Gah. I'm still torn over which after show to purchase tickets. I can make cases for all 3 announced shows, as well as the unreleased Deer Tick shows (would Sunday night Deer Tick bring in Dawes and/or maybe Middle Brother?!).

I'd really love to hear this at Newport:
As for after shows....I'll be disappointed if a surprise middle brother set pops up and I missed it. Really thought they'd pull it off last year but oh well.
well this is obvious I guess, but if it's Middle Brother you are hoping for, it'll only happen at the Deer Tick shows. The fact that Dawes isn't hosting any of the Pickett shows gives us some hope. Part of me wants to check out the travel schedule of the NFF bands and figure out which might be candidates for which night. But that feels like a lot of work and I wish NFF would just announce the aftershow lineups.

Dawes is booked on that Saturday. So it could only happen on Friday and/or Sunday. I'd say Sunday is more likely as Dawes will be returning from a European tour and is already playing NFF on that Sunday.
Also, itrainmonkeys , any rumblings as to whether I can hope for Felice Brothers to be on the Heartbreaker Banquet bill?

I'm not expecting them to show up unless they are a late announced act on the lineup but they do have a big gap open for that time right now. Would be really cool if they showed up. I was hoping they'd maybe make at least a Deer Tick aftershow appearance.

Yea, lots of tight spaces and people squeezing by if you want to be in front of the band. Usually more elbow room to the side of the stage which still gets good audio. But the prime spots are tight and by the bar.
But there are 3 announcements left for Saturday. Museum Stage + 2 other acts. I'm assuming Jack White is one. Still holding out hope for Passenger.
QUacker and I were watching tv one night when I heard Let Her Go AND saw who sang it. It was one of those 'That's who K2 wants to be there!" I'd be liking that. : )
PS for those that were not in prior years NFF thread:
"Grilled Cheese" is that person or group that is like comfort food to you.. Been part of your world a long time, you know every song, feels like an old friend. For me the last ones were Elvis Costello and Jackson Brown. Looking like this year it will be Crosby, Still, and Nash at PPAC.
I only mention Museum because it will likely be its own announcement. So that conflicts with your timeline. However, we did get an announcement this past Saturday. And last year there was a headliner announced on a Saturday if I remember.

Aw man, I think I've been using grilled cheese (slightly) wrong. I was under the impression that it just had to be that one (or two or three) act(s) that you just can't wait to see on a beautiful afternoon along the bay, that you wouldn't miss regardless of any conflict (I was thinking Lone Bellow was a grilled cheese last year for you Fawn).
For anyone who has been to the Deer Tick after shows, is it just a packed bar? Are there places to sit?
It definitely is a packed, tiny bar. I think there may be places to sit upstairs but you wouldn't be able to see anything
+1. Definitely crowded. My friend who went the first night didn't return for the others becuase he didn't like it. I'm into that scene and enjoy the comraderie. If you are determined to sit there is an upper level, rectangular-shaped with a cut-out in the middle to look down. There are seats around the edge and if you got there early you could grab one and look down and watch the festivities. If you aren't in a front row there you won't see anything. Here is a pic taken from up there - good representation of your view (and how crowded the floor gets!!!)
I think it's inevitable at this point, but I really really hope the Saturday hl'er isn't Jack White, but on the upside I guess I could leave early and beat the traffic?

SHOTGUN!! Given i'm not in the beer prison drinking the alcohol intended for ladies that ran away when I wasn't looking again
After listening to the Watkins Family Hour podcast, I caved and bought tickets for the after show. I didn't want to regret it once I found out that it was sold out (I have a feeling I'm really going to regret passing on the Heartbreaker Banquet once the lineup is announced; I figure that I can always sell the tickets at the door if I change my mind). I love the old-timey radio show feel that the podcasts channel (Mountain Stage? Prairie Home Companion?). Not to mention, I'd love to hear some deeper Nickel Creek cuts, especially this Pavement cover:
I decided against Deer Tick because +1 wouldn't really enjoy having to stand in a packed bar for 3+ hours. Sitting in a theater is much more her thing. And while I was afraid that we'd be tired by Sunday evening and would want to rest before hitting the road the next morning, if there is any headliner set I wouldn't mind missing early to head into town it would be Mavis Staples.
