I want to do 2 nights... plus I don't want to have to bring my own car every day...

also (in case anyone was going to asks) - the special guests for the Pickens shows were NEVER announced in advance last year. The deer tick shows announced their guests at the beginning of the week before.

Yea, those were more unknown but ended up being some good names.
I know I counted these guys out, but looking at there schedule, they are scheduled to be in Chicago 3 days or so after Hawaii and if they play Saturday at NFF they don't have to be in hawaii for a few days.... Also note that post heading "more dates Friday" which would line up with the possibility that NFF has been waiting until closer to Boston Calling to announce.
I think I am just going to try to get tickets to as many Deer Tick shows as I can and go from there. Who else is planning on trying for Deer Tick?
I'll be trying for Saturday. Probably shouldn't try for Sunday but we'll see how my money and mind are feeling at the time of them going on sale.
If they announce guests before-hand (doubtful) I may change my mind about Milk Carton Kids for Friday but we'll see. Definitely trying for Saturday though.

Did you guys find it easy to get to these after shows when leaving the festival?
I think it is pretty easy to get to the after shows. Parking may be a little tougher than getting there. Others who have done it more will probably have better answers for you though. I usually am just along for the ride.

It was pretty easy to sell my Deer Tick ticket last year. I think it took me 5-10 minutes and I was able to pawn them off for face value. The only hassle was that I had to find my way downtown to do so, but if you are planning on being downtown for another show, it should be a breeze.

Last year i left the fort while the avett brothers had two songs left, drove back to my hotel and had dinner and got my head straight. Then drove back down to the blues cafe parked a block away and still got in there before ravi shavi walked on stage.
