So who does tour with their own stage production that's also big enough to play LN Which? Skrillex Pretty Lights Bassnectar Deadmau5 Avicii (Has/had that giant head thing) Daft Punk
I'm sure there is a few more but that doesn't leave a whole lot of choices.
Zedd does too. His current tour is actually pretty fantastic.
Zedd was surprisingly fantastic at Buku. Way more of a fun dance vibe than a pew pew lasers in your ear vibe. I'd be cool with him at roo.
Bassnectar and Deadmau5 have pulled sets like that before.
I wouldn't expect it from Deadmau5. Especially if it's a live show.
I know hes done all night sets before in Atlantic City. But that was years ago... Honestly, I kind of hope it's not him. He was pretty mediocre at Made in America.. Maybe I'm just over him.

Yea that Made set was pretty "ehhh" but I cant listen to Bassnectar till the sunrises so i'll take him..
Who is really going to stay up all night in the Pretty Lights spot playing a 4 hour set till sunrise? That is the question.
This is why we need a DJ DJ in that slot, a la Hardwell, Markus Schulz, whatever, not a live set type DJ like deadmau5. Someone not restricted by a predetermined set who can just go with the energy of the setting.
But Phi makes a great point concerning stage setup. Without a standing light rig like most other festivals have on their EDM stage, Roo would require an artist that brings their own visual spectacle.
Jesus this just makes me think of all the profit these DJs make. All they need to bring to festivals and clubs is a laptop and some headphones and maybe a few other pieces of their gear. No trucks full of stuff, no expensive instruments that require tuning and setting up. Plus its usually just one guy, sometimes a duo, collecting the whole check. So little overhead.

soooo... EDM stage 2014?
In a perfect world Daedalus would play this slot. He is not and will never be popular enough for the which LN slot but he would be an amazing show if he had no time limit. As a side note, he did just release his new album/EP/ or whatever it is, so I have my fingers crossed that he will be at roo next year. Actually, I would think that his new album should have no weighing on whether or not Daedalus plays roo because his DJ sets having nothing in common with his albums, anyone disagree?
It would be really cool to see a Big GrizMatik (Big Gigantic, Griz, and Gramatik together) show late night like they did at Electric Forest. Could be like an EDM Superjam. lol Unlikely but I would love all three to be there this year.

…These days when [Afrojack] writes a song his ambition is to create a hit. “I know what people like, and I give it to them,” he said. Although he has no formal training, and cannot read music, he has an intuitive talent for assembling the parts of a song so that they deliver the maximum impact. To illustrate, he played a song called “Beyond” from the latest album by the French duo Daft Punk. “It’s cool,” Afrojack said. “But where’s the hook? Where’s the drop?” Then he played one of his own unreleased songs. “Sonically, it’s not half as genius as Daft Punk,” he said. “But the kids are gonna love it, because it has all the elements they love.”
So over the weekend my friend John wrote on twitter "I really like @deadmau5 music. Only problem is he jams the same content out for years collecting checks doing the same show over and over"
Then this happened ???
He's been getting spammed non stop by deadmau5 fans ever since too haha.

Yeah I would like to see Deamau5 at Bonnaroo this year but with that said he can come off as a total douche a lot of the time. I respect his honesty when it comes to the state of EDM these days but he just seems like a really sad negative person.
I am not sure if anyone will know what word I tried to use that got substituted with Summers breeze but it started with a D. lol Just so people aren't confused by my post.

i agree. i like deadmau5 too, and do like a bit of the old cranky artist thing, but behind all that I like to see some gratitiude, gratitude to the fans that make the artist's lifestyle possible. Its why songs written by multimillionaires about how hard "the road" is always make me roll my eyes. Sorry you have to tour and party and have a blast all the time while I work in an office 40-55 hours a week (not that I'm complaining, love my job. see? gratitude).
Don't get me wrong, its different when its a struggling artist, I understand they are working their asses off. But once you are rich, just get on stage and entertain the crowd for 3 hours (thank you paul mccartney).

Or just ignore it and laugh all the way to the bank, instead of being a d-bag about any sort of criticism.
And to use Boys Noize/Pretty Lights as an example. Boys Noize is 500x the producer/DJ that Pretty Lights is, however, Pretty Lights has a MASSIVE following with kids who attend music festivals thus why he played a LN Which and Boys Noize was put in a tent.
I am a massive Boyz Noize fan (4x live). I also love Pretty Lights (8x live). Saying Boys Noize is 500x better as a producer/DJ is ludacris.
Boys Noize is a premiere producer no doubt, but what makes him amazing (to me) is that he performs with a very technical style. He works hard on stage mixing, remixing, manipulating, etc which is REALLY hard to pull off.
Pretty Lights is a BEAST of a producer but his live show feels unoriginal as most shows feel very similar. His style is much different than Boys Noize, but his "collaging" technique is very impressive. Pretty Lights LIVE = fun, accessible to the masses, 'cool lights/lazers' but not technically impressive. Boys Noize wins big time in live performance Pretty Lights mainly just plays his songs, with minimal work/transitions done on the fly. SIDE NOTE: His new full band setup (which I saw at Red Rocks when he first unveiled it) was pretty cool but still felt more or less 'canned' like usual.
